TCKK Family August 2008 Trip Report Part 2

We listened to these guys

Here are some pretty flowers (I sure would love to see some of these about now. I’m already tired of winter.

We shopped some more

and more

and hubby did this
IMG_1505.jpg

And just before we left for the day, we saw these guys

IMG_1526.jpg

Then we saw this and of course, youngest DD had to stop. Can’t pass by a phone without stopping you know. DD’s think they are terribly deprived because they don’t have a cell phone.

That's it for August 13

Pops looks like he's having a great time shopping! :rotfl:

Did that cuddly soft Tigger come home with you?

Thanks for all the great World Showcase pictures. I would love to live close enough to hop in the car and go over there for a stroll every so often. When I see pictures, I can just picture myself walking along in that very spot. I need some kind of George Jetson instant transport machine to whisk me away and then send me back on that same day.
And it needs to be cheaper than a flight ticket, too! :)

Hey DISbuddy!

Love the pics. Makes me wish I were there right now scarfing down some of the food at the Tangerine Cafe (one of my new favs)

Hope you and your family have a great holiday!:santa:

Sorry, I haven't been here for awhile. I guess it's been long enough that they moved my report to the Completed Trip Thread. Well, I would still like to complete the last few days of our trip. So here goes!

August 14th.
On this morning we split up. DH took oldest DD out for breakfast and I took youngest DD out. So we could have some one on one time with the girls. This was so fun spending time alone with one of the girls. We have never done that here and I must say I totally enjoyed it and I think the girls did too. Oldest DD and DH went to Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian. DD has some pictures, but they haven’t been downloaded. They ate Tonga Toast and I’m not sure what else. I think they had a really good time together.

Youngest DD and I went to the Magic Kingdom and had breakfast at the Main Street Bakery. I don’t seem to have pictures of that either and I can’t remember exactly what we had, but I know it was sweet, probably chocolate and very very good!!! After eating, DD and I headed back out on Main Street and saw this.

Here’s DD with Chip and Dale
IMG_1530.jpg

Here’s another picture of the Castle. You can never have to many pictures of the Castle
IMG_1531.jpg

Then we went to see this. Just like a little kid I had been waiting all week to go here. It had been several years since we toured this. I’m not sure DD really cared that much, but she indulged me and let me have my fun.

Evidently Donald plays ping pong as well as I do!
IMG_1554.jpg

I love this picture of DD’s reflection in Mickey’s mirror

IMG_1562.jpg

It started pouring while we were in here so we ran to the train and rode up to the front gate and then met up with DH and DD and went back to the hotel. Later that day we went to Animal Kingdom and saw the Nemo show. Loved this so much. FOTLK is still my favorite, but this would run a close second for shows.
On the way out, we saw Pocohantas. Here are both girls with her.

DH is happy just watching people. He doesn't mind how long we shop as long as he has some ice to crunch and people to watch!

If you find a transport machine, be sure to let me know so I can get one too. I'd love to be able to pop in and out of Disney.

Yep, I wanta be there too. Instead we're sitting here in snow and ice. Yuck!

Great pics Cathy. I love the ToonTown shots.

Thanks. I love all the bright colors and fun stuff there. ToonTown is just such a happy place.

That's a great idea! That's one thing I like so much about going to WDW with just the girls. It gives me time to just focus on Jill. Of course, Brooklynn is there, but you know what I mean - no boys around asking us to find something they've lost or getting grumpy because they're tired. One on one time with Trent almost always means watching a sports event of some kind, and that's fun, too. Drew is the one I don't spend much individual time with, because I'm so totally clueless about his interests - cars, bikes, and tools. With him, what little time we share is most likely going to be in the kitchen, talking about photography, or occasionally watching a movie together. When you really think about the conversational time you spend with your grown kids, sometimes it is shockingly little, even when you are passing each other in the house all week long. I'm glad you had that special time with each of your girls!

The trolley and dancers are my last memory as we walked out of the Magic Kingdom on our Thanksgiving trip. We listened to them finish their show, and then we had to make ourselves walk toward the front gate.

It was so fun spending that time with youngest DD. It was just a special time together, I'll never forget. Next up will be time with oldest DD. Isn't always so hard to have to walk out the gate for the last time, not knowing for sure when you'll be back? But I just tell myself, Lord willing, I know I'll be back again someday :)

Great shots from ToonTown! I love Minnie's sunroom!

Thanks. I love that room too and all of both Mickey and Minnie's houses! I know primarily it was made for little kids, but I just love it. I guess maybe I'm still just a little kid at heart ;) at least when it comes to Disney World!!

I'll be back either tonight or in the morning to do my last day and a half report. Sorry I've been so slow on this.

Last day in parks.

The first thing we did was head to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. As many times as I been here I’ve never seen a rope drop. We were a few minutes late, but got to see most of it. I’m so glad we got to see this. Here are a couple pictures.

Here comes the train with the opening family and the characters

IMG_1589.jpg

IMG_1590.jpg

Then we split up again. DH and youngest DD went to the Polynesian and oldest DD and I went inside Magic Kingdom. I love the greeters who have the Mickey hands on.
IMG_1594.jpg

We split a cheese Danish and each had a egg croissant at the Main St. Bakery. Yummy
IMG_1596.jpg

I love taking pictures of Main St. and the little side streets. Here’s a photo of DD
IMG_1601.jpg

IMG_1600.jpg

I know this isn’t the greatest picture because of the glare in the glass, but is this castle gorgeous or what?
IMG_1603-1.jpg

Next we headed to Tomorrowland
IMG_1606.jpg

We rode the Astro Orbiter. I’ve never ridden this ride before so we decided to do it together this day. I loved it. I think she did too. Of course, we had to have a picture.
IMG_1607.jpg

Some pictures I took of the park during the ride.
IMG_1611.jpg

IMG_1614.jpg

IMG_1617.jpg

Next we headed over to Ariel’s Grotto. Ariel is DD’s favorite character. In fact, she’s asking for an Ariel trash can for her bedroom for Easter instead of candy. (She’s 17! lol)
IMG_1620.jpg

Ariel was due to be there for autographs, and she was determined to get her autograph this picture. She never wanted to wait before. So this time we waited for at least an hour or so in the hot sun, no shade to speak of. We were just down to a couple people in front of us and I started getting sick. I had gotten overheated. I didn’t really think it was all that hot, but never the less I felt like I was going to pass out. So I gave DD my camera and told her to have someone take her picture and I went over and sat down in a covered pavilion. I put my head down on the table and rested until she was done. She then went and got us some ice water and after drinking that I was fine again. I hated so much to miss seeing her with Ariel, but I’m glad she went ahead and did it. The castmember there was very gracious and took a couple good pics for her. DD had taken her drawing book with her and showed Ariel the drawings she had done. She was so pleased and autographed the pictures for her. Here they are together.
IMG_1624.jpg

You see who’s on her shirt don’t you. (I told you Ariel was her favorite)
IMG_1625.jpg

After this we met up with DH and youngest DD and spent some time in the park. Then we headed back to Pop Century for some rest time and swimming.

Later that evening we headed back to Magic Kingdom to ride some favorites for the last time on this trip. We had seen this lady several times on Main St. and this time we got a picture of her and the girls. I just loved her!
IMG_1676.jpg

We had dinner at Casey’s. We had heard Memom talk about them so much, we just had to try it.
IMG_1679.jpg

This picture makes me want to go back.
IMG_1680.jpg

Beautiful purple flowers
IMG_1685.jpg

Then we rode this
IMG_1686.jpg

I think these guys “got the point” J
IMG_1704.jpg

And these guys kept blowing their own horn
IMG_1704.jpg

IMG_1711.jpg

Then we headed over to this
IMG_1712.jpg

IMG_1713.jpg

Saw a couple pirates (oh wait, that’s my DD’s)
IMG_1714.jpg

Then we went and rode this, well the 2 DD’s and me. DH does not do anything with big drops.
IMG_1725.jpg

Then I had my first ever Mickey ears (I can’t believe I waited until the last night!)
IMG_1726.jpg

IMG_1727.jpg

Then we saw this show
IMG_1730.jpg

I think the girls were about to die, but they took it with good grace and let DH and I enjoy it. We got a family picture on the front porch.
IMG_1731.jpg

Next we headed over here
IMG_1748.jpg

We saw this show
IMG_1753.jpg

This lady is a little scary
IMG_1755.jpg

Of course we had to ride this again
IMG_1757.jpg

You can tell it’s getting late in the trip and late at night because I started getting his more and more. I think DD was getting tired of having her picture taken.
IMG_1759.jpg

We watched the fireworks (I can’t do fireworks pictures) and then did the Haunted Mansion again.
IMG_1792.jpg

Then we rode “It’s a Small World”, my pictures are all blurry. I must have been getting tired too. But I love this picture of the castle
IMG_1802.jpg

Then back to the buses to Pop Century for our last sleep.
IMG_1807.jpg

The next morning we got up and headed back towards home.
IMG_1824.jpg

I hope this sign comes true!
IMG_1826.jpg

We had such an awesome trip. Disney World is such a great place for a family to be together! We experienced some new things this time that we've never done before and there were some things we didn't get to at all on this trip even though we had 10 days in the parks. I guess that means we'll just have to go back real soon so we can do those too. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sticking with me through this report. I really have enjoyed sharing it with you. I hope you had some fun with it too. :goodvibes

That's cool that your daughter now has personally autographed Ariel sketches. That was a good idea!

The Mickey ice cream bar looks good. It's not even 4 a.m. yet, but I'm always up for ice cream. It's one of my basic food groups. :)

I love seeing the Pop Century sign. If nothing major happens, I will be there in about two and a half weeks!

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I like them all - from the beautiful castle to a regular old bus stop sign!

I'm glad you got to go on this nice long trip with your family. You now all have special memories to treasure for the rest of your lives.

I hate to see it end, but it looks like you had some wonderful times. Thank you for sharing!

The last day is always so sad. Very cool about the autograph pics. Lucky DD!

She was so excited and pleased to get to do that. I'll have to take a photo of her autographed picture and show it here soon. She said Ariel was so pleased and loved her drawing.

I'm so happy for you. I hope you have a terrific time. Make sure to tell POP and Mickey I said "hi"! :wave2:

Thank you so much for sharing with us on this trip report. You've made it fun to do. I love reading yours and even though mine is over I'll still be around checking you out!

I hate to see it end, but it looks like you had some wonderful times. Thank you for sharing!

I hate to see it end too, but we had a wonderful trip with lots of memories, plus it was fun writing it all down here and sharing with anyone that wanted to read along. Thank you for being her for our report. It's so much more fun to do when people come along with you.

The last day is always so sad. Very cool about the autograph pics. Lucky DD!

She was very excited and pleased to get to do that. It's so fun to watch the little girl come back out now and again for special things like that. So many times we're in too much of a rush to have them grow up. But Disney is a place and time where we can all just celebrate being a child again.

It was so much fun getting to meet you guys down there. I hope we'll get to do it again sometime. Are you still planning to go back this year? We're still considering it. Maybe we'll get to meet again. Who knows? Take care and thanks so much for sharing in this report with us.

Cathy
