Tea at GF-What 2 Get?

I am so excited - I just called and booked this for our Mtrip. DS is going to the Alice tea party (he can't wait - calls her his "girlfriend"... ) and DH and I will be doing our own tea from 2-2:30 when DS will come out from 1900 PF and join us. DH doesn't know this yet and he is not going to be thrilled but it's Mother's Day week and I'm going to Yachtsman for him (okay, so that's not really a sacrifice...!) so he can do this for me, right? I don't have a daughter, so he can substitute :teeth: .

Anyway...I know exactly nothing about this other than the location, the menu offerings from allears and that people love it. I would love love love if someone who has been there could describe the whole event for me. How do you order, how does the tea come, how are the food items, etc...??

I really really appreciate any descriptions!

TIA!

We did this a few months ago. My advice - on't eat before you go! My DD and I split a cheeseburger basket at our hotel before getting on the monorail to the GF for tea. We thought it would be very light and we didn't want to look like we were starving. :rotfl2: We were STUFFED after the tea. I got the Grand tea and my DD got the Buckingham palace. With the piano player playing and all the hot tea, I just wanted to lie down and sleep! Unfortunately, it was the day of our Xmas party at MK and we had to get going for that.

Just go and have fun. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. Our server asked if we have ever been to the tea before and we said no, so she was our guide to having a formal tea. She'll tell you what everything is for and she even put our napkins on our lap for us while she was going over the details.

Your tea pot comes with a cozy over it to help it stay warm. Your courses come out separately. First tea sandwiches, then scones and jam tart, then the dessert you want.

Don't worry about it. Just go and have fun! I can't wait 'til April.

English trifle is usually cake layered with cream and fruit, from what I remember. It was so yummy. The strawberries and cream looked really good too but my friend and I decided to try the trifle and we were glad we did..
