My girls are just the same it's so annoying, they love a clean bedroom but not keeping it like that

Doug had an MRI done on Monday. We go to Indy on th 18th for his check up. He has been doing better and better with each treatment. He will start #5 at the end of this month.

I'm exhausted! My house is almost ready to host 16 women for a sit down meal tomorrow for our Bunko Christmas party. It is a lot of work making room to seat 16. I have 10 in the dining room and 6 in my living room. I set up my dinette as a buffet. I usually have buffets in my foyer, but I have a 10 foot Christmas tree eating it's space.

Okay...it's my turn to need help with Jon. He is refusing to eat lately. Usually, he can be picky. But, he's flat out refusing whole meals. Including not eating breakfast.

It is very important for all children to have balanced diets. It is quadrupley important for Jon to eat well. First, it's important to keep him healthy. Second, he needs food for fuel...as just existing takes so much out of him. Third, for growth...because he doesn't.

I HATE threatening over food. But, he has to eat. He has refused to eat breakfast the past few days. Stating he's not hungry.

He really HAS to eat. I've offered him ensure, etc. for b-fast. Nope. I've offered to have him pick out some new b-fast foods. Nope. He didn't eat dinner last night. No b-fast this morning.

I've threatened to punish him for no b-fast. But, I don't know if that's the right thing to do.

OUCH ....give us a tough one why don't you.
1. He is already "punishing himself" by not eating.. while it won't kill him..
as you pointed out HE REALLY NEEDS to eat. Adding a "punishment" when it's food might actually make it worse.
2. ANY CHANCE he is slipping something when you are not seeing it ??
3. Our Pediatrician... always says "WHEN" they get hungry .. THEY WILL EAT"... I tell him .. "Yeah.. I know.. but it does not make me feel any better right now.

Jon is probably trying to assert some new Independence and challenge your authority. He's getting at the right age for a "how far can I go with this"...
we see it a lot when our kids are toddlers.. then again around age 8-9. And I am seeing things like this with Joshua.. now as he is 14

With Sarabeth and Joshua..when they are not eating... I pull out a rare treat.. and THAT USUALLY gets them thinking food again.
For Sarabeth.. it's my special "Juice Cocktail".. of Passion Fruit, Pineapple juice, Orange Juice and a little "Cherry or Tropical Punch Kool-Aid" .. mix that together.. and within 15-30 minutes she finds her appetitie... Joshua is tougher.. but some Nachos with Cheese and Jalapeños usually wakes him up.

Leo woke up this morning with his right eye all red and swollen. Took him to the Dr. and sure enough, it's pink eye. So he's home with Gramma today and I'll have to stay home with him tomorrow to keep his contagions out of school. And IN my house. Eeeeewwww. I hope he doesn't get a complex when I spray myself down in Lysol each time I touch him.

I'm pretty annoyed with work right now; I have to stay home with Leo tomorrow, while the rest of the office enjoys an afternoon of holiday partying. i.e: no work will be done. I have projects I need to work on, but am not allowed to telecommute because one former employee abused that. Yes, I'm OFFERING to work while everyone else parties down, and am told I have to use sick time instead and twiddle my thumbs not getting stuff done. Makes a girl want to run to WDW, y'know?

Jen, is he acting at all like it's a power-struggle thing, or do you buy that he's just not hungry? Leo goes through periods when he's just not very hungry and doesn't eat much. I can't think of a time when he skipped a meal entirely, but he'll skip snacks during those times, and it usually involves bad allergies or an oncoming cold. He, too, really NEEDS those calories, so I feel your angst.

No new meds that would be causing appetite issues. I've tried EVERYTHING the last few weeks. And now it has progressed to b-fast. He doesn't seem like it's a power struggle...although he is in that tween stage and can sometimes have a 'tude. He says he's not hungry.

I know this isn't a HUGE deal overall. But, his health is so dicey that it can be a huge deal for him...KWIM?

Jen- I'm not sure what to say. He's old enough to be told that it's not a choice and it's what keeps him healthy. Since that doesn't seem to sway him, I guess I would punish him with a loss of priviledges. If it were any other kids, I wouldn't think it was such a big deal but he needs to eat to stay healthy. Good luck.

I sent out my cards, ornament and secret santa today. So, that can be crossed off my list. I also had a nice breakfast alone with a good book.

The kids will be home in about an hour, so I should go get some things done so I can leave town tomorrow after PE. Part of me wants to have the whole house clean before I leave and part of me wants Kirt and the little kids to clean it before I get home. At least if I ask him to make sure it's tidy, I know he'll do it.

I think I'll just have B do her chores and get the laundry done before I leave. Time to get packing!


Oh! BTW- I picked the Mickey necklace that no one liked! i really loved it since it was a little more blingy. The swirl one was cute, but it was $40 vs $20. Then they had a $5 coupon if you joined their mailing list and free shipping. So I only paid $15.

Here's a thought to run by you: when my blood sugar gets really low, I lose my appetite and don't want to eat. Which of course is exactly what I NEED to do to fix the situation. Think that could be happening? I always have some protein-carb combo before bed, like milk or cheese, and it seems to help with the mornings.
