TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Well finally, someone else with this issue!! :rotfl: I was starting to feel really alone! FWIW.... I TRY to do my running in the morning.... before I drink ANYTHING. Usually no bladder issues then. But if I run in the afternoon or evening... watch out!! I have found if I stop drinking about 2-3 hours before the workout, I can usually do okay. Otherwise.... maybe I just say ...Depends aren't just for old folks!

That is great! The treadclimber is good for a similar workout. I SWEAR I sweat more on the TC than I do running!

Yep I'm better in the morning but I rarely have time in the morning to get in a good workout. So evening after the kids go to bed is my only time. I told everyone no one is aloud to come in and talk to me because it seems like when someone starts talking to me and I lose my focus I get an 'urge' and then can't stop  and have to jump off quickly! Weird!

Yeah I've heard recently that the slow speed high incline is just as effective as running in terms of calorie burn. Plus I sure feel it in my booty :thumbsup2

I'm getting bored of the TM though. I have an old P90 DVD (not the X one) that I might dust off :happytv:

I just caught up on 6 pages of posts!!! I've been reading every day but haven't been able to post responses and well, this is what happens..:rotfl2:

But since I have decided to read and post every day for Lent (and to stop watching mindless tv and to watch tv shows instead), can you guys tell me just a smidgen about yourselves?

Is that ok?

That way I will know all about you all.

Sorry for the repetitve questions.

Take care

Linda

First - Iceland??!! How very cool!!! Please post pics!!
I'm Jude, 45, married to a terrific DH for 20 years this OCT, mom to DS15 and DD11 (although she thinks she is DD16..)

Definitely a morning person (comatose by 10PM)
Social exerciser - have to talk when I run...
Not a runner yet but working on it. Finished my second half marathon with the Princess. I usually run about 20 miles a week, plus 5AM boot camp class at the Y 3x week
Working on getting back to my pre-wedding weight. 30 more pounds to go (trying for a 10 lb loss each challenge...)
Wish I could scrap book but am completely creatively-challenged.
Crazy family life right now between high school and middle school musical rehearsals, track and basketball practice, confirmation class and church choir.
Desperately seeking a "pause" button for life sometimes...:lmao:
Live in upstate NY but have lived in RI, Switzerland, Germany and Iraq (that last one courtesy of the US govt! :rotfl2:). Right now anywhere south is sounding pretty good....!!
First trip to WDW was in the early 70s with my parents and sisters when there was only 1 park and had actual paper tickets.

I wish I had the self confidence to homeschool
I am turning into a runner.
Me too!:goodvibes

pjlla;40263899We will welcome your input every day.... even if it is just a quick "hello"! First off.... I'd LOVE to have a meal plan thread!! I'll start it later if you would like.... or you can... whatever you want! TTYL..............P[/QUOTE said:
Oh boy, do I need this!! Please let me know if you start this!!

Quack? QUACK! I've been given over to the Donalds -- go easy on me, guys! :goodvibes

Hello to all. Hope to be kicking butt along with all of you. :thumbsup2
Welcome!!:goodvibes

Wish I KNEW what clicked this time..... I'd bottle it and sell it! Or write a book about it! The biggest thing is that I was originally "losing it for Disney" (as we all do at times) and then when we got back, I DIDN'T give up!!!

Not sure what I will plan for tonight. I'm self conscious about doing sprint intervals on the TM at the Y and that is what I had been planning. But I will be at the Y, regardless..... with gas prices where they are, I can't afford to drop DD at swim, return home, and go back later (it is 60 minutes round trip). So tonight I will be staying, using the equipment there, and then finding a quiet spot to do a bit of scrapping for an hour or so before she is done (her practice is 2 1/2 hours).

I'll start that BL meal planning thread tonight.... start getting those healthy meal ideas ready!...............P
Pam, love your attitude. And I really need to hear it when I start to get discouraged at the slow progress...Thanks!!!!

Does your Y have a track? 12x around is a mile for our Y. Not sure if you might like this but our boot camp class on Wednesday was a "run" day: steady pace
1 lap - sprint
1 lap - walking lunges
2 laps - steady pace
1 lap sprint
1 lap walking lunges
Keep repeating til you get up to 6 laps at a steady pace... I was sucking wind by the end of it!

Pamela, thank you so much for posting your before/after photos -very inspiring and motivating for me! We have had some awesome coaches the past few weeks. I have been answering the QOTD in my head and reflecting on them all day sometimes but not taking time to post my answers here.:sad2: Even though I haven't been posting, I have celebrated with you when you succeded and felt for you when times were tough.<== :)

Starting tomorrow you will see a lot more of me as I am the coach for next week:banana::banana: I hope I can do as well as the ones we've had so far!
I am going to try to have my best week ever so let's all inspire each other to have a great week:yay: 3 pounds is about the most I've ever lost in one week and that would be if I was doing WW at the very beginning or something like that but I am challenging myself to lose 3 pounds next week. If I can do that, I will pass 30 pounds lost in total:wizard:

Shawnprincess:

Good morning Donalds!:donald:

My name is Shawn and I will be your coach this week. Many thanks to Linda for being our coach last week. She is a busy lady! It looks like it will be a breeze week for me to coach with this few participants posting lately.;) I have a feeling there are many more of us just reading along but not posting - just like I have been doing for the last few weeks:sad2: Perhaps we can discuss some topics that will get more people interested and we can hear a few more opinions from new folks. I love to learn new tips, tricks and ideas from others:teacher:

It seems like every time there is a season change, life gets very busy and hectic as we transition out of one stage of year into another. So I can totally understand if you are too busy to post much, but just pop in with a few lines when you can!

One thing I am looking to do is change up my salads, which leads me to our QOTD:

QOTD Friday March 11, 2011: What do you put into a typical salad?

Make it a great day Donalds!

Shawnprincess:

Hi Shawn! Lump me in with your list of "lurkers" but I am trying to do better! I also do HH every week but somehow forget to PM my results. :rolleyes1 As for posting, I need to give myself at least an hour to read through the posts and then try to type a response. I can't access the DIS or work (well...I'm not supposed to anyway....) and sometimes I am just too pooped by the end of the day to write a coherent reply. But we're all still here!!! :goodvibes (working on becomg a quicker typist, too..).

As for my salads: romaine lettuce, carrots, grape tomatoes, broccoli, 75% FF cheese, peppers, mandarin oranges and usually about 1/4 breast of chicken or 1 hard boiled egg for some protein.

Good morning everyone!! Hope we all are happy with our numbers on the scale today, and if not, it's the start of a new week, and if you have been doing everything right, just hang in there. The scale will catch up eventually.

I'm happy to be down 3 pounds today, so all but .2 of my vacation weight is gone. Now my next goal is ONE-derland again.

Have a great day Team Donald!!
WOOHOO on the 3 lb loss! I am down 1, which is a great result for me. Slow and steady, slow and steady...and 1 lb away from my 10 lb goal!!!

**

Well.... I have a bit of a weigh-in "issue" and want to know how you all would handle it.

I had a significant gain this week. I'm not really upset about it because I know, without a doubt, it is a bloating issue (ovulation time is bad for me.... sorry if that is TMI). I figure I can handle it one of three ways.....

#1. submit my weight as usual and just call it as it stands.... a gain.

#2. wait until tomorrow or Sunday and try another weigh-in to see if things change for the better. (FWIW, in 3 years of weekly weigh-ins, I've only ever done this once..... I try hard to stick with the standard Friday weigh-in.)

#3. ask to be excused for this week (not really an option in my book..... seems more like a cop-out for this situation).

Anyhow.... my only issue with #1 is that if I use this weight, I will probably end up recording a big loss next week and that doesn't seem right, cause it wouldn't be a "true" weight loss.

Whatcha think???

Anyhow, I promised yesterday I would start the meal planning thread and I wasn't home long enough to do it! I'll try hard to get it up by this time tomorrow, at the latest!!

..............P
I vote for option #2. Give yourself a little flexibility when certain things are out of your control...

Hello all, and Happy Friday! I just barely found this thread and have been added to Team Donald. I'm not sure what else to put here to introduce myself, but I'm super excited to start :-) hopefully I'll see some loss next Friday. Decreasing my calories and increasing my activity. I'll be around for a while, as I have over 50 lbs I'd like to lose, and then maintain.

Welcome to an awesome thread!!!:cheer2:
Lisa, loved the article you posted so many pages ago! I printed it out and stuck it on my bulletin board at work.

LTS, in awe of everyone creative enough to scrapbook. :worship:

Ms B, Yay to you for getting rid of those cookies. I try to order ones that I don't like because my will power needs work yet...

Sparks, hope that you get to the bottom of your symptoms
soon. :grouphug:

I have another busy week coming up:
Saturday(tomorrow): Buffalo
Sun - Friday: Charlottesville VA (JAG School for a legal course):teacher:
Fri-Sun: Chicopee, MA for DD's basketball tournament

Hopefully I'll find a gym in VA so that I can get some exercising in. Luckily, my DH is great with the kids and I've left a detailed schedule for everyone. 3 dinners are frozen in the fridge and as a surprise, they will find the boxes of Girl Scout cookies they didn't know I ordered...

Have a great night everyone!
Jude

Well okay - true to my Lent promise I am here! Later than planned, but here.

Trial prep pretty much done in terms of filing - but two day hearing next week with a strange judge - very nervous.

First of all, thanks soooo much for your encouragement. "Coaching" was really great, just wish I had more time to post. But it got me into a habit of checking, reading and posting daily, which I want to continue.

Thanks also for telling me about yourselves.

I am learning that there are other lawyers out there on this list and that most, if not all, of us are Disney nuts lol.

I am a family lawyer by the way - and work a lot with child welfare cases - children and parents who are subject to agency involvement and/or have kids in foster care.

Stressful, but rewarding. I am a sole practitioner as well, sharing office overhead with another lawyer, who has a separate practice.

Quack? QUACK! I've been given over to the Donalds -- go easy on me, guys! :goodvibes

Hello to all. Hope to be kicking butt along with all of you. :thumbsup2

By the way, I *adore* the "I love my computer because all my friends live in it" image. That is me, to a "T" -- having moved all over the place, it's completely true. :surfweb:

Welcome!

Wish I was a bit more like that. I RARELY toss out food. I try so hard to find a way to use it up.... even cereal crumbs! (Hence my cereal crumb breakfast cookie recipe over the BL recipe thread!! )

I'll start that BL meal planning thread tonight.... start getting those healthy meal ideas ready!...............P

Is there a recipe for the cookie? I will check out the thread.

I am excited about Iceland and will absolutely post pics

Gotta get training though - "running" in the morning.

QOTD: Salads? Wish I liked them. I don't. I struggle to eat vegetables. I do like ceasar and "oriental" type salads.

I am going to try the chicken/greens sauces that Kraft puts out - a sauce for the chicken and another similar dressing for the greens. We will see how that works out.

Like cucumbers though. Brocolli salad too.

Have a great evening guys - see ya tomorrow.

Linda

Going with #2 also. Our bodies are always changing. You could also take an average of your weights for the week. There is no money at stake and this is just a friendly competition so I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)

:welcome: Great to have you here. Jump in and answer the Questions of the Day as you can and let us know how your days are going.

I'm happy to be down 3 pounds today, so all but .2 of my vacation weight is gone. Now my next goal is ONE-derland again.

All the scrappers here are so inspiring to me. And the added benefit of not being able to snack while scrapping is so helpful too.
:woohoo: Off to Onederland!:tink: (we need to ask for an Alice smilie!)

Not being able to eat is a great thing about scrapbooking. When I really get busy I will forget to eat until I am starving, which isn't always a good thing.

Well, I skipped my workout yesterday. I don't feel too guilty about missing the workout since it was the first day all week that I skipped and my legs have been feeling awfully tired lately, so it was probably a needed break.
:thumbsup2 Rest is just as important as the workout so listen to your body and let it recover when it needs to.

I hate school groups!!! Crowds are different. But school groups move in big masses. You think you found a quiet spot then 30 noisey kids descend at once!
I hate that! Very annoying. Sometimes it works to go and do a museum backwards depending on how many groups are there.

Well I'm down 4.2 from last Friday :cool1: I had a small gain last week so I got it plus some extra back off!!
ooh I was so excited to see a new number set on the scale!!!! I had been hanging in the low 180's for a couple weeks and loved to see it pop up in the 170's this time :cheer2:
:woohoo::cheer2: WOOO HOOO!:cheer2::woohoo: That is awesome!

I've done well training for running and never in my life thought I would ever run but I can jog 30min now at least. However my bladder does not cooperate
I have the same problem with the bike! I try to hold out until right before the cool down and then fast walk to the bathroom, do what I have to do, and get back to the bike for the cool down.

ran today.
It was ugly. I mean really ugly.

I started coughing really hard after I finished, poor kids rushed to my aid cause they thought I was dying. LOL
It was hard work today, not sure if I'm ready for week 5!
 Don't push too hard.

Fiddlesticks.... that stinks! Poor DD (and poor Momma). Sorry to hear all this. Hopefully you can keep the house in ship-shape order until next weekend! I didn't realize that kids that age got croup.
I didn't really either until she got it last year and I took her in. It is rare, especially since she doesn't have asthma but the cough is unmistakable! And at this age you can't treat it with a steamy shower (found that out after I tried it). DH had a lot of problems with croup as a kid so I am guessing this is from him.

Maybe they could plan some sort of band enrichment for those kids for those days.... maybe a speaker or some sort of special practice??
I wish. I don't see why they can't work on the same music with them anyway but they didn't ask me! I would guess they will just watch a movie on the day with the sub. She has some projects to work on so I am just going to bring her home as long as I am not busy and she can more time to do them.

I don't consider it snacking..... I just think of it as an extended meal time. Unfortunately, when I'm at work and have one 20 minute break all day for my meal, I can't really do that. And I can't eat in front of the kids while teaching, so some days I just have to go hungry.
I usually have a snack when the kids are at Resource when I am in the Elem School or during the Planning Period in Middle School. Somedays the timing works out great, others, not so much. But I have actually only subbed once this year so it hasn't impacted my current plan. I have done my one required day (to stay on the list for next year) and may only do a few more if I am requested. I am really trying to focus on me and my need to eat well and go to the gym. I will have much more flexibility in my schedule next year so I will try to sub more. Unfortunately I am not working for Disney money, but for college money. Apparently DD is going to want to eat and buy books after we send her off in a few years so we are trying to save all we can!
Well finally, someone else with this issue!! :rotfl: I was starting to feel really alone! Otherwise.... maybe I just say ...Depends aren't just for old folks!
:rolleyes1

WOW... that must have been so great! I took a picture of the scale the morning I finally got into a new weight category that I had been trying to achieve (this was about 2 years ago). I LOVE that picture! Even though the number wasn't my "goal" weight, it was a symbol of my hard work and ongoing success.
:rotfl: I thought maybe I was the only one that would do something like that! I am getting pretty close to ONEderland so I have put the camera up in my bedroom because I want to be able to take a photo when it happens!!!

Wish I could scrap book but am completely creatively-challenged.

LTS, in awe of everyone creative enough to scrapbook.
I don't think I have a creative bone in my body. But almost all of my bones know how to cheat! :lmao: I steal layout ideas from anywhere I can find them! I use some for the color combinations, some for the theme, some for the design and some I just flat out copy the whole thing!

Actually you might find that a Creative Memories Scrapbooking Class would help get you started. They keep things pretty simple to start out and almost all of their materials come with instructions and photos to help you use them. I love their kits with the booklets that show you how to do every page! And the scrapbook board here has a huge thread with tons of layouts that you can "borrow" :rolleyes1 ideas from.

Luckily, my DH is great with the kids and I've left a detailed schedule for everyone. 3 dinners are frozen in the fridge and as a surprise, they will find the boxes of Girl Scout cookies they didn't know I ordered...
:thumbsup2 Mom of the year for that surprise! And it is great that you can leave and not have to worry about what is happening at home.

Well, $250 in medicine and DD is already doing better. I just about had a heartastroke when they told me how much the steroid inhaler was ($220) but it is cheaper and easier than an ER visit in the middle of the night. And we will meet our pharmacy OOP deductible pretty quick now!

We spent the afternoon watching movies-- I finally got to see Finding Nemo in it's entirety. When it came out in the theater DD was only 3 and got scared so I spent most of the movie with her outside in the hall. Since then I have seen bits and pieces but had never actually seen the part with Crush or with the whale. I love Crush even more now. 'Cha. Totally Dude.

Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend everyone!:goodvibes

Pam- I'm with lovetoscrap! Wait and see how things go! I've had a great week working out and eating but showed no loss as of this morning. I'm going to weigh in again on Monday morning. Things come up and our bodies are changing constantly! Some days I can work off 2 pounds in an hour long workout and some days I can't. As long as you weigh in each week is what counts!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm behind on putting in the weigh ins but will get to it tomorrow after work. 4 clients tomorrow! Had an exciting night at school BINGO night! They did a 50/50 raffle and I WON!!!!! SO excited!!!! Nice chunk of change made my day extra special!

Can't wait until we merge in two weeks!

Good morning team -

We are up getting DS ready for overnight campout with the Cub Scout troop he helps. They are doing a land nav course today. It should be a nice day with highs close to 60 but down in the 30s overnight.

Don't forget to submit your WI results to Tigger by 7:30 pm Monday night!

Here is today's QOTD:

QOTD Saturday March 12, 2011

Do you have an area of your body that you consider to be a "problem area"?

If yes, do you perform special exercises for your problem area? Does it help? Have you found ways to hide your problem area with clothes?

For me, it would be my waist. First of all, I am short waisted (short torso/longer legs) which is a curse itself but to make matters worse I've never had a very defined waist (waist measurement 10-12 inches less than bust/hips). Right now my waist is only 4 inches less than my chest measurement! My chest has slowly deflated over the past year of weight loss - good thing - but I can't get much at all to come off my waist.
I don't do any special exercises and don't have a good wardrobe solution to hide this but it's been on my mind to search the Internet.

DisFam, congrats on seeing the 170's!!!:yay: Boy am I jealous! I just finished a week at home with DS 13 for Spring Break and I am glad for normal routine starting Monday.;)

Pamela, glad you got a sub job yesterday even if it was boring. I vote for option #2 for your WI as well although I think option #1 is fine as well. Whatever your personal preference is. I've always done #2 in those situations but sometimes later wish I'd done #1 so I could have a bigger loss than normal the next week, I guess that's me being selfish! So the big cook never happened yesterday....the only thing I made was homemade tomato soup. My plans were to make a layered "Mexican" casserole, quinona salad and YOUR cous-cous salad along with the soup. I needed to go to the market for a few things and that didn't happen hence the bacon and eggs supper. Today is a NEW day however! We do not have ANY of the bottled salad dressings from the US here, it's one of the things I miss the most. I've tried a few of the ones they have here but they don't taste good to me.

Miss Out & About, thanks for explaining your avatar - very cool!!! I love flags!

Buffy, sorry about the ugle run but it's over and in the books now! I love the feeling when my run is over, I am so proud of myself! Just keep at it and you will continue to see progress (that's what I tell myself;))

Welcome, MARIE !!! We are so glad you found us! I am on the same plan as you, decreasing calories and increasing activity. You will find lots of encouragement here.

Jude, it is great to hear from you. Boy, you DO have a busy week coming up. You are busy most of the time so nothing new there!:) Congrats on the 1 pound loss - 1 pound is a good loss for me too. And, one pound away from your 10 pound goal:yay::yay:AWESOME!!! WAY TO GO!!! I focus on .2 increments since my weight loss is SOO slow and it helps me mentally.
My neighbor here is an AF Jag. If you find that pause button, do let us all know:goodvibes

Linda, sorry you are not a salad eater. I had not even thought that some people may not be. Good luck getting your exercise in in the mornings.

LTS, whoa that's an expensive day at the pharmacy. But you are right, it is worth it. I love Finding Nemo, one of the best Disney movies. Hope DD is feeling better soon.

Well, I'd better get downstairs and help with getting DS ready for his overnight. I'll be back later today to check in again. Have a great Saturday!

Shawnprincess:

Good morning Team Donald!!

ran today.
It was ugly. I mean really ugly.

I did 1 mile in 17:40
1.6 (half of a 5K) in 28:30
walked to 2 miles for a total time of 38:10

I started coughing really hard after I finished, poor kids rushed to my aid cause they thought I was dying. LOL
It was hard work today, not sure if I'm ready for week 5!
:hug:The great thing about the c25k is you can be flexible, repeat a week, or just repeat a day, see how you feel and then go up to week 5. Everyone has those awful runs, even the fast marathoners, and hopefully the next run will be so much better for you. You have stuck with it for 4 weeks, so you are really doing great. Remember how hard that first week was? I remember when I first started c25k, and was talking to a girl I work with who is a real runner, her advice was if i felt like I was dying, to slow down. It doesn't matter how slow you go, you are getting the work out in, training those muscles, and getting your body in shape. The speed will come in time. I'm still waiting for it to come to me. :rotfl2: I'm still averaging 14-15 min miles, but I have come a long way, and you will too. Nothing like a disney race on the books to keep you focused. Hang in there, Buffy. You are going to get there.

I gotta tell you.... this is pretty scary talk to me. I SINCERELY hope that you are talking to a professional right now. And your family needs to know how you are feeling. We are ALWAYS here to listen, but you need some real life people to help you through this. I think I can speak for the group when I say that we care DEEPLY about you and are very concerned when we hear that you are doing so poorly emotionally. PLEASE get some help and let us know how you are doing.
50sJayne- Pamela said this so well. We do care for you, and hope you are ok. We are always here to listen, and, and hope you are able to get some help and start feeling better soon. Sending prayers and pixiedust your way.

P
You and disfam are not alone, although, I am surprised sometimes when I'm actually running I'm ok, but right after when I start walking back to my car, I have an issue. Sneezing. Coughing. Those are my times. I wonder if while I run, my abd/pelvic muscles are more tensed, and that keeps me in control. I just know it's not fun, but lots of us are out there. My friend had a bladder suspension, and raves about it. Runs without an issue, but it has to get much worse for me to warrant surgery.

Pamela- I think I would go with weighing again today, and taking the lower weight. If I have a big gain, I will wait til sat or sun and take the lower, which is what I did last week, and my big loss this week is only because of my big gain last week. It's not a true loss because it's vacation weight coming off, but if I hadn't been on track this week, it wouldn't have been a loss at all, so it is still a loss. On the other hand, we all can have those fluctuations, and if you've been faithfully weighing every friday, I think it's fine to take friday's weight, and even if you see it gone next week, it's your loss. I don't think you need to be exempt from weighin. It's nice Tracey is flexible with the weights now and you don't need to send them in til monday. So there you go, I vote for choice one or two.

Shawn Do you and dh have a fun date night planned without ds? I don't remember hearing about paris. How was your trip?

LTS- sorry dd is sick for her birthday, and the inhaler was so expensive. It is crazy how much medication costs these days. I hope she is feeling better real soon.

Jude- I started scrapbooking with my first disney trip, and will never scrap everything, but I love scrapping my disney trips. There's lots of kits out there too, and I know on the scrapping board there's a thread with lots of ideas. They are fun to look at.

Congrats to everyone who posted losses this week!! :cool1:

I'm going to head to the park and run/walk with ds. We drive down, and that way if he doesn't want to go as long as me, he can wait in the car and read or play ds while I finish. I want to do 3 miles today.
I did upload some pics to walmart and will do my little scrap book this weekend. I had been getting a 5X7 disney scrapbook kit at wdw each trip, but a couple trips ago, I got the last 2 on clearance, and they stopped making them, so I found a couple more on E-bay. So I have one for this trip and one more. I did a big scrapbook for our first and second trips, but the last 3 I just did the small book.
I should clean the house before I go to walmart, so I'm going to get moving.

Have a great weekend!

QOTD Saturday March 12, 2011

Do you have an area of your body that you consider to be a "problem area"?

If yes, do you perform special exercises for your problem area? Does it help? Have you found ways to hide your problem area with clothes?

Well, it does beg the question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" :rotfl2:

On any given day, I could find a problem with any area -- but I work hard not to. The area that usually creeps through and bugs me anyway is my hips. I think they are wide enough to breed an entire "V" army...but they are slowly but surely getting smaller. I don't do any special exercises, although I believe what I should do is work on my upper body with weights so it will be more proportional...

I got up and ran 4M this morning, then went for my WW weigh in. I was down 1.8, which made me quite happy. This is a different number from my BL weigh in, but I consistently weigh differently on different days (and scales), so there you have it.

Kathy -- The park sounds lovely, I hope you have a great time! :goodvibes I have to pick ds up from his church lock-in at 10, then get him started on the homework he didn't do last night. I'm definitely heading to bed early and sleeping in tomorrow!

Shawn -- Enjoy the night without ds, sometimes it's lovely for it to be just the two of you again :lovestruc

Tracey -- Congrats on the win, I have a feeling you are just a lucky person! :shamrock:

lovetoscrap -- When I was at WDW for the Princess, I finally got to see the "Finding Nemo" musical at AK. It was really cute, I'd forgotten how enjoyable the movie was. Glad you got to see it! :fish:

Linda -- One of the nicest people I "know" electronically is a lawyer who happens to be on this very thread  (yes, that's you, Lisa! -- and Jude seems pretty nice, too!), glad you've found people who can understand the stresses of your work and encourage you!

Pamela -- I love your idea of taking a picture of the scale! I needed a reminder today not to get discouraged if it didn't all come off like on the BL. My WW leader said everyone who started in January is now coming into a normal "slump", and we need to power through it. I am going to look for a new recipe to try this week, figure how I can add non-areobic activity into my day (can't sweat from Mon.-Wed. because of a hair process I'm having done tomorrow afternoon -- but I can still walk or ride the exercise bike!), and think about one new fruit or veggie I can introduce this week. Gotta keep it fresh! :thumbsup2 I think you should let your conscience be your guide on the weigh-in. If I know I'll be up on Friday for whatever reason, I usually go with Monday's weigh-in. But I hold myself to a lower standard than you do! ;):rotfl:

Marie -- :welcome: So glad you've joined us!

DisFam95 -- Fabulous loss! :yay:

Happy Weekend, Donalds! :donald:

Maria :upsidedow

Hello all, and Happy Friday! I just barely found this thread and have been added to Team Donald. I'm not sure what else to put here to introduce myself, but I'm super excited to start :-) hopefully I'll see some loss next Friday. Decreasing my calories and increasing my activity. I'll be around for a while, as I have over 50 lbs I'd like to lose, and then maintain.

Sorry I missed this earlier! WELCOME to our happy family!

Unfortunately for me, it is no longer just an "urge". I need to be proactive in the protection area ahead of time, if you catch my drift......;)

Honestly.... even though I am an occasional runner, I don't love it and would rather walk... fast walk, slow walk, incline walk. I think that is why I like the treadclimber so much.

I get bored with the TM at time, so I try to change it up.... one day I do a straight 5K run. Next time it might be incline training (5 minutes of nearly flat walking alternated with 5 minutes of full incline walking), then maybe sprint intervals the next day. And I change what I am watching or listening to. At the Y I listen to music.... at home I watch TV. Usually something I've saved on the DVR, but sometimes a movie. I find the time goes by so much quicker if I can kind of "forget" what I am doing.

I'm Jude, 45, married to a terrific DH for 20 years this OCT, mom to DS15 and DD11 (although she thinks she is DD16..)
I'm a medmal lawyer and also a part-time Army JAG
Definitely a morning person (comatose by 10PM)
Social exerciser - have to talk when I run...
Not a runner yet but working on it. Finished my second half marathon with the Princess. I usually run about 20 miles a week,

At what point do you think you could call yourself a runner??:confused3 You sound like a runner to me!!!

Wish I could scrap book but am completely creatively-challenged.

I second what LTS said.... I am not particularly artistic or creative. So I get a LOT of "help" from magazines and other people. We don't call it "stealing".... we call it "scraplifting"!!!:lmao:

Crazy family life right now between high school and middle school musical rehearsals, track and basketball practice, confirmation class and church choir.
Desperately seeking a "pause" button for life sometimes...:lmao:

I know the feeling! When we are in the middle of Robotics season and the start of "high" season for swim, things ar NUTS!!I often find my "pause" time when waiting in the car for someone!

Oh boy, do I need this!! Please let me know if you start this!!

I'm trying to get it done TODAY!! I'll post a link when it's up.

No inside track... and obviously the outside "trail" is still not useable (and probably won't be until mid-May). Oh well.

WOOHOO on the 3 lb loss! I am down 1, which is a great result for me. Slow and steady, slow and steady...and 1 lb away from my 10 lb goal!!!

Let us know when to start the 10 pound celebration!!

I have another busy week coming up:
Jude
We'll be thinking of you during your busy week!

Thanks for taking the time to coach. We all appreciate it! And it was nice to learn something new about you!

Is there a recipe for the cookie? I will check out the thread.

There is a recipe over on the BL recipe thread... Cinnamon breakfast cookies.

Going with #2 also. Our bodies are always changing. You could also take an average of your weights for the week. There is no money at stake and this is just a friendly competition so I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)
Thanks for the advise. And I'm so glad you finally got to see Finding Nemo! I love that movie. I've never seen the musical at AK, but DD and I are going to correct that in May! DD has most of the music from it on her Ipod, so I'll be ready to sing along!

Do something special with the "found" money!! Or save it for a vacation!!

Thanks for the reply to my conundrum.

Here is today's QOTD:

QOTD Saturday March 12, 2011

Do you have an area of your body that you consider to be a "problem area"?

If yes, do you perform special exercises for your problem area? Does it help? Have you found ways to hide your problem area with clothes?

Well... unfortunately the part I would consider my "problem" area is hard to cover with clothes.... my FACE!! Sure, I'd love to have a flatter belly (lots of loose skin from being over weight and being pregnant), but that won't happen, short of surgery. I think the rest is "okay".... legs/hips are decent, arms are okay (upper area is a bit "flappy", but it doesn't bother me too much). But I HATE looking my age!! And I think that my weight loss has made the skin on my face/neck look more loose and saggy. Plus, I definitely FEEL younger since I've lost the weight and gotten more active.... but unfortunately my face didn't come along for the ride!

I've joked in the past about saving up for my future facelift.... but as time goes by, that is becoming less of a joke and more of a true consideration. I'm really not particularly vain, but I hate looking older than my years... and I definitely feel that I DO look older. It would take a lot of thinking/prayer first. I undestand the risks involved in ANY surgery an general anesthesia and it would be so STUPID to DIE for vanity's sake... but I'll never say never.

Is the layered mexican casserole anything you'd like to share??

Despite my best ideas, I don't think I'll end up with enough time this weekend to do any big cooking. I've got to head out about noonish to attend a Rainbow Girls event with DD. Not sure when we will get home... hopefully not after 5 pm. Then tomorrow after church some of the senior swimmers are planning an extra practice... so I will be off to the Y in the afternoon. Good for an extra workout, but not good for my schedule. But my meals are planned for the week, so that is one step in the right direction!

Good morning Team Donald!!

Thanks!

Well, it does beg the question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" :rotfl2:

I love the SOM reference!! My favorite movie ever!

I got up and ran 4M this morning, then went for my WW weigh in. I was down 1.8, which made me quite happy. This is a different number from my BL weigh in, but I consistently weigh differently on different days (and scales), so there you have it.

But I hold myself to a lower standard than you do! ;):rotfl:

Nice results with the weigh-in!!!

It was nice that the WW leader was talking up slumps and such. EVeryone needs to know that the slumps happen to everyone! I could feel the bloat coming on so I was able to mentally prepare myself before I got on the scale.... and THANK GOODNESS I did. It was a bigger gain than I really expected! Under normal circumstances, if I wasn't prepared, I think I would have ended up in TEARS! I had a great week... worked out nearly every day, ate properly (except for Friday's splurge).... measuring/weighing my portions, journaling everything. So it was still a disappointment, even though I as prepared.

And don't you worry... my standard isn't too high... I'm just a creature of habit!!

Happy Saturday!! Well folks... I've been sitting here TOO LONG! So I need to chat quickly and get moving.

After all of the folks who were kind enough to chime in, I've decided to go with today's weight.... which wasn't much better than yesterday.:headache: I'll PM it to Tracey and MOVE ON!

Workout for today is done (two 30-minute videos), dinner is in the crockpot (pork loin for pulled pork sandwiches), two loads of laundry through the cycle (but still need folding). Next up is a shower and I'll get dressed and ready to make lunch and head to DD's event today. I might find 30 minutes to vacuume or do a bit of picking up in there too.

I need to go now! TTYL...................P

:wave2:

Woke up to DD NOT coughing! :woohoo: It is amazing how fast things can clear up with the right treatment.

She wants to make her own birthday cake so I don't even have to do that this weekend! Love the enthusiasm of an 11 year old. Her big sister is going to help her and they will have a great time. So I have a pretty quiet weekend. May have to run up to the pool today to help with an interview for a potential coach. We are having a really hard time finding one this year and we are all starting to get a little panicked!

Unfortunately she has just informed me she wants to go to Olive Garden for her birthday tomorrow. NOT a good option for the low carb diet. Need to see if I can steer her in another direction!

I got ALL of our photos into the Memory Manager software and sorted last night. :woohoo: My next project is to go through and pull out ones of friends and send them to them or put them on CD's for them.

We are up getting DS ready for overnight campout with the Cub Scout troop he helps. They are doing a land nav course today. It should be a nice day with highs close to 60 but down in the 30s overnight.
I hope your son has a great time! Sounds like a lot of fun. (well not for me cause I don't do anything that even resembles camping, but I am sure he will have a great time! :rotfl: )

Do you have an area of your body that you consider to be a "problem area"?

If yes, do you perform special exercises for your problem area? Does it help? Have you found ways to hide your problem area with clothes?

. . . don't have a good wardrobe solution to hide this but it's been on my mind to search the Internet.

Right now my biggest issue is the "fat roll" under my belly. It has been my biggest source of concern. It is shrinking nicely with the weight loss so I am very happy about that. I am really hoping I don't have any excess skin issues because of it when I get all the extra weight off. I am not really doing anything special other than just cheering when I realize it is smaller.

Clothing wise my issue is really that I am large chested. Always have been, even when I was skinny. It makes getting clothes that fit very difficult because in order to fit on top they are too big in the arms and waist.

Are you able to get the TLC show "What Not to Wear" over there? They have some good advice and work with all different body types. You just have to watch enough of them to find someone that looks like you! Their website may have some ideas for you. I haven't watched it much but when it first came out they had a "pooh" sized woman on and they showed how a turtleneck made her multiple chins look worse and her face look fatter. I wore a lot of mock tnecks at that time and after I saw that I immediately put them in a box and haven't worn one since!

My friend had a bladder suspension, and raves about it. Runs without an issue, but it has to get much worse for me to warrant surgery.

I have at least 2 friends that have had the bladder thing done too but there is going to have be an absolute worldwide Depends shortage before I do it! :rotfl: I actually think that getting some of the weight off will really help and I feel like I can already tell a difference, but that may just be wishful thinking.

I was thinking last weekend that I need to do some quick and easy smaller books for our last few Disney trips. Definitely not as many photos. I may have to stalk ebay for for some more of those kits! I also want to do a "through the years" album with the photos of my kids with the characters as they have grown, but I think I need to wait a few more years for that one!

Well, it does beg the question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" :rotfl2:

lovetoscrap -- When I was at WDW for the Princess, I finally got to see the "Finding Nemo" musical at AK. It was really cute, I'd forgotten how enjoyable the movie was. Glad you got to see it! :fish:
I love that show! Actually as I was watching the movie I had the music going through my head. I was thinking last night I need to see if I can find all on line because I really want to listen to it now.

Everyone have a healthy and happy day! :goodvibes

HELP! I need a restaurant that serves Fettuccini Alfredo and good bread, but also has good non pasta options. I only see one thing that I could order at Olive Garden and DH really dislikes OG so I need to try to talk DD into somewhere else. She is easy to please, she just wants Alfredo and bread.

Here it is! As promised! I'll add more later when I have time to chit-chat more! Follow this link to our new BL meal planning thread!!

:thumbsup2 I will get my list out and add to it!

DO TELL!!

Regarding the salad from the restaurant that's pure EVIL! It's lots of romaine, shredded mozzarella, red cabbage, grilled chicken, bacon, chopped pecans ... but, what makes it HORRIBLE (horrible in a not-good-for-you way) is the dressing that comes with it: homemade warm and spicy honey mustard with mustard seed. It's a massively HUGE salad. It must have a gazillion calories. Now I've gotta go read about something else to take my mind off it.

Do you have a Macaroni Grill or Carabbas near by? They are a tad spendy but do have other things than just pasta.

Not sure where you are but Old Spagetti Factory also has some great choices

Yeah—had a c-section..that area I just can’t fix it myself—wish I could afford surgery but I can’t so so the best I can. I have a lot of muscle built up under but there’s definite loose skin. I do core exercises and use the abdominal machines at the gym—it’s all I can do.
I'll catch up later--doing a little better, have more ideas anyway thanks to Im's ;-)

Definitely my stomach/waist. It's huge!! No matter what I do, nothing seems to help.

Buffy, sorry about the ugle run but it's over and in the books now! I love the feeling when my run is over, I am so proud of myself! Just keep at it and you will continue to see progress (that's what I tell myself;))

Yep, on the books but I think it was mostly bad because of my cold.

I think I might repeat week 4, between my cough and my legs I just don't think I'm ready for week 5. I did slow way down yesterday, I ran at 3.0-3.5 and walked at 2.5 - 3.0 when I typically walk at 3.0 - 3.2 and run at a 4.0. I almost didn't finish the last 5 minute run but I wasn't going to give up!

It's actually nice outside today and above 50º so I'm considering going outside and raking a bit of the yard. It really got away from me last year and the bad thing about the snow melting, is that I can actually see how bad it is again. LOL

Hello Donalds Checking in as part of my "Lent promise".

Lazy day today - I bagged my long walk til tomorrow because we had a heavy rainfall warning. And I have not been eating OP at all.

Made my husband's cookies and while I did not pig out on them, ate too much cookie dough And I am supposed to weigh in Monday!:scared1:

Not happy at all, but need to move on I guess.

Rest of day ok.

Am going out the morning and may do Biggest Loser DVD later to burn some calories.

As for QOTD: There is not a part of my body that isn't a problem at this point. But what I find most frustrating, at the moment, are my upper arms. They are very large and unusually shaped - which makes it tough when blood pressure gets checked. I had to buy my own cuff.

You cannot get accurate blood pressure when the patient is holding their breath and grimacing in pain!

I just want to have success this time. I cannot understand why I grapple with such inconsistency.

Anyway, on a positive note, this time last year I was very sick and headed for surgery within days. Very grateful for health.

Going to finish a good book soon, and I may get that BL DVD in. I think it would make me feel better *** I feel kind of stuffed right now.

Have a great weekend.

I love that show! Actually as I was watching the movie I had the music going through my head. I was thinking last night I need to see if I can find all on line because I really want to listen to it now.

Glad to hear that DD is mending so quickly! Nice to be young!

About the music.... as I think I mentioned, DD has the "Finding Nemo, the musical" music on her Ipod.... I think she bought it on I-tunes. I'll ask her later and let you know if it was somewhere else.

Carrabas was suggested. It is a nice place... very similar to OG. Not sure about their menu selections though.... only been there once. Sorry I don't have any other suggestions.

Sounds SO yummy! Could you replicate it at home (in a more reasonable size) and maybe make your own dressing? Maybe start with a store-bought honey mustard dressing (light, of course;) ) and dress it up?? Romaine okay, mozzarella: make it light and portion control, red cabbage okay, grilled chicken okay (as long as the marinade is light and it is grilled without added fat), bacon okay in moderation, chopped pecans okay in small amounts. It seems like if you could make your own dressing, you could definitely enjoy this salad!

[It's actually nice outside today and above 50º so I'm considering going outside and raking a bit of the yard. It really got away from me last year and the bad thing about the snow melting, is that I can actually see how bad it is again. LOL

SERIOUSLY??? You can see your yard??? :rotfl: I'm so envious!! Except for the path that DS snowblowed for the oil delivery man a few weeks ago, there isn't an INCH of my yard that isn't covered with at least a full foot of snow!! In fact, we have two Adirondak chairs in the front yard that were totally hidden most of the winter...... and DS just commented yesterday that you could finally actually see part of both chairs!

Made my husband's cookies and while I did not pig out on them, ate too much cookie dough And I am supposed to weigh in Monday!:scared1:

Cookie dough is my CRACK....so I can totally understand. Put it behind you. Journal it and forget it. And tell DH he has too make his own cookies from now on!!:rotfl:

I just want to have success this time. I cannot understand why I grapple with such inconsistency.

Anyway, on a positive note, this time last year I was very sick and headed for surgery within days. Very grateful for health.

I'm glad you are able to see the GOOD in your health these days. Good health is such a blessing... which is why we are all trying to make the best of our health, right??

I have had moments of inconsistency over the past few years. Sometimes it lasts longer than other times. Sometimes it take a BAD weigh-in to shake me up and get me back on plan.

If I feel that things are going south, I usually write up a very specific PLAN.... both a food plan and an exercise plan. I post it on the fridge or keep it with my journal and I (try hard) to follow it meticulously! Something about a WRITTEN plan really works for me.... like once it is in ink, it is SERIOUS!! Most of the time a one week plan is enough to get me back on track.... but other times I've written up a two or three week plan to get me back moving in the right direction.

If you REALLY want some accountability, start a journal here on the WISH boards. Post about your goals (food, exercise, weight loss) and make a committment to be HONEST in your journal about your choices. I did that last year.... not many people read/posted my thread, which was fine with me... but having it OUT THERE, on a public forum, kept me really on track!

One last suggestion..... if exercise is a problem, join the monthly exercise thread here on the WISH boards. Goldcupmom usually hosts. Post your exercise goal for the month (minutes, miles, whatever) and then post every few days with how you are doing.... again... a public forum can really be a way to keep motivated!

Hope you can find a way to get reenergized with this journey....

Well ladies... DD's Rainbow Girls event was quick and we were home by 4:15. We were going to eat early (5 pm-ish) but I had turned down the crockpot in case we got home late and the pork wasn't cooked enough.... so we all had a snack and will plan on eating about 6 pm or so. The asparagus is ready to hit the oven and the table is set, so I'll check on the pork in a few minutes and hopefully we'll eat soon!

Tonight I will probably watch useless tv with DS while I sit at my scrapping table. Plan my outfit for church and get it ironed too. I slept until about 6:45 this morning, which is reasonably late for me, so I'll probably be able to stay up until 10:30 or so!!:lmao:

I might be back later to chat....otherwise TTYtomorrow.............P

Well, today has just totally gotten away from me and I didn't get much done. I keep sneaking over to work on my 1000 piece puzzle, my mind just won't rest until it is done. I don't know why I torment myself with these things! The first 850 pieces were fun but now I'm stuck with 150 pieces in various shades of brown.......

DH and I got lost dropping DS off for the overnight campout.:scared1: They are camping in the woods just outside one of the US military bases here and there are roads through those woods but it gets so confusing quickly. It seems like every time we go over there we end up getting lost. I actually only went today so I could help DH in case he got lost. I told him tomorrow he is going on his own. It was about 30 minutes of panic, our cell phones won't work out there either.

After we found our way out of there we did a major grocery shop, came home and put everything away and DH went to the gym. I made a beautiful salad and put some new things in there thanks to yesterday's suggestions. I tried a new lettuce, I don't know the name but it was green and curly with purple at the top of the leaves - very tasty but twice the cost of iceberg.
I think it was worth it though and I will get it again.
In addition to my usual onions, peppers and carrots, I added grape tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, olives and feta cheese. I still have some bottled Italian dressing a friend got for me from the commissary (shhhhh! don't tell anyone!).
It was just very very yummy. Later in the afternoon, I "made" DH take a walk with me and we walked a different route that was nice. He's such a plodder though - ugh! I felt like I was walking in slow motion the whole time! We went to see The King's Speech at 5:00 and both enjoyed it.. Came home and DH made baked chicken and rice and we watched our college play their tournament basketball game....they won in OT. Last night they won just at the buzzer, it was the closest buzzer beater I have ever seen. Our hometown newspaper had a series of 26 photos on their website showing exactly how it happened. You had to see it in slow mo to believe the player got the shot off in time. In regular time we were not sure what happened! And,the final basket was the only time of the game our team was ahead. Very exciting time for college basketball as per usual for March:)

Shawn Do you and dh have a fun date night planned without ds? I don't remember hearing about paris. How was your trip?

We didn't really plan anything in advance but this is how it worked out. If there is any planning to do around here for ANYTHING, it usually falls to me. I have begged DH to plan a date night for us or plan a vacation for once, but he just won't do it. Our trip to Paris was wonderful! The weather was not good though, very cold, windy and rainy.....a lot like the weather the last time I went to Paris last March! I WILL see Paris in the sunshine some day:wizard: The guys were very cooperative with my commando style touring.....we were out of our room by 8:30 both days and stayed out for 12-14 hours. My legs and feet ached at night! We even managed 1/2 day at Versailles. So much to see and do in Paris!

Well, it does beg the question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

OK, I set myself up for that one.....:sad2:

I got up and ran 4M this morning, then went for my WW weigh in. I was down 1.8, which made me quite happy. This is a different number from my BL weigh in, but I consistently weigh differently on different days (and scales), so there you have it.

Linda -- One of the nicest people I "know" electronically is a lawyer who happens to be on this very thread (yes, that's you, Lisa! -- and Jude seems pretty nice, too!), glad you've found people who can understand the stresses of your work and encourage you!

I will second that - some awfully nice and encouraging folks on here:flower3:

Good luck with not sweating on your hair for 3 days Maria! I'm at that lovely age were I am almost always sweating at some point during the day, even if I'm not exercising at the moment. And, it always starts with the hair on the back of my neck and then and my hairline/face!

Well... unfortunately the part I would consider my "problem" area is hard to cover with clothes....

Funny....I didn't notice you looking old in the picture you posted recently:hippie: So far, I am enjoying my new slimmer face much more than my old one. I have a very true round face shape and have very full cheeks so I think that keeps me looking younger. But I could just have that problem where you look in the mirror and don't really see yourself as others do:rotfl:

Is the layered mexican casserole anything you'd like to share??.

Sure, it's a pretty heavy meal but you could probably lighten it up with some changes. In a 9 x 13 baking dish, spread a layer of refried beans. Top with layer of cooked, seasoned taco meat (ground beef/turkey), can of corn, can of black beans, layer of salsa, green chiles and layer of shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with sour cream. I just made it up and do it differently every time. I've googled and seen similar recipes online though.

I love the SOM reference!! My favorite movie ever!

I just have to comment that the movie was filmed a few hours south of us in Salzburg, Austria. We have been to many of the locations you see in the movie. It is lovely there! I swear I never really paid much attention to the scenery and buildings in the movie before and I'm not even sure I knew where it was filmed. Did you see the show where Oprah had the whole cast on?

Good attitude with the (temporary) gain:goodvibes

:woohoo: for no coughing! The enthusiasm and energy level of tween girls is amazing! :wizard: We have a 12 year old neighbor here who wears me out just talking to her. So different from my DS who is too cool to get enthused about anythingpirate: Good luck finding a restaurant to accomodate all, wish I had a suggestion for you. As for the swim coach, back home we always had good luck hiring a teacher looking for Summer work and then used the senior swimmers as unpaid volunteers.

Right now my biggest issue is the "fat roll" under my belly. It has been my biggest source of concern. It is shrinking nicely with the weight loss so I am very happy about that. I am really hoping I don't have any excess skin issues because of it when I get all the extra weight off. I am not really doing anything special other than just cheering when I realize it is smaller.Clothing wise my issue is really that I am large chested.

LOL at the bolded part:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I also have the belly roll and large matronly bosom. The bosom has shrunk down nicely and I look so much better in clothes there now. As I age, I am developing belly fat higher on my torso, just under the bosom, AKA the "meno-pot". Honestly, it was hard to narrow it down to just one problem area for me but I picked my worst. I really should be glad that I have all body parts still working and not complain:goodvibes

Yes, I can get all the US shows on my laptop through our Slingbox, I just have to DVR them so I can watch them when it's a normal hour here. I used to love WNTW, haven't watched it in ages. I NEVER saw anyone who looked like me on there but maybe now that I've lost some weight, I will. Thanks for the suggestion.

Here it is! As promised! I'll add more later when I have time to chit-chat more! Follow this link to our new BL meal planning thread!!

.................P

Thanks - the shredded pork sanwdwiches look great! We do a tenderloin in the crock pot but never thought to shred it:thumbsup2

Sounds like some of the salads from Cheescake Factory. Boy are they yummy but sooooo high in calories and fat!

Yeah—had a c-section..that area I just can’t fix it myself—wish I could afford surgery but I can’t so so the best I can. I have a lot of muscle built up under but there’s definite loose skin. I do core exercises and use the abdominal machines at the gym—it’s all I can do.
I'll catch up later--doing a little better, have more ideas anyway thanks to Im's ;-)

yup, I have that issue too but since it's always covered up on me, I don't even worry about that one. Glad you are doing a little better:hippie:

Do you have an area of your body that you consider to be a "problem area"?

Definitely my stomach/waist. It's huge!! No matter what I do, nothing seems to help.

My thoughts exactly! But even when I look back at pictures of me when I was young and thin, I just don't have a defined waist. Like the song says,
"I was born that way":rotfl: Hope you were able to get out and work in the yard today!

Almost midnight here so I will have to call it a day. Wonder where Dona is today. Probably busy working on the high school play. Enjoy your evening and I will see you here tomorrow.

I just want to have success this time. I cannot understand why I grapple with such inconsistency.

Anyway, on a positive note, this time last year I was very sick and headed for surgery within days. Very grateful for health.

I am also very inconsistent with my efforts and I have just learned to live with it. My weight loss is very slow since I don't always give it 100% but over time I've realized this is what I am comfortable with and this is how it's going to work for me. Before I was always "on program" or "off program" with no in-between. Now, I may have a few cookies and then stop instead of having ZERO cookies or having FIFTY cookies. This time, 2 things have really helped me:

1. I've made a vow to never quit! Will it take me 3 years to lose 50 pounds?
I hope not but if it does, I will still lose the 50 pounds in the end:idea: instead of losing and gaining 10 pounds 3 or 4 times;)

2. I try to focus on healthy habits more than the scale (easier said than done). They say it takes x amount of days to make a habit stick so I hope if I just repeat things over and over they will eventually become second nature.
So far, habits I've incorporated are I have a very healthy and light breakfast every day, I exercise 45 minutes every day and I drink 4 liters of water every day. The rest of the day is a crap shoot, depending on how I feel and what is going on in my life.

I've decided I don't have any rules in my healthy lifestyle; I just do what I think is healthy for me. Before, if I had rules to follow I just felt like I could not do it. Now, I try to just take it one day at a time, slow down and THINK and do the best I can do. Plan, plan, plan ahead as best you can but imagine alternate scenarios in your mind and how you might possibly react if your plan falls through. Give yourself lots of love, praise and encouragement...you deserve it :hug:

PS Cookie dough is my CRACK too !!!:scared1:
