We recently got TD Visa Infinite Aeroplan Visas. The card includes a free bag when flying on an aeroplan pts as well as a once a year entry to a Maple Leaf lounge.

We have flights book next month that we used aeroplan pts to book but it was before we got the new Visa. Does anyone know if I can show my card at checkin and get the free bag as well as gain entrance to the lounge?

I asked TD but they had no idea.

Thanks!
Jess

I think you should be able to use it - I used my freebie earlier this year but that was after I got my card - but the only way to know for sure is to try.

Thanks for the reply. It does not say you have to PAY with the Visa so I am thinking I might be okay too. Hoping I can also get the priority boarding! Fingers are crossed. I will come back and let you know after my trip :)

Check in online 24 hours before your flight and see if it charges for your bag. The system should know if you have the card and booked on points and should give you a free bag during home checkin. However, if the advance check in system tries to charge you, don't do the luggage from home as you can't get a refund at the airport. Instead, just go into the US priority line at the airport and show your card when you check in. The system will probably assign you Group 2 for boarding. Before AC moved to boarding groups, our boarding pass just had a special p printed on it.

We have the credit card with privileges too. I never check in online at home now and wait until we get to the airport and check in at the priority desk for the free bag and boarding group 2 passes!

We once had flights that were booked on aeroplan points and thought we could all go to the lounge too. My husband is the primary card holder (even though i have a secondary/spouse card) and he was the only one they would let into the lounge. But maybe that was just CIBC's policy, and TD will allow all passengers on the same itinerary to use the lounge.

I think it was automatic that they gave us a free bag because the flights were purchased with the aeroplan visa, and it is in their system. But perhaps if you show the credit card they will extend the benefits to you. Same with the lounge.

Just note that unless you have an Infinite Privilege Visa card (TD or CIBC), you have to be flying on an Aeroplan Reward ticket for the benefits to kick in.

The difference between Aerogold Visa Infinite and Aerogold Visa Infinite Privilege card is that the former only gives the primary card holder one visit/pass to the lounge per calendar year and the Inifinite Privilege offers 4 passes for the primary card holder per year, both when flying on an Aeroplan reward flight.

Yes, but benefits also apply to any Air Canada operated flight, not just reward flights with the Privilege Card.

Thanks all! DH and I both signed up for cards so we are each primary on our own cards. I will report back after I get home from my trip to let you know how we make out with bags & the lounge. I really hope the lounge works because on the way back we have a pretty long stop over in Montreal.

I'm primary on my CIBC AEROGOLD INFINITE and also on Platinum Amex with ML lounge and have taken in travelling partners for a nominal fee.
