I am registered for the Praxis I test at the end of this month. I was reading through my study guide today, when I noticed it said something about taking the CBT test as part of the Praxis I. I'm now really upset, because I'm only registered for the PPST test. Am I worrying over nothing, or do I need to rush to register for the CBT also?

Is it Computer Based Training???

I also think that CBT usually stands for computer based training or computer based testing. Is all or part of the test on the computer?

You might be close, Shep, I think it might be Computer Based Testing? Anybody know for sure?

Possibly Computer Based Teaching??

There are 2 forms of Praxis I. You can sign up to take the one on paper or the CBT which is the one on the computer.

:D

You are registered to take the paper based test.

But the question is: do I have to take both? The way it's worded, it sounds like I have to take both the paper and computer based. I'm in NJ, if that makes a difference?

Is that for all states, geptetto? The wording in the testing guide sounds like I have to take both the paper and computer based, but then why would I be taking the same test twice?

Debi, what does the wording say exactly? I seriously doubt they would make you take the SAME test both on paper and CBT. :)

General Knowledge (reading, writing, and mathematics) - Passing scores on the Praxis I (Pre-Professional Skills (PPST) test or Computer Based Test (CBT) are required by colleges and universities as an entrance requirements to the approved education program.
:)

Pick one. If it helps, no one I know liked the CBT.

Michelle, under the NJ certification section the wording says:
All certifications
Praxis I:
  • PPST-Mathematics
  • PPST-Reading
  • PPST-Writing
  • CBT-Mathematics
  • CBT-Reading
  • CBT-Writing
  • Listening Skills

It's odd, the NH list is very similar (it lists the test number next to the PPST/CBT list), but at the bottom it says "Take either the PPST or the CBT, not both." Why does it say this for NH, and not NJ?

Gepetto, where did you get that quote from?
