We have booked a table at Tcoup Tchoup for July while we are staying at the HRH and have included our DD (aged 8) in the booking.

We are now wondering if this would be a good idea or would it be better to book her into the Camp Lil Rock for the evening and enjoy it on our own. She enjoys Asian type foods but we are not sure if it is too 'adult' a restaurant for her. She is easily bored - aren't they all at that age?!

Advice needed please :)

Also anyone got any indication on price/pre-booking for Camp lil Rock?

I love eating there,, but for an 8 year old, it could be a bit boring, and slow. You both may enjoy it more if you seperated for the night to be honest. I am even thinking my older teens would be a bit bored with the low key atmosphere. The shrimp starter is to die for, btw. ;)

edit: I was just reminded by my husband about a family that did bring some young ones there, and they were seated right next to the fountain. It was just too hard for the son (probably about 6) to resist splashing his hands in it, getting a lady at the table behind him a bit soggy :lol :lol,, we had a good laugh about it tho.

I took my 10yo son there and he LOVED it, still looking forward to another trip. We went for lunch, though, and just about had the place to ourselves, me, Michael, and WebmasterBarry. The servers paid a lot of attention to us and the experience was very enjoyable.

And the food... WOW!!! :earseek:

We were recently there and noticed several younger children dining. I looked at the children's menu and it contained many items that my two picky eaters would enjoy. I'm planning on taking my 8 & 10 yr olds there in the fall. I think it depends on what your child is use to. Mine are fine with going out to long dinners because they do it often. If your daughter is not , put her in the camp. A night alone is nice also for both of you, but I wouldn't send her because you feel the atmosphere isn't for kids.Kids would be fine.

I took my 8 year old to Tchoup Chop last June. She LOVED it! We went at lunch, though. That was a perfect time. There was so much to see that she will not get bored. And at 8, I think she may be able to resist the splashing. We are going back in August!!

If you child is well behaved..then take her. If she is able to sit..through a 1 1/2 2 hour dinner without making a scene..then take her.

We have been to Tcoup Chop many times..there are usually children in the restaurant, behaving. Only one time was a group of adults and children..seated right beside us...these kids were going in and out of tables, around the fountains..playing in the water...honestly..the parents should have been shot for letting the kids do this. The parents were just ignoring the kids. Needless to say..it wasn't a nice relaxing dinner for the rest of the adults near that obnoxious party that evening.

Only you know how your daughter will behave...but, if you usually don't take her to upscale restaurants with you, don't take her now. Most kids don't sit still for a meal like that.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I have given Rebecca my DD the choice of either Tchoup Chop or the kids club and she had, predictably chosen the kids club.

I am not disappointed as now I get to have a great night out with my lovely DH on our own for the first time in..... who remembers when?!?!?

Just need to contact Mr Visa. for a loan and we are all set ;)

Ah, Mr. Visa, a great friend of mine. He usually goes on all of my out of town trips. He writes me monthly and I write him back. If I don't write him back, he gets cranky.
We are planning on taking our kids (they will be 9 and 6 when we go) to try it. I'll just tell them that if they don't behave I'll leave them in Imoteps tomb.:)
