TCD Check in experiences

Evening all

Getting closer (14th Feb) - just trying to sort out some of the details.

We're wondering about the check-in details at Sanford when we fly out with TCD.

1. We're supposed to be getting a transfer to Comfort Suites on Maingate East (presumably a bus). Do they just send one bus out per flight... if so can we miss it?

2. We have a car hire booked for the second week of our stay - the invoice says to pick up from "depot", which TCD customer services say is at Sanford. However we will be in Kissimmee - does anyone else have experience of car hire for half your stay. If so, where did you pick up from, and how did you arrange it?

3. We're staying in a villa over in Newport Richey for the second week, we understand we are given the info about the villa at check-in. Once again anyone have experience of this, how does it work? Presumably we can't pick up the keys until our middle Saturday? If so, any ideas on where you do pick them up from?

For those of you who are Florida veterans I suspect you are well accustomed to such apparent trivia.... but for us first-timers we would like to be prepared for check-in at Sanford, with 4 under-11s in tow after 9 hours on a plane!!

As some of that isn't trivia, Andy. (Like the issue of car collection) I would ring the company and confirm the detail with them beforehand.

sorry can't help with your car questions

but returning with 4 kids my advice is book in the Guest house at Sanford airport.

Its a separate lounge which you have to pay for but provides drinks & snacks, films , playstations childrens playroom comfy seating, computers with internet access.

we used it in August with 4 kids & would definately use again,
there are previous posts on the subject on the boards.

It is cheaper if you book with TCD before you go but you can pay when you get there.

I used TCD last May and thought they were very good, sadly, I do not have an answer to your queries, however, I would agree with Disneyowl and thoroughly recomment that you use the Guesthouse at Sanford for your return journey. The computers and play-stations there certainly kept my two kids very happy for the time we had to wait at the airport.

I would suggest like keswick1uk says that you contact TCD direct re. picking up your car for the second week, it does seem daft that you should have to return to Sanford to do this.

TCD does have an office at the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores outlet place which is where we went to book our Guesthouse tickets, it may well be that you can pick up your car from there.

Thought you might be interested in the outcome.
Spurred on by other folks concerns on the board, I rang TCD three times, and Dollar once. In the end TCD have now reissued service vouchers for us to pick up the car much nearer to our hotel base. Far better and happy family all round. thanks everyone for your support and suggestions.
