Hi,
I can't remember who wrote the original message, but someone posted a while ago about a bad experience they had had with a doctor in their past. They had come to the doctor with joint pain and were upset to have been asked about thier sexual activity. Anyhow, we had resident teaching today (40 doctors in training at a Boston Hospital) and the topic was, yes, gonococcal arthritis (the most common cause of infected joints in young women). I spoke up and made the point (because of that post) that we should be very sensitive about asking about sexual history, as it isn't obvious to a lay person that their sore knee could have anything to do with gonorhea. Anyhow, thanks to the original poster, you made a difference
