Teacher/Parent help

As a parent and teacher who HAS a sense of humor, I also say write the letter. That teacher should not be saying those things in school!

Hey, I like a dirty joke here and there as much as the next person....but that is NOT something for a teacher to say to his class (and about another teacher/coach no less). Write the letter and make sure it gets to everyone it needs to go to.

I remember in high school, plenty of teachers liked to joke around but nowhere near to this extent.

I am not a teacher but a mother of 4 and I can tell you I would not hesitate to write a letter. This man is not only unprofessional, he crossed the line ( I would have thought he crossed the line even if he had said it to a room of adults... the poor coach could experience problems down the road from this) but the fact that he did not have the good sense to avoid saying something like this to a bunch of high schoolers concerns me. What kind of thought process did he have going on? He showed even more gall by bringing it up in class... "lighten up". This also shows that he obviously feels like he is above reprimand. I would be so embarrassed if I had to be told the what I did was offensive, I would have apologized to everyone. (I have always taught my children that being wrong is ok, as long as you own up to it. This teacher had the opportunity to not only redeem himself but to set a good example. He missed it and failed miserably.

Thank you so much for the supportive responses. I guess I really knew what I had to do even when it isn't the easy thing. I gave a copy to the principal tonight, we are a very very small school. I just pray that my kids don't pay the price for my complaint. The principal assured me that this won't be the case and that he will pass it on to the school board and the superintendent. I trust him and know that he will make it go where it needs to go. I will keep you posted as to what happens. I also had a meeting tonight with the coach because my son wants to quit basketball (which is his love) because of so many reasons. The biggest being the rumor mill and his grades being flashed around the team. The coach point blank lied to me about something I know is for sure the truth. My oldest son is a very very black and white person and doesn't lie, let alone make something up. He heard the coach talk about the grades, in front of the health class. WOW!!!! I just let him know how relieved I was that he wasn't part of it. It is hard enough to grow up when peers are mean let alone when adults are too. I hope he understood that I would except his denial this time but not in the future.

Thanks again for the support. I am glad I am not the only one who was mortified by this entire thing.

Could we all live at Disney were life is happy all the time :)

This is mindboggling to me. Who the heck does this guy think he is? Sharing your son's GRADES with other students??

When I was in HS, our Earth Science teacher wanted some help with a friend of mine. We were in the same class, I had 100, he had a 42. He kept telling the teacher it was because he was "stupid and Steph is smart" (my friend told me his grade and what he said to our teacher). Well, that teacher looked up our IQ scores from some test we took in like 6th grade. His was like 15 points higher than mine. He called me in for a private conference to ask if he could reveal that score to my friend. He said if I didn't want him to, he wouldn't, grades are private. He just wanted to show him he COULD do it. (said friend scored himself a nice 96 on the final!!!) :yay:

To me, that is how a teacher should act. I don't know where the school found this nut you are dealing with, but if I was aware that my child's grades were being shared with other students, I would be in that principal's office reading him the riot act.

Good luck with this guy and I hope your DS does not have to deal with him anymore.
