I haven't had one since I was little and I have to get one next week because of a medication I am on. Do they hurt?

They prick just a little right above the wrist towards your elbow. It stings a bit but really nothing like getting blood drawn or getting a shot. Don't bush down on the bump that should come up and do go get your results read.

ive gotten those in the past. you hardly even notice it. to me, it bothers me more to look at the little dots that it makes more than the actual test. its nothing.

The kind you had when you were little was probably different, but it still doesn't hurt. They stick a needle just under the skin of your inner arm (Between your elbow and wrist) and it makes a small "bubble." It usually goes away in about two days.

With that being said, I cannot watch this being done. Seeing the bubble grosses me out completely. It makes my skin look like it's boiling or something. So don't watch if that might bother you.

It seriously is pain free though, and that's from a needle wimp!!

It doesn't hurt but it's done with a regular size needle not the 4 prong thing we got in school.

It's a very thin and sharp needle. I gave hundreds of them when I worked for a Public Health Department.
Most of the time, people didn't even feel it. I had a few who said it was hurting (before I even touched the needle to their skin). Most people (but not everyone) think the "prong" tests hurt more since they involve 4 small pricks pushed into the skin. They are not accurate, since there is no way to determine how much of the solution was actually given. If one of those is postive, you'll still need the type that is given with a needle to confirm it anyway.

The best way for me to describe it is that it feels like a bee sting.
