Hi all
just come across these threads on another board.
simon v can you get a person from TCD to do a thread telling us these incidents are one offs?
would be helpfull if TCD assured people who booked with them
got back last week with tcd and as i say we wont use them ever again, this was our second time with them the first was 2 years ago also from glasgow when we went sunshine first and although we had delays and an old plane flight wasnt to bad but this time it was just terrible, it started 2 weeks after we paid holiday in full when we got a letter saying flight time had changed from 11.45am to 3.30 pm ,when we got to airport we found that there was a tcd flight leaving at 12.30(although this was also delayed) when we checked in our flight was still going on time this was the case untill about 2.30 when the boards showed a delay of an hour , this was okay we no these things happen then we seen our plane arriving in to glasgow at about 2.45 it seems it came from manchester they then started to board plane shortly after and we thought we were going on time, but we were wrong we were left sitting on plane for about 90 mins while they refuelled with no info on what was going on the pilot then announced that 22 passengers who had checked in had not boarded plane and we would have to wait till they took there luggage off(there wasnt 22 empty seats on the plane so we dont no what that was all about just another excuse). when we did take off one of the toilets was closed down straight away and the other just over half way, we had extra leg room seats and the panels just in front of us was held together with tape, the free drinks advertised amounted to one each, there was a lot of familys and couples who had prebooked seats but were sitting no where near each other so that was the flight going its not to bad compared to flight on way home, we did the check in at lbv which cost £5 each and was supposed to open at 7.30am we were told to be there about 7 as it gets busy early and we were, when did the check in open at 8.15 and guess what they coudnt do the glasgow flight as it wasnt showing on there computers, when we did get checked in they had no record of us having extra leg room seats and i had to show reicept and supervisor had to be called to sort problem out, so that all done we went off to enjoy last day, then of to sanford where right up to last minute flight was going on time then guess what a delay again of 2 hours it seems an earlier tcd flight was delayed and they were given our time slot, so after 2 hours it was on the plane and guess what we sat there for nearly another 2 hours with no explanation and no air conditioning it was so bad the kids at back of plane were sitting in there underwear, there was still no air con for about the first 2 hours of flight when the cabin crew were asked about this they were very rude and this continued for the rest of the flight, before we took off i was approached by member of crew and asked if i had paid for extra leg room seats we were sitting in i said we had and she asked to see my invoice i was getting rather angry at this point and told her i showed it in morning and had no intention of doing so again, and did i mention that we had to clean the seats with baby wipes before we could sit in them as plane was filthy had to wash my trousers twice to get the marks from them, i just hope it wasnt someone elses sick, when we landed at glasgow 4 hours late the pilot took the plane to far to meet up with the bridge to get us off so guess what another 45 mins passed before we could get off, the day after we got home i phoned tcd took me an hour and a half to get through where i spoke to a steve to ask if i could change next years holiday(also booked with them)to a tcd plane and not an air atlanta one and he was very rude and unhelpfull told me to call back the next day, i then phoned first choice and got us 1st class seats and 2 weeks in the double tree at the entrance to universal(we stayed here 2 years ago) going at 9.30 in the morning (great times) for less than our holiday with them cost, i know we can still get delays with first choice but there planes should be clean there staff nicer and ther air con should work as well,o did i say the tvs didnt work on flight back either, sorry to be negative for anyone who has booked with them for the future but personally i woudnt touch them again with a very long barge pole i know some of you guys think its only 9 hours and a means to get there but my holiday starts the minute i hit the airport and i dont want to sit on a filthy rickity plane held together by tape ,with no tvs, no air con, rude staff, and food i woudnt serve to my dog(if i had one) roll on next year a cannie wait tl hear i come.
Firstly, i dont want to scare anyone who is booked with TDC but this is what happened to us so make your own mind up.
We arrived at Glasgow airport for our 14.50 flight at 11.45 to be handed a poorly photocopied letter saying that due to technical problems we had a 24 hour delay to our flight. There was no one from TDC there only service air personnel who did not know anything. We we offered to be put up in a hotel with food and free soft drinks or a taxi home which we would have to pay for then reclaim. We elected for a hotel. We then had to queue to check the bags in and then take them with us to the Hilton hotel 3 hours later. We got to the hotel and had to queue again for 1.5 hours to check in. The hotel itself was very good other than it was very expensive ie £5.10 for a vodka and coke £11 if you wanted a burger and chips !!! The hotel wouldn't give us free soft drinks as TDC had told them not to despite us having letters saying the opposite. We went into Glasgow to find a march taking place. Police everywhere and wierdos chanting and shouting so we had to go back to the hotel. I spent £60 on a few drinks before raiding the mini bar and phoning friends in America to tell them we would be late. The next day the hotel handed us a bill for £26 for the phone call which i refused to pay telling them to hand it to TCD. I am still waiting for the mini bar bill!!!.
At 10.30 we were taken back to Glasgow airport to find our plane was still to come up from Gatwick. We checked in again and hung about waiting for the plane. I spoke to a supervisor at 2pm who assured me that the plane was on its way and we would be leaving at 14.50 as planned. It was stocked and clean and "a really fantastic plane" and not to worry. We also found out that our plane from the previous day had gone down to Gatwick to cover the flight to Sanford from there. What a cheek !!! They left us without a plane to cover London!!! Eventually at 14.30 we saw the plane land and we got to board. I was in premium upper deck so got on first. The first thing i saw was wires sticking out the panels in the front!! very reassuring. It was absolutly filthy and hadn't been cleaned at all. our welcome refreshment was water or diluting orange juice that they didn't even put water in so you couldn't drink it. We sat for a further 2 hours until we took off. In total 26 hours late all because TDC didn't have a plane. When we got going the first thing they did was try to sell us crisps and snacks. We refused to pay and asked when the meal was coming as we were all hungry by then. We were told 20 mins. It was 2 hours later before we were fed. After the snacks they came round with drinks. As i was right at the front i was first. I asked for vodka and lemonade and was told that the trolley hadn't been stocked so he had to "nip back to stock it". 30 mins later i got my drink. The tv' s didnt work so for the whole flight there was no entertainment. When the food did arrive it was ok. About as good as any other airline, however i had paid for premium upper deck so should have had an upgraded meal. Nope you guessed it, exactly the same as everyone else on the plane. We were supposed to have dedicated cabin crew but i went downstairs to find our crew serving down there. I pressed my wee light for service to get another drink. 1 hour 23 mins before they came to me. He seemed very put out when i told him i had waited such a long time as he was very busy!! the cheek of me asking for another drink!!. By the way i am still waiting for the drink as he never came back with it. People i spoke to in economy said the service down there was exactly the same....very poor. I asked the chief purser for a complaint form as they say we should do on the TCD website but they didnt have any. We asked why the plane was sent to Gatwick instead of us using it to go on time and she denied it saying that it went down empty to be repaired and then sent back up for us today and there was nothing they could have done about it. Her face ,when i produced a boarding card for 11.30 am from glasgow to gatwick the previous day from one of the uncleaned ashtrays, was a picture. She took my name and promised TDC would be in touch. When we finally landed and got through immigration we went to collect the car to find out TDC hadnt told Dollar we had paid premium insurance. The guy wanted our credit card but i refused. He was very helpful and told me to get it sorted before we returned the car and all would be fine. That was another 2 hours of our hols wasted trying to sort it out by having to go to a TDC shop. Even then i had to point out that line on the pc that said we had paid as the guy couldnt find it !!
Coming back we had to queue at the check in with the manchester flight as they both go out at the same time. 800 people checking in with only 3 desks open. And how can 2 flights go out at exactly the same time? Nope they didnt. We were sitting for over an hour before we left. Exactly the same plane but we felt really priveleged as the tv's were fixed. The service was exactly the same as the outbound flight...very bad!! Got offered 1 drink the whole flight but offered plenty to buy!! Food was cold this time and welcome refreshment didn't appear.
Speaking to other passengers some had villas booked with them and got the wrong ones allocated ie 3 bed instead of 4. Took them 24 hours to move them!!
I have been lucky enough to have traveled quite a lot throughout the world on many different airlines, and without a doubt TCD or Air Atlanta, whatever you call them, are easily the worst by a mile. They tell you nothing, the service is diabolical, they dont try to fix problems they just expect you to accept it. We paid £199 each extra for premium but other than a more legroom we got exactly the same as economy. The economy on both virgin and BA were far, far better than the premium with TCD. I appreciate thay are a budget airline but i am going to ABTA and trading standards and even if i have to, a small claims court to get some money back as they did not provide the service we paid for, budget airline or not.
If anyone had booked with TDC for the future i hope everything is ok for you but i know this flight is not an isolated incident as TDC seem to be like this a lot. If you havent booked yet then i strongly recommend you book with virgin or BA and avoid this bunch of cowboys like the plague.
