TD Canada Trust

At ATM's, yes without a problem, but check what your bank charges as a surcharge (BMO has their own inflated exchange + other ATM fee/foreign ATM fee). It might be worth buying currency before you go. I wouldn't just go and grab a $20 from the ATM for what they charge you, it's not worth it.

In some stores you may find into problems using a debit card because a lot of banking instituations in the states have visa's and mastercard's tied to personal bank accounts, therefore only credit cards are recognized.

Hope this helps.

We had a lot of trouble in 2004(DL and DCA)using our President's Choice bank card down there. Very few places took it. Now we bank with First Calgary so it may be a problem but we are using our cc the whole time while down there.

I used my debit (green card) at Walmart in the states to pay for my purchases and then was able to get cash back! very very convenient. I used in Florida and in Niagara Falls, NY recently.

Teresa :)

The TD card will work at most places ( I have used mine in Maine )in the states ( They own TD Banknorth in the states ) but not everyware . I was told that not all canadian banks alow their bankcards to be used in the states

You might be able to use it at checkouts too. I got a email message on my online banking from RBC and they said that most canadian banks now can do this however it might not ask you for your pin in most cases with then in lovely smaller print saying that normal fee's for intl exchange will apply. Id rather have cash myself easier to keep track of then trying to do the exchange in my head everytime I put something on debit.

thanks so much! im planning on just exchanging lots of cash before I go and using my Visa down there when needed

I was just wondering just in case i need a back up if i could use my bank card (i'm getting paid while i'm on vacation)

I can use my TD Visa down there without any problems tho right?

Your Visa should be good to go anywhere in U.S.! Good luck keeping it from coming out of your wallet in Disney. ;)

TD is the only one of the majour banks in Canada that can be used almost everywhere in the US now for debit transactions. We used ours at Winn Dixie last week and a few other places while in the world.

Judging from all the action on my last bank statement, I'd say that's a "Yes". :rotfl: Just look for the Interac/Cirrus symbol. You may be charged a hefty service charge, but it's certainly doable.

This is NOT a commercial....lol.... But I work for TD Canada Trust, and you need to look for ATMs that display Interac (in Canada) and PLUS (in the US). The fee in the US is $3.00 for a withdrawl plus exchange rate.

For details on how to use ATMs and Debit in the US, go to:

Hope that helps!

And just to put in a further plug - I work for BMO and ditto what KLondon said ;) :teeth:

We generally take a couple hundred down and if we blow it I know I can grab another hundred from a machine down there. Every ATM on Disney property has worked for me! I have also used my debit card in stores and it seems to work fine - I think the most recent was Publix on the way to WDW from MCO.
