Teacher X-mas gifts

I am a teacher too! I agree with everyone else, a nice note would do. I keep all of mine and read them at the beginning of each year. I can assure you the teacher would want you to take any money you might spend and use if to make your family Christmas nicer. I hope your husband finds a job soon! :grouphug:

Another teacher here. Wow a $20 gift card is a very nice gift! Please don't feel like you need to do that for the teachers. I know no one in my building would expect that!

One of the nicest things a parent has done for me is offer to come up and cover my recess duty. They stay outside with the kids and I get an extra 15 minutes for lunch. This is an especially nice gift when it is cold outside! While it doesn't cost anything the extra time that day is a truly special and very thoughtful!

I have been a teacher for 27 years. I cherish the heartfelt notes put in cards that tell me that I have made a difference in a child's life. That is the reason I became a teacher. If a teacher has truly helped your child and been special a note to the teacher's principal or supervisor would be a great gift that won't cost a cent.

A very dear friend who is a teacher just mentioned this last night! While it may not be permitted in all schools (check with the principal first) its a very thoughtful idea. My friend not only has more time for lunch, but more time for planning. :thumbsup2

I usually give a $20 GC to each of my children's teachers. My husband has been out of work for almost a year. This year my son has 4 teachers. Do you think it is cheap of me to give them each $10 GC to Target? I really want to do more but it just isn't in the budget this year.

like a PP, I usually do $5 gift cards for Dunkin Donuts. I don't think that $10 is too cheap.

I usally get a movie theater ticket from Costco (2 for $16 ) and tape it to a $1 theater size box of candy from Walgreens. Then we attach a note that says Happy Holidays! Enjoy your break !

I have also bought the large bag of chocolate covered pretzels from Costco:lovestruc and devided it up into some cute clear plastic containers from Michaels. :thumbsup2

Another nice gift is to get a bamboo cutting board from the dollar store and give it with a loaf of quick bread on it.:santa:

I was thinking of giving a gift card to Tim Horton's (Canada's version of Dunkin Donuts) to my daughter's teacher and her SSW. They both have gone above and beyond the call of duty. My daughter has PDD-NOS, SPD, ADHD and social anxiety so lets just say she is a hand full. Takes 4 teachers to restrain her from harming herself and other...well it used to. She is now a fully functioning student at school and these people have worked so hard to help her get on the right track.

***BIG hugs and admiration goes out to all you wonderful teachers!!!!
