Hello all!

I have an ADR for Tea at the Grand Floridian for an upcoming trip to Disney. I have never eaten here before. Has anyone done this? What was it like? What was the best part? Our reservations are at 3:40pm, should we make this an early dinner or will we still be hungry for dinner later?

Thanks,

We did a late tea and it was plenty for our lunch/dinner combo meal. We just had breakfast that morning and then the tea mid afternoon. We didn't finish all of the food at the tea that we ordered. You can order different packages that have varying amounts of food included.

I thought it was nice enough; not as good as the teas in London but it was a fun experience in a pretty setting.

My DD and I did it last year and loved it. She was only 10 at the time and enjoyed being treated like an adult. We had just come from one of the parks and did feel a little underdressed tho. Altho some were dressed as we were, others were in sundresses and cute sandals. I only saw one man with his wife and small child (infant). They actually ended up more or less eating seperately due to the child not being happy. I think it's a great idea for a couple to enjoy. Altho some men may not like it. I know my hubby wouldn't so I will be content for it to be a mother/daughter tradition.

I love tea! Try the Mad Hatter blend. :) Anyway, they have lil cakes, sandwiches, etc. Nothing to filling. Although, I suggest you let yourselves be hungry to tide yourself over before dinner. You'll appreciate it more. Have fun!!

We are doing it as a mother/ daughter thing with my friend, her mom, my mom and I. So it seems like it was a good choice.

It's also an early Birthday thing for me so I will make sure I will get my cake and eat it too.

I'll make sure to ask for the Mad Hatter Blend.

Thanks Everyone!

Has anyone done this?
. . . yes
. . . 2-3 times per year

What was it like?
. . . they try to imitate an English Tea
. . . come pretty close

What was the best part?
. . . the serenity vs rushed time at the parks

. . . like Chinese, an hour later, you will be hungry

NOTE: They just raised the prices. We now consider it a poor dollar value.
Other Tea's in Flroida are more fancy, for less cost.

Our Ratings of Afternoon Tea at GF: (rev 6/14/11)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: C
. . . food selection: B
. . . seating quantity: D
. . . seating comfort: A
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: A
. . . staff helpfulness: B

NOTE1: The "Tea" is in a gracious atmosphere overlooking the
pool and gardens of the Grand Floridian. A relaxing way to put
a civilized break into a hectic park day. The negative for the
true tea aficionado, is they serve only Pekoe (BOP or OP) for
non-green tea. Reservations are almost a must.

NOTE2: Prices were increased in July 2011 and the Sally Lunn
was discontinued. This makes the eatery overpriced compared
to other Afternoon Teas in the area. Even the Ritz is cheaper.
