TEA Thread Wk of January 29, 2005

Dang, dang, dang, this is not easy at all!!!! :sad2: Yesterday I had 9 new foods, since I just started counting. Today, 3, all at dinner. Same old breakfast, same old lunch...ect. I'm really going to work on it tomorrow. :rolleyes2 I'm such a sucker for convenience. On a positive note, water intake is good. :teeth:

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Sara

So far a good day. About 30 oz water with more to go, and sensible food choices and portions. I am actually very proud to say that I did not finish my dinner tonight! I actually stopped when I was full!

My main goal for next week is going to be getting enough sleep. I am a night person and never seem to want to go to bed on time. That's going to be a tough one for me, so I'm actually going to start tonight to push the bed time up a little earlier.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of the advice on the running shoes - I will have to find an atheletic store for that. All that we have is Bob's and the chain stores like Footlocker - so I will have look a bit.

I've been doing good with my water intake and have been doing good with my points, if I used any flex it was minimal.

Have a very good workout tonight, including three miles on the threadmill. :thumbsup2

Have a great night everyone!

Jodi

Nancy- that's great! Keep up the good work.

Jodi-WTG staying OP :cheer2:

Last night- I actually went to bed hungry. I am normally not an evening eater. Usually after dinner, I am fine for the rest of the night & dont desire to eat anything. Well , this stupid steroid is making me hungry & by 8:00 I am hungry! Last night , I ignored it & went to bed!!!!! For me to ignore my stomach for a couple hours like that is a big deal for me. But one thing I keep picturing in my head is what I have to wear for my Tri in May. I am going to be much smaller & fitter by then!!!!

Good morning everyone

Sara-- 9 new foods in one day is amazing! :cheer2:

Jodi and Nancy-- great job on the water and keeping the food intake down. :cheer2:

TiffJ-- Going to bed hungry is a huge accomplishment. I've never been on steriods but I know people who were and it sure sounds tough on the appetite. Hang in there, you're going to be buff for your tri :cheer2:

I was quite a bit off on my AT yesterday. I missed lunch and went to a group social serving cake and ice cream. You guessed it, I had cake and ice cream for lunch. I had another not so great choice that put my junk points way over 25% of my daily points. But I stayed within my daily points so I'm not going to stress over it. Today I will plan better!

Sunny

Wow! Everyone is doing great. I have to admit, I eat the same stuff pretty frequently, mostly because I cook in volume and my family rarely eats the healthy food I prepare. So I usually cook on Sunday and eat the stuff all week.

I did well yesterday, ending the day with 2.5 points left and 3 APs earned but unused. And that is even with eating a weight watchers ice cream sandwich in a bowl with whipped cream and fat free chocolate syrup for dessert! YUM!!! DD17 is causing me so much stress these days that any time I don't go over by about 5 million points from stress eating is going to be a huge accomplishment for a while!

Boy do I know the feeling. DD16 is a rollercoaster of stress. Maybe the next thread we need is a "Coping with Teenage Daughters" thread :rotfl2: Hang in there!

I eat the same things all the time, too. I'm not much of a cook and grocery shopping tends to overwhelm me, so I just buy the same easy things and eat them week in and week out. I vary a bit with the seasons, especially on the fruits and vegetables. If I was rich, I'd hire a chef before a house cleaner!

Just wait until she is applying to colleges and driving! Let's see how cute you look then, Sunny! Not so pulled together! :rotfl2: Dont' worry. I'll be here for you to cry on my shoulder when your time, errr, her time, comes! :grouphug:

I LOVE to shop and to cook! Can I come and live with you? I'll do your shopping and cooking (you'll love my WW friendly meals, including diet coke chicken) if you'll be my personal trainer! :teeth:

Its a deal!
Oh I'm really not supposed to be here right now!!!!!!!!

Just for the record, Sunny, I am glad to see your little green light has gone off! :teeth:

So glad I am not on Sara's new food plan. I had one nasty sick kid today (what I had last week :() and the other will probably come down with it overnight and have it tomorrow :(. I am out of fruit (I opened a can of pineapple though :)) and on my last legs of variety. Boo hoo! So not much variety here :(.

And no exercise---kind of being lazy with them--kind of nice :). (except for the yucky parts).

Good morning.

Lisa-- sorry to hear you have sick ones :sad2: Hope you don't get it, too.

Yesterday ended with 35% of my points coming from chocolate :rolleyes2 I'm blaming TOM :p I ended up using quite a few flex points and all my APs but I didn't go over. I still have 4 days left to this WW week, though!

Keep training everyone ;) Slow forks, more water, chew, chew, chew!!!!!

Sunny

I didn't think I needed to join this thread since I eat fairly well, but then I found myself drinking beer and eating carrot sticks for dinner while on the computer last night. :rotfl2: I am serious!

So, I think I will read through a bit and learn from you all and set some goals for next week.

Until then, I will drink at least 64oz of water a day, but preferrably more.

Maggie

I am happy to say, that although last week I did not stick to my goals at all, I jumped back in yesterday and had my first day totally OP in who knows how long.

Having my treadmill in front of my mirror was a HUGE wakeup call when I ran on Tuesday night. It was just the kick I needed (well and seeing pictures of me from my DS's birthday party on Saturday--not a pretty sight!).

Christy

I left work last night after 8, totally stressed, but went home and had a turkey burger cut up into egg beaters w/fat free cheese. And then, when I felt like "grazing", I had some reduced fat wheat thins and 2 very thin slices of cheddar. Around 10 I had a weight watchers ice cream sandwich.

I was eating much later than I wanted to, but that was completely outside my control. I finished the day with 1.5 leftover daily points and my 3APs unused. Food choices were pretty good throughout the day.

You guys are really helping me stay on track. I find that my competitive nature causes me to rise to this kind of challenge when I know I am going to have to 'fess up to anything I do wrong. :teeth: Thanks! :grouphug:

Cam, I discovered my schedule is too difficult to make a rule about late night eating, too. I aim at eating earlier, but I'm not going to stress over anymore.

Great job ending the day with points left over.

Great job Christy!

Welcome, Maggie-- lot's of people are making the AT drinking more water. Its a great goal!

Thanks.

Thankfully--I had it first, so I won't be getting it back.

Same bland pickings today--but the kids are better.

I feel like I have lost my running mojo. So I need to get my butt in gear and get to the gym and hit the grocery store..

So far--menu yesterday and today--darn near exactly the same. Blah!

OK, Lisa, its time for you to go out and get some exotic food!

How's everyone doing? I did pretty good last night. My % junky food was a little over 25% but much better than the day before! Still not over for my weekly points. Phew!

I am doing pretty well, but I will have to be very careful this weekend. I finished yesterday using all my daily points and 2.5 of my 3 earned APs. I still have all of my flexpoints, which is good. Tonight we are going out to our favorite restaurant. My plan is for a shrimp cocktail for the appetizer, a house salad and broiled crab cakes. YUM! I haven't decided yet whether I will have a glass of wine or dessert, but since I have to get up early tomorrow, I am leaning away from the alcohol and toward the dessert.

Tomorrow should be pretty controllable since I'll be at work all day, but Sunday is a danger zone. We are doing the special olympics polar bear plunge and I am always voracious afterwards. I think my body wants all the fat it can get in the hopes of using fat layers to get warm again! :cold: No matter how mild the temps are, there are no two ways about it -- the Atlantic Ocean is very cold in the northeast in February and walking on the sand is like walking on gritty ice!

Also, being a Steelers household means SuperBowl food temptation, either at home or our friends' house. UGH! I better lay in a big supply of baby carrots.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I NEED to be heald accountable! I am struggling like you would NOT believe. My friend the voracious appetite has come for a vist...WISH he would go away....along with him he has brought his friends cravings with him....to be more exact chips and salsa....well salsa I can deal with....chips however is giving me a heck of a time. In a perfect world, I might be able to deal with this....however, my fairly new diagnosis of diabetes and chips do not get along....no matter how many steps I put in or how much exercise I do....so, that being said, I am headed out for a quick 2 miles and will be back to report.....but I am still going to have to deal with that darned chip thing! Argh!!!

Good luck with the ice water Cam! I know they say it is good for the diet...but I really think they meant to drink it...not to play in it!! :0
