Getting my hair cut today at 9 am. I have HAD IT. Can't stand combing the snarls out for one more day. Argh! So, I'm thinking shoulder length. Bob's not thrilled but he'll get over it. I hope....

Unfortunately, I can't afford to have it colored by my usual girl right now (it's 125 for cut/color) so I'll be doing it myself. What do you guys suggest (I remember some of you doing it yourelves....) that I use? I haven't done my own color in years and that was back in the "poor" days when I used whatever was on sale at Kmart! (dude, that was sad....)

Sorry had to laugh @ this. My mom got home Saturday and Sunday morning asked me when I was going to decorate. So I told her I wasn't decorating this year. She was shocked and worried about me. I told her I might decorate after Disney. We'll see. I feel Grinchy this year too.

I saw Jo Friday PM... literally ran into her, just after she did something pretty special. The excitement on her and the rest of the moms faces was literally priceless!

She got to meet a crabby TINK and over tired lil'l dis, before she was off to more amazing stuff and we were off to close the park!

I'm feeling better today. I have some energy back, but still coughing up a lung. The baby BIL is coming over tonight to cook speghetti that we didn't get to on our trip. We had a blast btw; I'll have to do a mini TR since I can't finish regular ones. My DH and his brother got plastered at Epcot.

yes my cards are in progress too. nothing fancy, just cards from store. it's taking me forever to sign and get addresses. i can't imagine making my own cards. besides, i'm not that creative!

Okay. I'm literally sitting here with tears in my eyes... you guys rock! I'm having a really tough start to the week, and this just warmed my heart!

The Polar Express thing was really, really cute. The whole story came alive during the hour train ride. They had everything from the hobo to the tap dancing waiters to the Christmas bell. The kids were in heaven!

OMG, I would be too - I loooove the Polar Express!

Thank you to V, Leo and Gramma, Angela & Jo for our wonderful meets. It meant the world to me to meet you, and hope to see you soon someday real soon.

Do you have a Sally Beauty Supply nearby? I highly recommend their line of color called Ion. My color's never looked better since I started using it! The girls (or guys) there will tell you all you need to know.

Okay, I've got a couple minutes, so here's the scoop...

First, Leo had an awful day at school yesterday. Teacher said he was totally disruptive, talking during a test and refused to take that test. Also refused to do the writing assignment because he wanted to write about spiders and was told to write about something else.

Those who've met Leo know that he's anything but a trouble-maker. That's not my bias - he's really a pacifist. I don't know what to make of this behavior; I've never seen it myself and have never heard of it from his other schools. There's no question in my mind he's acting out, but about what? He was at Dad's this weekend, but can it be as simple as that? I don't know. I talked with him about it - explaining how important it is to be quiet and do what's assigned - and he felt pretty badly about it. He chose to write an apology to his teacher and was really, really good about doing his homework last night. I.E: not at all like he was described as being in school.

And is it really such a big deal what he writes about, so long as he practices writing? This isn't the first time it's been an issue. I keep wanting to say, "Let him write about whatever the hell he wants - stop stifling his creativity!"


In other unfortunate news, I can't afford to continue with school right now. I'm in a weird position - I can afford my mortgage and HELOC payments no problem, but have a couple scary deadlines coming up soon: 1. a balloon payment of like $100,000 will be due on my mortgage in 1.5 years, and my HELOC ends a couple years after that. Right now, those two amounts combined equal the now-diminished value of my home, so I can't possibly refinance either. I have to pay down the HELOC (which I've been using to finance school - WAY better interest rate than student loans) to have a fighting chance of refinancing down the road. So that stupid degree will be delayed a while longer; instead of shelling out $$$ for courses, I'll need to put that toward the HELOC. I'm sad, but it's not the end of the world. It's not like the degree would net me a higher salary than I have now anyway, though it would just feel good to complete it.

So that's my crappy week so far.

I'm not saying what he did wasn't wrong. But, generally, kids like Leo don't just pull things out of their rears like this...IYKWIM. Generally, there is some sort of explanation.

And I hear you on the creativity. Although I see it from a teacher's perspective also. But, you and I are similar in many ways. I think we need to encourage basic skills, and not always "content" per se. But, hey...I'm a weird hippy tree-hugging momma...who likes for her child to be able to express his creativity.

The only issues I really know of at Dad's is that Leo doesn't get a lot of interaction with his dad - he says Daddy spends all his time making cartoons on the computer, playing video games (that they won't allow Leo to play because 'only 2 can play and that's Daddy and his wife'), watching TV or sleeping. Sounds fun, no? He also eats a bunch of junk and is allowed to do whatever he wants - no rules.
It's hard to say about friends. He likes school overall and has little to say about it that's negative, so I think that's going well.
