Teacher traveling to Disney

Just wondering, does anyone have any suggestions for classroom treats from Disney? When buying for 25 the cost can really add up.

I am not a school teacher, but on our last trip to WDW DD and DS wanted to take a treat back to school for their classes. Plus, I teach a Sunday school class. So, I bought a couple of trays of these chocolate coin type things that had a picture of a character on the outside of the coin. I think I spent $15 maybe? The lady at the checkout counter made the comment about me liking chocolate, I told her what we were purchasing them for and then she gave me a long thing of the Mickey stickers one for each of the kids we were buying for. There are souvineers of all types(pens, pencils, magnets, suckers, key chains) you name and they have it. Very nice of you to think of your students!! Have a magical trip!

I would go to DTD. There is a store there where everything is under $10. You may be able to find stuff there.

One of our preschoolers just returned from Disney and bought everyone Mickey mouse erasers.

Along the lines of the chocolate coins you could buy the Mickey head lollipops that come in bundles of 5 and divide them up that way. I think they're around $4 a bundle.

What about buying a bundle of postcards?

I'm not sure what grade you teach, but as a first grade teacher I am planning on buying the box of Disney Potato Head Parts in DTD, to have as a fun activity in the room. This is something the whole class shares, and it lasts longer!

I just bought my third grade class the Mickey head suckers at DL, and they were using them as magic wands. That's pixie dust for you!

For my 6th to 8th graders, I usually buy packages (they come 6 or 8 in a pkg) of WDW pencils from World of Disney, or get some WDW candies/snacks from the candy shop on Main St. in the MK.

These are great ideas! We're going in the fall and I would like to take something back for my children's classmates. We'll be coming back right before Halloween, so I think I'll look for something non-candy, since they'll be getting plenty the next day! I'd also love to find something educational to add to the classroom. Maybe a book from world showcase?

we always find that both mickey head pretzles and tortilla chips are great to bring for a class treat (we take bubble wrap for the bags to prevent crushing on the trip home). i don't care for lolly pops because 9 times out of 10 the teacher insists the kids wait until they get home and then you either end up with crushed lolly pops in the car or carpet or a much younger disappointed sibling.

i like the idea of a "class gift"-we got some posters (nice heavy quality) of the solar system at the shop near "star tours" and gave them to the class.

How about the mickey head straws. I can't remember how much they were . But I think they were under $1.00ea. Just another ideas. Have a good time picking something out.

One year I got different treats from each country in the World Showcase and we did a 5 senses activity. I got things like gummy bears from Germany, shrimp flavored chips(?) from Japan and Italian chocolate. The kids loved trying new foods and it was educational!

I loved the idea about a classroom gift, i.e. Mr. Potatoe Head, Posters, Books, etc. I hadn't thought about that.

I also like the ideas about individual gifts, i.e. Mickey Straws, pencils, etc.

Hopefully my students as well as my daughter's classmates will benefit from all the ideas!!!

Be careful with food/candy ideas-- you never know what next years class food allergies may be. Pencil, stickers, etc are always a good choice.

The last 2 trips, I go into the gift shop in MK by the entrance. It is on the left if you face the castle. Sorry can't remember the name. There are a few retired teachers in their and they will give you enough Mickey stickers for your entire class. They are really nice about it. The one lady offered the first year we were there when I was paying. I had on the Minnie teacher pin and she asked if I was a teacher. Then she offered me stickers. Now, I go back and get them every year. They never even flinch. They are wonderful. I leave one on every students' desk for the first day of school. I use it as an ice breaker activity and we all love Mickey for the first day of school! Just an idea if you are strapped for cash!

I think something "permanent" would be better than getting a treat like chocolate or suckers.

There are SO many things to choose from.

At a lot of the gift shops they had these really cute hair clips to pull your hair back - they came in pink or blue and they were a $1 each, and they looked so cute and sparkly - shaped like a Mickey head. Of course that's for GIRLS. I don't think you'll have any problems coming up with something!!!

One of the least expensive (free) gifts that I take back to my Team at work is right there in your hotel room, if you are staying on property.

The Disney foam/paper coasters that are in your room make a great little gift....and if you get a nice housekeeper, they will add a few extra to your collection if you ask. (just don't get greedy and ask for 20 or 30)

Also, I usually make up a gift bag that goes to one Team Member who best exemplifies the Team concept that we promote in my Department. Everyone on the Team votes and the winner gets the gift bag when I return. It is usually made up of very random items I get from my trip...the last one I gave out had:

1) 5 Mickey Coasters from the room
2) 2 Bars of Mickey Soap and 2 Bottles of Mickey Shampoo
3) WDW napkins from the restaurants
4) 20 Mickey Stickers
5) An Autograph Book replete with signatures
6) A small album with pics of Disney Cast Members waving and smiling-the cover of the book says "Wish You Were Here"
7) Disney food items, such as Tea, Coffee, candy and even this year the Disney shaped pasta
8) A Disney writing pen (the $2 or $3 kind)
9) A Disney coffee mug
10) A Disney Trading pin

While the above may seem a bit blase' to some, you wouldn't believe the fun we have when the person gets the bag. And how much competition it spurs to win the next gift bag.

I too think something more permanent than the candy would be nice. My DD5 is very excited to be getting the Mr. Potato Head parst. I had not thought of getting a set for her 1st grade class too. Great idea. I was thinking of having her get a set of post cards and then write one to each of her classmates to give out the first day of school?

My question: How much do the postcards seem to run? (underlining so the question doesn't get lost in the post, lol)

I'd also love to know of any other "cheap" things you experts know. I teach 9th graders and because we switch classes I can't get everyone something, but thought I might pick up a handfull of things as rewards throughtout the year for when we play classroom jeopardy, etc More ideas?

My DS2's gym teacher went to DL last spring, and brought back a big roll of stickers that had Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Minnie and Pluto on them. She always puts an ink-stamp on the kids at the end of class, wherever they want. It started out on the back of the hand, but now those silly kids want them on their shins, their bellies, even the face sometimes, so cute! Anyway, that day she did the stamps AND the stickers, and they were so thrilled!
