Is the redness supposed to go ALL the way away after a TB Test? I'm having it read tomorrow, but there is still a red area about the size of a good mosquito bite. Is this normal or am I positive?

** Real post, don't tell me to have it checked out, lol... that's tomorrow... I'm just freaking because someone told me there is supposed to be NO mark, that's why they circle the area! **

Thanks!
Karen

I am not certain of the answer, but I once had the same kind of mark when mine was red. They retested, and I was negative. So, until then, breath in, breath out. Let us know, please.

which test did you have done? the 3 prong test or the one where they inject the liquid under the skin (which causes a bubble for a short time?)

The liquid under the skin. It hurt like the dickens too!

Last year mine looked like a mini mosquito bite, and I tested negative. But the redness went down partway through the day before they read it and it started bruising. From what I've heard from friends there are a lot of different reactions that are still negative.

It's only if the redness extends to the perimeter of the circle, I believe.

If it's about the size of a small mosquito bite, I would read it as negative.
A positive reading would be a raised red welt > 10mm in size after 72 hrs (we read tham at 48 and 72 hrs)

Even then, that does mean you have TB.

But, yes, on many people (me, included) the injection site will remain red and maybe even slightly raised. Mine itch sometimes, too.

Quit worrying.

Thank you! Whew... :sunny:

Thanks for the quick answers.
