Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

Since you Goddesses are experts on all things WDW and this is my first couples only trip, I need some shoe advice! I think it was Liz that ripped me a new one for noticing that I was wearing flip flops in the parks this past January! :lmao:

They were Teva Mush! Aren't those supposed to at least be a little better than regular flip flops??? :rolleyes1

Anyway, I'm running into some issues here with this "romantic F&W trip"! I have 2 dresses (sundresses, basically) that I would like to wear, at least to our early dinner/DTD our first night and maybe the other our last night at F&W. How do you wear good shoes with a pretty dress?!?!? Rey thinks I should just wear my tennis shoes, which I will be wearing during the days at the parks, but seriously, I would look like a total idiot wearing these dresses with tennis shoes. What do you do when you want to dress up a smidge at WDW? Do you just not get to? My PF is a lot better, but I fear after standing all day it will flare, and I don't want to make it worse...but a girl wants to look cute on a romantic trip!

Well I just pushed a ton of multi quotes to catch up but I don't have it in me.

So:

Karen - Clark's or Romika - they are expensive as he!! but I have never bought either without a steal so to speak. Also, I have a pair of thicker flip flops:lmao: (EDIT: I guess that font is not small enough to hide!!!) that actually are fine with one of my dresses - they seem to blend right in and disappear. Really. But since you shouldn't do them - check online for cheap Clark's - also if you run out of time you can get them sent to AKL - I did this once - just put your check-in date/number in the extra info.

Also, the race. That was the best part for me - how the tables turned for you. I LOVE that.

Jo - So how is hubby these days with all of your accomplishments? He better have himself in order. :rotfl2: ;) :3dglasses

Megan - I could care less about the gains - meaning saying nada - there is no weight loss journey without them. They're hard when unexpected though - easier when you just know. And I'm down over 13 (11.8 for WW just over a month). It's not just WW I've been walking like a demon. The bus to my parents is usually a streetcar ride to get to the never ending bus up to their town - but lately I've been walking at least one way (to the bus not to them :rotfl:)- sometimes both ways and that's 90 minutes if I do both. WW is a 40 minute walk! :rotfl2: That's one reason I joined. If I walked to my own scale.....

SO what are your ideas about this upping your athletics? Also, there is a half in Florida you could plan to run.

Your sister's wedding is coming so quickly. :lovestruc

Nancy - please come on - I want to hear how you're doing with such a huge transition.

Denise - your story was hysterical (for an outsider :lmao:). I loved that this child puts you through more than the other two together line. Loved it.

Kelly - that's just it with WW - the BIGGEST surprise - I am finding that money is the biggest motivator for me and it's not something that I thought about at all. Total surprise. But makes sense - here is $58.75 with taxes in for a monthly pass. So I do think about lifetime - A LOT. :lmao: Oh lifetime - my future free days. :goodvibes Someone came to her goal this week. I don't know her but I made sure to say congratulations. I didn't see any others go up to her at the end. Jealous or shy because otherwise I don't get it. That's a huge moment and deserves such credit. Which is why I push you so much. :goodvibes

Yes I saw Megan's picture. Sighing. Loudly. :3dglasses

Oh and Kelly - your scale decision re: the gym makes total sense - I think it was Jo where I was telling her this story of a woman who quit a trainer and could barely keep her pants up as she was telling him "I'm quitting - I haven't lost any weight". So makes sense. Women are so focused on the numbers. But so are some men. My brother talks about how he is so pleased about his 190/195. So I don't know.

GAH! So much catching up to do! Here goes:

Nancy!

Wow. I KNOW that you must have taken some disrespect there. For awhile. I know. Oh how I know. Love to you. Smart you for not picking status quo all around and simply swallowing and settling. Smart you.

Disrespect. I wouldn't classify it as that really. I had the unfortunate honor of being stuck in the middle of everything. Mother & daughter have very different personalities (mom is no-nonsense, assertive business mind; daughter is truly a "food artist") and frankly their ability to communicate with each other sucks. I heard every single complaint, comment, frustration aggrevation from every one of the 12 employees - mother and daughter included! I don't think that anyone did this to me purposefully - it's just that I was viewed as "safe". I finally shocked myself (and clearly everyone else!!!) and had some rather uncomfortable but honest discussions with the owner about it all - especially the lack of consistancy in any kind of policy/procedures. Initially she seemed open and receptive to what I was saying. We talked several more times (I was staying away from the shop during all of this - her choice because she wanted to implement some changes :confused3) but a week later she came back to me and said "I can't change these things".

That right there bothered me immensly. The reality is she was not WILLING to address these mattters. Spoke volumes in that little sentence. I understand that for her, family must take priority, but without dealing with some of these fundemental business issues they are going to implode. :sad2:

Canadians do know that your weather idiots often say cold front coming down from Canada - like Canada is this solid straight equal latitude line where everything simply changes. :rotfl2: The magic place. Laughing. And like fronts are always north south with no variation. :rolleyes1

Um, well, they are -aren't they? :confused3:rotfl:

FORGOT ME! :rotfl: I'm down 2.8 and once again Nancy I'm too wiped to write what's going on around it. So interesting.

Nice job Lisa! I'm up. I got blindsided by Erin's evil little minion on Thursday. She made me weigh in, measured my body fat and took all my measurements :faint: I have got some serious work to do!

I do think I was the same pace maybe a bit faster at disney when you take out the stops for pictures (I finished disney 2:56) Plus there are some people on this thread that lie for a whole year and make me think I ran disney doing 2/1 but really it was 2:30 run 30 walk.. But I will not state any names... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I'm SHOCKED! Completely shocked that anyone would do that to you! :rolleyes1

Car is a mess so I decide to grab the coats, sweat shirts and crap from the back seat and what do I discover 2 beer bottles.

:rotfl2: I love it. I have a 17 y.o. DD too. And boys that are 19 &21. I so feel your pain! :goodvibes

I'm also going to start looking for a 10k or half to do. I love running 5ks but they've stopped feeling like huge accomplishments. Please don't think I mean any disrespect to those who are starting to do these. I was in your shoes once, I totally remember when I started running them and how every step seemed huge. I really mean no disrespect. Just the last times I've had that high of running and feeling like I conquered something was Tough Mudder or my last half. I think training for something big again might make me step up my exercising.

So. Is this a good time to tell you that I was thinking about you when the Ironman was on this weekend? Seriously - you should consider a triathlon.

Karen- Before I tell you about running sick I should warn you that I have some screws loose in my head I think. I find that when I'm sick and I get to the point where I'm coughing I love to run.

 me too. It'll either cure me or kill me. That's my philosophy!

WOOT!!! AND...I placed FIRST in my age division!!! Granted, there were only 10 women in my age group 30-39, but STILL! AND I was the oldest!!! Dallas placed first as well, not many teens running today. ;)

YAY KAREN! And a Disney trip in just a few days! Life is good indeed!:cool1:

So there is some lovely in dementia

:lovestruc

Since you Goddesses are experts on all things WDW and this is my first couples only trip, I need some shoe advice!

Footwear. 2 facts. I hate shoes, and I need good shoes. I really like naturalizers & Lisa's beloved Clarks. Neither one is cheap, but for me good shoes are essential. Try Zappos. Free shipping.

Lisa he is ok, I am better off not looking at him for support

:3dglasses I will refrain from inviting him to a boxing match when I meet him. :goodvibes

I'm happy that I was wrong about the disrespect Nancy. Truly. But I knew it must be something ongoing for you to make that decision. What a loss for them. And I smiled about the other employees - I totally get why they came to you with their complaints. I've ALWAYS thought and known that I don't know you just bring such peace/safety to me with your ways/your energy. So I get why they came to you. :lovestruc

Erin - no you didn't tell us about the baby. I bet she bounced right back, yes?

Bang on with Megan. Bang on.

Okay, love to everyone near the coast. So much coverage that small children must be scared unless the parents treat it as *fun* or something soothing.

I loved the GAH. :rotfl2:

Erin. Well, turns out she's human  She gained a bit while pregnant, and is NOT in her skinny jeans yet :dance3: But, she's back to kickin' butt. I took a Tabata Boot Camp class with her on Saturday morning. :scared1:

We're currently hunkered down for Hurricane Sandy. I'm inland, so we're mostly wind and a bit of rain. Nothing really of note happening for us yet. Just a breezy rainy day thus far. But the storm hasn't actually GOTTEN here yet. The shoreline is getting pounded with high surf, storm surge, etc. The pictures are really amazing, and honestly terrifying! The power of the water is just mind-blowing! My parents live a block from the beach, but are not under mandatory evacuation so they are staying put.

Denise - I hope all is well with you and yours during this storm.

Stay safe Nancy and anyone else on the coast!!! The pictures really are scary. I cannot believe your parents are a block from the beach and have not been evacuated! Sending good thoughts and hoping it passes fast!

Stay safe Nancy and anyone else on the coast!!! !

Yep. Good thoughts sent to you all - and to your parents Nancy as well.

Do you see the pattern - it's going to literally swing up here as a tropical storm- go back over and then go around Erika's area AFTER here for the second swirl. Wow. What a whirl back around up and over.

Of course she's kicking butt. :rotfl2:

Want to hear about Tabata when you have a chance. So curious.

Yeah. Insane. My parents are at 15' above sea level and the storm surge in their particular area was predicted to be at 10', so they didn't make them leave.

Of course she's kicking butt. :rotfl2:

Want to hear about Tabata when you have a chance. So curious.

Tabata. Are you familiar at all? Intense interval workout. We did 20 seconds "on", 10 second "active rest". Various jacks, lunges, push ups, burpees, etc. :crazy2: Killer. Really feel the after-burn all day long. :thumbsup2

Quick hello and to check in in how everyone being hit by the hurricane is doing.

We had some crazy weather but it seems (knock on wood) that the worst at my house was the screens fell out of our windows and minimal water in the basement.

My sister lives on the coast and a tree fell in her yard but that was the worst of it. Her boyfriend manages a bar that is literally on pillars over the water and they haven't been down yet to check on it.

One of my aunts had a tree fall, part of it came in thru her attic and another part of it broke a window and the roof on her sunroom.

So we got lucky with very minimal damage to me and my loved ones.

Back to work for me after having the day off today due to the storm. I'll have to respond to everything tomorrow night.

We're fine here. Sun is starting to peek out :sunny: We lost one shingle off our roof and several of the little clippy things that hold the pool cover on popped off. They didn't break though! We just snapped them right back on. The pool cover has a lot of water on it, so it didn't blow.:thumbsup2

I can hear the hum of generators from a nearby neighborhood. About 25% of our town is without power currently. However, this is NOTHING compared to that freak snowstorm last Halloween. So very thankful for that.

At the shore, however, a completely different story. Devestation. The flooding is horrific. :sad2: Mother Nature is one powerful b!tch :scared:

Good to hear that you didn't have severe damage everyone. Nancy, how about your parent's house?

We had one death in the city. A woman was hit by a flying sign. Died instantly. But other than that just the norms - power out for some, trees down, wires etc.

Obviously nothing like the centre of it all.

Okay, need to make a decision quickly.

Jean has a PT job and she was fired yesterday. :rotfl2: It's not funny but I said to her I'm not going to put that on the DIS when I ask for advice for WW - she said "I don't CARE" and started laughing. :rotfl: Anyway, I honestly think she should see a lawyer just to scare them. This place has been full of nonsense since day one. And I know they don't follow labour laws. And they need to be stopped. Jean - well she's just kind of glad that she was fired. :rotfl:

Anyway, our money is separate but this impacts EXTRAS big time. Things that we share expenses. Especially this time of year. January and February are very difficult. We both don't get paid for the two week Christmas Break. And we are probably going to WDW so I have to get right on cutbacks immediately. It costs a boat load to go up to my parents - which obviously won't be touched - but lots of other choices to be made because of that as well.

So I don't know what the eff to do. It's almost $60 a month. Jean says hang on and leave in a month or two. But I think differently that would break my heart to keep going and leave. Sighing. To do well and then have to leave. So I have to decide by Friday to get November back.

I want to do online if I can budget the money. :rotfl2: Which makes me laugh to no end. Why? The only reason I went to WW is accountability at weigh-in and now I'm obviously addicted to their etools even though I only use it 3 or 4 days a week. I can't believe I'm even considering paying for it. It's about 20 bucks a month here for a certain payment plan and the best thing is I can pay it ahead of time for six months and not feel like it could be taken away at any minute.

Also, I thought maybe if I went to online - I could go back to meetings when I'm closer to goal and have the funds.

So decisions. Decisions. I'm sad about it all since I'm enjoying it and on a roll and the money motivated me when I had it but whatever it's not a big deal in the scope of life - obviously.

Any thoughts?

I don't know Lisa, I think your health is worth it. I just would hate for you to have to give it up! Is there anything else that you can cut that will save some money so you can keep it??

Good to hear that you didn't have severe damage everyone. Nancy, how about your parent's house?

They are fine. They lost power in the middle of the night, but even though they are only one block from the beach, it's an uphill block. The private beach club, however, apparently is obliterated. My sister is headed there now to see for herself. But. It's a BEACH CLUB. who really cares, right?

We had one death in the city. A woman was hit by a flying sign. Died instantly. But other than that just the norms - power out for some, trees down, wires etc.

Oh, how awful! :worried: There were several reports of people getting hit by falling trees in CT. So, so sad.

Any thoughts?

oh yes. LOTS of thoughts ;)

First. JEAN! :rotfl2: OMG. Jean. Not laughing at Jean at all. That's my story right there. We're practically TWINS! :lmao: The people are effin' up so they eliminate any voice of reason so they don't have to hear about their dysfunction. Poor Jean. I understand the "glad to be done with it" feeling, but still. Stupid people. I hate them for her. ::yes::

Ok. WW. You love WW. You love the etools. You love the WALK to WW. (:offtopic: btw. I walked one hour on the TM this morning. One HOUR. You know why? Do you? Because of YOU walking 45 minutes to your WW meeting. That's why)

Back to you. popcorn:: <=== see. You. You are HAPPY. You are being successful and LOVING IT! You are so, so worth every penny. Get to goal and it will be FREE, right? If you want your goal to be higher than what WW says, can't you and your DR. set a goal?? Maybe that's a good option. Get a goal that you can reach quicker and then it will be free - and you can still continue and see where this journey takes you.

Now. I also have other thoughts. But I'll leave you with those for right now :lovestruc

I don't know Lisa, I think your health is worth it. I just would hate for you to have to give it up! Is there anything else that you can cut that will save some money so you can keep it??

No. Not that I can think. I'm laughing. You know when those financial people tell you that they will save you hundreds of dollars a month....:stir: I get all excited. Then....

Well I read it go NO I DON'T DO THAT. Next. No. No. No. Next. :rotfl2: I don't eat out that often. Don't drink coffee. You know the usual they go after.

We have basic level of cable - lowest level and pretty basic internet - low level. So even if I changed either to nada it wouldn't even be WW money.

But I too agree the price is worth my health but so is not worrying about debt too so ???

Thanks Karen. :lovestruc

oh yes. LOTS of thoughts ;)

Jean would LOVE IT if you were laughing at her Nancy. :rotfl2: She likes to be *seen*. And she'll take it any way she can get it. :goodvibes

Oh and by the way I should have said side job. She got fired from her side job. Hence the ability to laugh when it's not her job job. But it does change a lot.

I agree with everything you said so I don't know. And I know I wouldn't lose as much or as quickly even with WW online. I know that 100%.

I am worth every penny. But every penny would have to be on credit now. So frustrating.

And by the way you better get back on that threadmill - or a treadmill:rotfl2: - cause I meant 45 minutes EACH WAY to WW! :lmao:

Okay - my head needs a rest. Some possible renters for my BW NYE reservation are annoying me right now.

Thank you. :lovestruc

Oh Lisa, I TOTALLY get it! Just a couple years ago I was in the same boat! I kept saying that we don't live extravagantly(ack. Sp!) we had no extra stuff, no eating out, we didn't even have any credit cards over $300...there was just no extra! It does take a toll on the health to stress too. A big toll.

Oh and by the way I should have said side job.

I got that :upsidedow

And by the way you better get back on that threadmill - or a treadmill:rotfl2: - cause I meant 45 minutes EACH WAY to WW! :lmao:

I KNOW you meant 45 minutes each way! That's why I stayed for a whole HOUR. :rotfl2: The whole time I kept thinking "45 minutes. How far is that for me. :scratchin hmmm...45 minutes. each way. :scared: I am NOT motivated enough to walk that far to a WW meeting. :rolleyes1 Heck. I'm not even moviated enough to DRIVE to one right now. :headache:

Oh Lisa, I TOTALLY get it!
:

A lot of it is my fault for hanging on to my job for so long - it's supply and it's like busy and then dead - nothing to hold onto so to speak. But with years and years of cutbacks and HEAVILY unionized I'm not even eligible for more permanent since there's people bumped out all the time. And then they are LIST A for the union. Rambling. Boring. But I really should let it go but I love the students.

I also held on because I needed the flexible schedule to get T and Nathan's testing done ASAP. Oh well. What can you do? Changes are a comin'.

Karen, I must get over to your PTR. I'm so behind on a couple. I can't to read it though.

:headache:

Weren't you bored to years doing 45 minutes on the treadmill? OMG, or born to tears. :rotfl2: OMG OR BORED TO TEARS. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl:I have typos every two seconds these days. I really think it's stress with parents/brother. My brother phoned last night and wants me to feel coconut oil to my mom. WISH ME LUCK. :rotfl:

Anyway, how did I get off you? Weren't you bored Nancy? I guess outside is kind of mush right now, eh?

And I think I lied. It's 45 each way to the bus up to my parents. ONLY 40 to WW. :rotfl:

I make no sense.

If I do go WW online it might come at a good time. Nancy, I've done an experiment for the past month or more and didn't do my usual workout to see where only walking would take me. I guess FAR. :rotfl:

Anyway, when I add back in I bet I will plateau or gain for a bit.

So now I'm going to slowly add back in my workout because I can FEEL the muscle loss. That's what makes many people smaller. Truly. Jean proved that. You only have to look at how much bigger some athletes look when they stand beside *dieters* or naturally skinny people to know that.

Anyway, I'm a ramblin'.
