TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Hmmm I'd have to say starting & progressing slowly, utilizing the BL challenge thread as social support, keeping things fun and learning from my setbacks.

And if you can do that all through tax season you will be well on your way! :thumbsup2

Glad you had a moment to come say hi! Yup... snow on the way! We BONUS DAY! I have also kind of given myself the day off. No doctor's appointments, cancelled robotics meeting (two kids unavailable), and DD is getting a ride to and from Rainbow Girls tonight, so other than this morning's YMCA run, I'm off duty (sort of.... laundry, dishes, meals still calling to me  ). Anyhow, I'll be sure to spend some time today praying for your DH's work situation.

FABULOUS article! Again, you have hit a homerun with today's QOTD! Thank you so much for taking so much time to provide us with such insight and questions to make us really THINK!

Awww, you're so kind! :flower3:

And woo hoo for a day off! :woohoo: You totally deserve it! Like a whole month off, all expensives paid, people waiting on you hand and foot kind of break really! ;)

Whew I got about 10 pages to catch up. Was a busy weekend for sure. Eating and tracking was tough but I'll try to get a estimate of the damage. I plan to try to stick to the lower end of my calories this week by planning out my day a little. And get in my exercise to counter it.

Just jump in where we are and don't forget the QOTD archive at the beginning of the thread to help you catch up with those! :goodvibes

Actually, I saw a Disneyland Resorts: Behind the Scenes on Netflix last night (probably a Travel channel show, but very new and I hadn't seen it yet) and saw the planned changes. Makes me sad, but at the same time happy that I at least had one opportunity to see it as it originally was. Those big letters were really cool!

I love those Disney specials on Netflix! What could be better than an instant Disney fix?

Good morning Team Donald!

So happy the weekend is over! Had fun, but too many times eating out due to continued holiday get togethers (that had been canceled due to snow). I did exercise, and definitely ate better than before -- but holy cow -- in-laws too us all to a hibachi place last night and the oil and butter were killing me.

Back to normal today -- exercised and had my oatmeal :)

1/10/11 Monday QOTD: Which strategy helps you reach your weight loss goals?

Although tracking is VERY helpful, I'm going to choose learning from my mistakes and readjusting my plan from there. I have often times been derailed with a setback and given up -- trying not to do that this time around.

Have a wonderful day!
Wendy

::yes:: Yep, pick yourself up and get right back on the wagon is the best way to keep moving forward!

I think what helps me the most, beside tracking, is realizing that everyday can't be perfect. The key for me is having most days where I follow my weight loss goals and only one or two when that doesn't happen. I always "fall off the wagon" when there are more not so good days then great ones.

Back in the wagon with you, too, lots of room in the wagon! :goodvibes

QOTD: I have to go with these two quotes. Tracking helps but I keep learning from my setbacks.

We're having a snow day today. The snow wasn't supposed to start until after lunch, but we woke to about 1 1/2 inches on the ground, so everything has shut down. The problem with snow days and me is all I want to do is bake: brownies, cookies, bread!! So hard to resist, so I am trying to keep busy.

Woo hoo for snow days! :yay: Can you bake and take the goodies to the neighbors or put them in the freezer?

Hi everyone!

It has taken me a little while to get caught up. Since I start at my computer for 8 hours a day M-F, I usually stay away all weekend, and this weekend was no exception. Now that I am back at work, I had a little time to catch up :) My weekend we pretty good.

I don't blame you for needing a computer break, Beth! :flower3:

The cake I made turned out SUPER cute... I'll post pictures, hopefully tonight!

With all of that, I completely lost track of tracking my meals and didn't have much time to exercise, other than running up and down the stairs at my sisters house (where the shower was held). I was happily surprised this morning, though, when I stepped on the scale. I was only up .5 lbs, which, for all of the craziness, isn't too bad!

Can't wait to see how your cake turned out! :cake:

I'd have to say Learn as much as possible. Knowledge is power. And with power you can do anything.....
......except kill zombies on Black Ops, then power is bad, very bad, they can see you! :rotfl2: Whew, sorry! Channeling DS14!!! LOL

:rotfl2:

 Hope everyone is having a great day, whether you are snowed in, about to be snowed in or wish you could be snowed in..

::yes:: That's me -- wishing I could be snowed in. :rotfl2:

I think starting and progressing slowly is important. I didn't gain it overnight, and I won't lose it that fast either. Just knowing that slow and steady can win the race is key!

Isn't that the truth?

Happy Birthday to Disneyluvr & skmommy!!!!!

My DH needs to be like that- On Saturday he bought a HUGE bag of Ghirardelli chocolate at DTD... I was so mad at him. Thats when he told me he would spring for stuff if I wanted to get in shape.

Update: I am going to DIE ... if I could move enough to roll over out of my chair, I would fall over & die on the floor. :lmao:
I did 2 miles yesterday and a mile today fast walk. I tried to jog but I am SAD.. very SAD at this so far. Huffing and puffing the whole way!
Of course I didn't gain this weight overnight so it will take time and I refuse to give up! I want one of those medals in a bad way & just to prove that I CAN do it.
One day at a time or as Dory would say Just keep swimming!

Nope, not going to die, Abby, not even close. I think Zoesmama03 was saying that week after doing the Shred for the first time and look how she is doing today! You'll be there faster than you know it! :cheer2:

Just finished 20 minutes with Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I had so much more endurance I made it through the first set of jumping jacks without out much effort and it was noticeably easier. OH OH OH and I did 3 whole knee push ups. :woohoo: I can say I feel fitter today than i was on the 1st for sure.

:woohoo: for seeing changes already -- isn't it amazing how quickly your body gets stronger! :cool1:

WOW this thread moves soo fast! WTG Team Donald!! I am off to a slow start but at least it's a start.

QOTD: I find that tracking my food really helps me. I'm big on eating something and then forgetting about it (brownie? What brownie, LOL)

Thanks for all the B-day wishes! Going out to dinner tonight, but planning ahead to make healthy choices!

Glad that you are having a great birthday! party:

Always a little behind - well I wish I had a little behind I wouldn't be here!!!:rotfl:Learning from my setbacks - I know exactly when I mess up and the next time I garner way more resistance to temptation.

Trust the plan - BINGO!!

Consistency - Double Bingo! I am trying but it is sooo hard.

[/B]

Isn't that the truth! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I fell off the wagon - small but enough to make me feel soo guilty. I haven't gained but no loss since Friday either.

We had a great weekend, even went out to dinner twice. I stuck to it no problem. We hit the gym both days - my knee can tell :rotfl2:

So when Eddie headed to hockey Sunday night I was just relaxing. I wanted something to snack on, so guess what I pick:rolleyes1 Yep the last of the Choc Chip Ice Cream - now not only does this break my diet but it also makes me feel a sugar rush. I feel crappy blowing a weekend of dieting and workouts by chowing ice cream. Although it brought my calorie count up to 1364, it blew my fat allowance out of the water:sad2:

I am back on track, trying to let it go. I just gotta keep looking at the fat pictures and staying on course.

On the other hand, my knee felt sore but ok through 3 workouts, no running still but a 3.0 pace at 7.0 incline for 23 minutes. It seems I can add time & incline but pace puts too much strain on it.

OH & my gym just added this really cool bike, you get to ride a course.:cool1: You can pick hills or Mts etc.. and you actually a doing a virtual ride. I only lasted 5 min but that was at the end of workout, I think I will do this 1st tomorrow.

Ugh. Just shovelled snow for 80 minutes, on the plus side, that is 5 activity points plus. I'm not entirely sure how I will use all my points to day. I started counting points today and I can't believe how few I've used, and I'm not really hungry!

If you like peanut butter, you should try the PB2 peanut butter. You can find it in the health food section of most grocery stores. It is powdered, you mix it with water. 2 tbsp is only 1 point plus on weight watchers. I'm trying to be healthier so instead of using jelly, I put whole bananas on my sandwich, the whole thing came out to 5 points plus. That stuff is really good, and it's nice to have a peanut butter that is not calorie laden.

Hmm had to Google it. I'm skeptical it will taste as good. I love my Smart Balance with Omega 3 though it helps give me a boost with that. Plus the 17g of fat don't bother me since only 2g are Sat. The other essential fatty acids with the other kinds of fat are something my body needs since mine are wacky after years of boxed processed foods. Not sure I could give it up completely even to save "points"(or calories) unless it taste good.

Woohoo on the 5 points for shoveling. What work that must be. We never shovel here. :)

I really enjoyed that article Lisa, thanks so much for posting it. I would say all of the above except "trust the plan" since I'm not exactly following a plan.
Sometimes I wonder if I would lose weight faster if I did follow a plan, track my calories, etc. I am just cutting my portions and trying to eat non-processed foods and it has worked so far, although slowly.

Well... happy Monday morning everyone! Like I mentioned above, I'm giving myself some "ME" time today! I'm going to sit at my scrapbook table and scrap away! I have really been craving some down time and with no scheduled appointments today and no real need to go anywhere, I've decided that today is for ME! I don't want to sound whiny, but I've been a little stressed about all that has fallen on my shoulders lately. I know you will all understand and not judge me for getting a bit whiny about it. But I think a day to do what I want is definitely in order.

If anyone deserves a day to spend on themself, it is you Pamela !!!
Hope you enjoy every minute of it and don't feel a bit guilty. It is time well spent and benefits your family as well.

Just keep swimming!

I say this all the time! And, I think a few others here do as well.

I'm big on eating something and then forgetting about it (brownie? What brownie, LOL)

I do this all the time:headache:

I have been very good the last few days but am not seeing the scale move at all, it is a little puzzling. I thought the extra Christmas weight would fall right off but so far it's not. I'm bummed and hoping it will not take me a month to lose those 3.5 pounds that took me 3 weeks to gain. I want to join the rest of you that are having fabulous losses:yay: Today and yesterday I even tried eating super light to see if that would produce results. I saw no drop on the scale this morning and we will see what tomorrow brings. I did 35 mins on the elliptical Sat and today and jogged 45 minutes Sunday. It's funny, all our snow here has melted except a few isolated spots and the weather has been really warm, as high as low 50's during the day since Saturday:dance3: Hope those of you with snow stay safe!

I was very skeptical too, but it tastes very good.

Shawn: it might be that you are eating too little. This is a common mistake I see on the WW board. People either eat their bare minimum points, or try to even eat under. IF you don't give it enough fuel, your body will hang onto every little pound it can. It seems counterintuitive, but many women find out that when they start eating a little bit more, they start to lose again.

Are you writing down everything you are eating? That can help too.

QOTD: tracking, and getting into routine help some-

-its harder to drink water if i've drank soda, but if i've already had 16 ounces of water--more water isn't such a big deal.

-being held accountable and having a goal is the other big thing.

Happy Monday everyone !

Today is an odd day - I feel totally ravenous. Maybe I'm just nervous or anxious - or it's just something with Mondays.

I went to lunch today at Ruby Tuesday's and tried to make good choices - Salmon, Broccoli, Steamed/Mashed Cauliflower. Certainly better than my norm - but there was butter and I'm sure something creamy in the Cauliflower. It tasted so good - but I feel so guilty. I've got to get past it. It was funny that the waitress was pushing the bread and the desserts - doesn't it seem that they always do that when you are on a diet???

One meal at a time...One meal at a time...

QOTD - My answer is definitely a support system. My husband's support is key. I couldn't do this without him. Also, my family, friends and colleagues know so that I won't be tempted to slip.

I've been away all weekend. Had to catch up on here.

We were off to the west side of the state, almost to Lake Michigan for my son's hockey game. He stayed over night with friends, but I travelled back home and then back to Grand Rapids for his Sunday game which they won and he scored 2 goals. Not too shabby for playing defense.

My youngest son just started playing so he's learning the ropes.

Long night on Saturday, cause I ended up in the hospital ER. Long story short, got home at 3 am. Had lots of pain, but thanks to my new friend morphin, it ended after 3 hours. Nothing serious but when you go to ER its serious enough.

As for my diet, I gotta eat more. I've been eating well, just not enough. Weird to say on a diet but its true.

I did my P90X workout and sweated my tail off. Its tough but, I'm having fun with it.

Checking back more often now, I hope. Ready for bed and its only 7:30.

Mine from the list would be starting and progressing slowly as well as putting it on paper. I am the type of person that can not hande major changes all at once so slowly changing my habits has been more successful for me. Last year I started the new year by vowing to cut my pop intake drastically and I now only have a can once in awhile. I am also the type to write out my feelings. I have been writing in a journal everyday since last April and it does really help. Plus it is super cheap therapy.

Today was a good day. I ate well and drank lots of water. I have been using my refillable cup from Sea World which holds a ton of water and makes it easier to have handy. I also got out my copy of "Carmen Electra's Areobic Striptease" DVD today. My friends and I bought it a few years ago as a joke and I actually enjoy the workout. It is a great dancers workout.

Chili and Soup! Switch your cooking to those things, particularly if you can keep them in the freezer to pull out later on when you don't have time to cook.

Chili freezes well?? I was unsure about the red kidney beans that are called for in the recipe I use - do they get Mushy?

Oh Man...my DD6 is sick. She had a fever this weekend and now has pink eye in both eyes.:scared1: She has a good humor about it though...as much as you can. She fell asleep today and when she woke up she couldn't open either eye.

DH is traveling right now for work and I'm holding the fort down here. Right now I am SOOOOO missing the gym. I wasn't able to go yesterday or today. Tomorrow is out as well since DD6 will be home from school again and DH is still out of town. I guess I'm going to have to work out at home some how???...maybe with the Wii.....I am so missing my bodypump class and the machine that I like at the gym. It's a good thing that I was able to work out so much last week :thumbsup2

I've been tracking my food so far this week and drinking a lot of water too. I think the only area I'll fall down on this week is with my exercise. I'll be back on track as soon as DD6 is well.....Now I just have to hope that DD9 stays healthy. I will at least get my 20 minutes but I like it better when I can get an hour in each day.

I really what DD to get better.....got to go help her get ready for bed.:flower3:

Have a good night everyone :)

I does fine in our house. But we don't add them until near the end of the cooking usually. Then the leftovers get put in individual bags and frozen. DH loves it for lunch at work.

I went to our WW meeting tonight (with the snow I'm somewhat surprised we still had it) and I'm down a lb! I figured this week would be a gain because I was not very healthy. I love pleasant surprises. :yay:

Congrats Jessi!!!

Rough day here. But I had a small victory. I am so tired (DD didn't sleep well so neither did I). I had a stressful day and I'm gearing up for all this snow we are supposed to get. Anyway, I really really wanted to take the kids to McDonalds and Wendys for dinner. I did not want to cook! But we started this challenge to not eat out for a whole month. Here we are day 10 and it was so hard not to go, but I had this little WISH angel sitting on my shoulder whispering that if I did take the kids and eat that garbage I would be soooo mad at myself and regret the decision immensely! And I knew that I would have to write it in my "bite and write" journal (which is coming along nicely BTW, I'll post a pic this week) and I would have to confess my sins here. I didn't want to let down my team!!!! I literally hemmed and hawed until I got to my driveway but in the end I turned in instead of going straight. The kids weren't thrilled with me, they ate breakfast for dinner but we came home.

I did kind of pig out on pickles but I'd rather eat 2 spears then 2 orders of wings at wendy's.

I'm turing in early tonight, hopefully I can make up for some lost sleep and I will feel more alive in the morning. And I can hopefully have enough energy to workout. I didn't do that today.

NEED TICKER HELP! I know that Lovetoscrap posted this already, but I couldn't find where an answer was posted. I went to update my ticker, and it keeps saying "create ticker" which then takes me back to the very first step of choosing a background. What am I doing wrong?!

Eeyores Butterfly - sorry I haven't got any clue about the ticker. Hopefully someone will help and I'll be able to use your answer too.

QOTD - I know that all of the items are absolutly necessary but the one that really does the trick for me is to track everything. That's what I'm so frustrated with myself lately. I'm NOT tracking. Does anyone know of an app for an iTouch? I have SparkPeople, but if you don't have wireless access (and I don't at work) I can't enter anything. I really need something that I can use all the time, not just when I'm near wifi. Maybe I should just use the folded up piece of paper and carry that around.

I didn't do fantastic over the weekend. I did do better and we did go out for a walk yesterday even thougth it was pretty dang cold. I went back to snacking my way through the evening. :guilty:
