TCD - honest opinions please!!! Never used them...

Used them last year. Excellent value for money, flights on time and a nice villa at the Southern Dunes complex. Upgraded to a Jeep with dollar for only an extra £100 for the 2 weeks.

I had a 24 hour delay coming back from St Lucia with BWIA

That wasn't fun wasn't it? Remember that awful hotel they put us into :scared1: At least if it had happened in Florida it would have been ok. It didn't help that BWIA only has 2 planes.

I'd still go for a scheduled flight over a charter normally, yes delays can happen on both (Carol you must be jinxed) but are less likely on a scheduled airline like Virgin. We often fly into Manchester on a Saturday morning and the Virgin plane always seems to be going out on time, DH thinks I'm a right plane spotter.

I have booked with them for September. only 1500 quid for five of us with car hire, prebooked seats and checkin at the lbv factory stores on the last day. Not bothered by lack of back seat tvs. We will be taking 3 laptops and nintendo ds's.

One thing to bear in mind about the seat back TVs (or lack of them).....

- you would only really miss them on the way there...coming back is technically a night flight, and also as you have to gain your 5 hours, so mostly you are trying to sleep to avoid the jetlag.

:)

I would never touch TCD with a barege pole agian. It is not the issue of delays, whch is bad enough, but as many poeple say, these can happen to any airline, although TCD does seem to get more. My main gripe is the way we were treated, or the total lack of treatment during the delay, we were lied to (in sequence; rep is on the way, rep has been delayed, rep will be there in the morning), total lack of any consideration, rude staff, and a total could not care less attitude.

They are cheaper, and if this is the only way you can do it then it may be worth the risk, but today there are other companies that can beat the price sometimes so it is worth shopping around.

You weren't on the flight that was supposed to leave Manchester 29th July 2005 by any chance.
We were and i agree with your comments 110% - NEVER AGAIN, they may be cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. Virgin or BA all the way next time.

Nope, we were travelling in September.

I also have other issues with them that are still unresolved such as tickets not turmng up in time, the office in LBV refusing to help and having to to buy them again, I am STILL waiting for the promised refund, BUT, I do not know how common that is, the flight issue seems to keep cropping up.

Not much point going after compo, they don't give it!! Been trying for months now to get even the most basic amount for the 20+ hours delay. They won't pay a penny. We lost a days holiday, car hire and hotel booked direct and the use of a days park tickets. Like getting blood from a stone!

i got £100 pound compo as well as the money I paid for last years upgrade (we were downgraded on the flight out)

How? I have tried everything, they just give a stock reply that the flight was an Air Altlanta flight so they are not liable!

wrote about twenty letters, got the airside manager onto the plane as I was very not happy (we didnt know about the lackof room) got to sanford complained there too, but in the end got the £100

and I have booked another two trips with them, everything else was very good, even the food (they catered to my wheat allergy very well). it was just being downgraded last year that was the problem, the year we are going economy, next year sunshine first again.

keep trying for it
