Teachers do you notice this...

Where did I go wrong...
I am not talking about kids coming up and talking to me, or parents, or asking advise...
I am talkign about a parent who generally blows me off when possible and then when it's about time for her child to come in my grade to start talking all of a sudden and every time she sees me it is not a hi, how are you, it's let's chat indepth.
I like when kids come and talk to me.
I like to meet their parents.
I don't mind if they ask me a question when they see me, though generally most don't.
I like to talk to the kids at the pool.
I was asking about a parent who does what is discribed in bold above.
It's amazing how things get turned around.

This clarifies your post for me. Sorry that I misunderstood! Thanks!!!

A correction here.

Nowhere, no how, at no time, have I ever said that I hate all teachers.

It is completely unacceptable and not truthful for posters to go putting negative words in somebody elses mouth. There have been several times on the DIS here where I have actually taken the teachers side of an issue.

This just does not happen to be one of those times.

If somebody thinks I should go out of my way to stroke their ego, or else she accuses me of 'blowing her off', then that is the persons problem. Not mine.

If somebody openly 'bashes' parents who have never even spoken a rude word to them. That is the persons problem. Not mine.

If a parent who is concerned about their child, and who therefore wants to speak with and get to know their child's teachers better, is openly accused of 'wanting something'.... then that is the other persons problem, not mine.

I don't think you hate teachers.
I do want to calrify that I do not think my ego needs to be stroked or that the person is blowing me off. I do not think you understand the question I was trying to ask.

I understood, tnkbl.

You're talking about parents who can't even smile at you one day, wanting to be buddy buddy with you when finding out you will be responsible for their Susie in the fall.

I had a parent that was awful to me when I was a cheer sponsor. Horrible, horrible man. Anyway, the next year when it wazs cheer tryout time he was SO NICE and was asking all the other teachers if he thought that it would hurt his daughter that he had been ugly to me all year.

HELLO---he just admitted to being ugly to me. Why would he do it if he knew what he was doing?

I had that very same thing happen to me except it was a mom and when it was time for tryouts she sent me a certified letter telling me she would do whatever it took for her daughter to be a cheerleader. Luckly I was not going to coach the high school just junior high.

I guess sometimes people get upset and do not think down the road.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't normally see parents throughout the year. We only get a handfull at conferences so unless there is a suspension hearing, I don't meet 90% of my parents the end of the year. Anyways, the problem I have is when I call home repeatedly because Johnny hasn't turned in any assignements. Usually I call and call and no one returns my phone calls. If I do reach someone, they usually are in a huge rush to get me off the phone. However, the last two weeks of school I suddenly have about 10 new best friends. The same parents who didn't have a spare minute to call me back or to listen when I told them their child was in serious danger of failing are up at the school begging me to pass their child. Some have even tried to bribe us with gifts. It's sad really.
