Here we go again, just in from Weather Bug, sigh....we are in Seminole which is part of this warning.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION SIXTEEN FORECAST TO BECOME A TROPICAL STORM OFFSHORE THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA COAST BY TONIGHT
Issue Time: 12:16PM EDT, Tuesday Sep 6, 2005
Valid Until: 6:30PM EDT, Tuesday Sep 6, 2005

Mike is getting a flashlight....we have water and food just in case......it shouldn't be too bad, but we have already had a record season for rain and htye are predicting a foot or more of rain.

I am in south florida and we were drivinh up tomorrow (wed) do you think it will be ok to drive or will we be right in the middle??? I have been checking weathe rbut the local news here hasnt been too informative. I cant find any info cause all they are showing is about Katrina still?? Thanks!!!!

The spaghetti models of the storm look crazy. Obviously, they are clueless what she's going to do. Right now they said she's stalled out there. Most of the models show it heading north and making land fall at the Florida/Georgia border. Although, Viper shows it heading straight for Central Fl.

I just read that they are warning people from Jupiter on up the coast. Who knows!

I'm not sure how the driving will be, we are 26 mi NW of WDW, I will update as the day goes on....

Oh well...we're driving in on Thursday, hopefully it won't ruin our Disney Honeymoon. Checking in to Disney on Saturday for 6 days....but I was also planning on doing Universal Studios/IOA on Friday. Let's hope she stays away from O-town!!!

We live in the Tampa Bay area and are supposed to head over to Disney this weekend. Hmmm.....the models are very uncertain right now (almost no convergence)....not sure what to do....

Hope it all works out and everyone stays safe.

We are headed to Disney next week RAIN RAIN GO AWAY COME BACK ANOTHER DAY !!! :sunny:

TROPICAL DEPRESSION SIXTEEN STILL FORECAST TO BECOME A TROPICAL STORM
Issue Time: 11:55PM EDT, Tuesday Sep 6, 2005
Valid Until: 6:00AM EDT, Wednesday Sep 7, 2005

It's been raining some here, but will get worse tomorrow and Thu I think...

Just saw the news this morning. It's to hit as a Cat 1 hurricane. Those driving from the north on Sunday/Monday please be very careful!

TD 16 is now Ophelia. Still not sure what to do about the weekend....everything I'm reading essentially says that they are very uncertain of the path (what's new Heh!).

Last year, was WDW good about giving refunds during the hurricanes? I know the usual cancellation period for a room only reservation is 5 days out, but this storm was barely a blip on the radar then, so I think it's unrealistic to be able to cancel 5 days out because of storms. I really don't want to cancel, but if Ophelia ends up cutting across the state, I think it would be in our best interest to stay home. I just hope WDW gives us a refund. :(

Last year, we got a full refund for Frances.

LovethatTink - Thanks so much for responding so quickly. :) Do you remember how far in advance you had to cancel, 1 day, 2 days, etc.? Were they nice about it at the CRO, or was it a hassle? Thanks again!!

I think I called on Thursday. My in-laws were suppose to be coming in from Ohio and we had 2 rooms. They were very nice about it. In fact, when I called there was a recorded message about Frances and cancellations.

Last year, we cancelled the day before frances came...when they cancelled our flight from boston. No problems what so ever.. We ended up rescheduling for the end of the month.
Then we went back the end of the month and checked out a day early due to hurricane Jeanne....we had asked them earlier in the day what they were going to do. Then we just went up and said we wanted to check out and were leaving early due to the storm....no problem.
Now we are leaving today...but we are staying off property (my parents townhouse about 15 minutes from WDW)...and another hurricane. I am destin to not have my anniversary or sons bday at WDW!!
Sons bday tomorrow anniversary 9/11. So far flights still on.....

Don't ever cancel. Modify! Change the reservations for later this month. If you than decide you can't go at that time, you can cancel without penalty as long as you are 5 days out. Lets hope this thing starts moving, hopefully NE direction away from land.

if the hurricane is set to hit and impact centarl florida disney will make an announcement (usually not until evacuations are ordered) so unfortunatly you cannot cancel with no penalties...until a hurricane is definetly going to impact central florida... That is why those like me(who live on a coastal island) who have to evacuate have to scramble to find a place in orlando and why few choose disney... because either you make a reservation with disney and loose your deposit if hurricane changes or you wait and then scramble to find a place because everything is booked up...
Here on the coast we are in school even though we are under a tropical storm warning, experiencing periods of heavy rains and gusts.. but it looks like the big impact may be not until sunday or monday.. and then only if it loops back around and comes at us like jeane did... but we won't know for a few more days...

Thanks everyone! The latest projected path shows it looping like Jeanne did, in which case it won't be a real problem from central FL and the west coast (where we are) until next week.

DisneyWisher - I could modify my reservation say, tomorrow (with check-in on Friday) to a weekend later this month or in October, and not be penalized?
