Can anyone help me with Taxi information, like companies in the Orlando area. I don't know the first think about calling and getting a taxi, how much they cost or what I should tip them. help????

We used taxis to get from resort to resort or from park to resort to avoid the crowds waiting for the busses. At the resorts, you just walk out the front door and ask bell services to call you a taxi. At the parks, you just walk up to one across the parking lot. We paid an average of about $10 for each trip and the taxis came immediately. No need to call one yourself... bell services will do it for you.

The cost of taxis varies based on mileage and time. It is hard to say unless you know point A to point B. I think you can go almost anywhere on Disney property for a maximum of about $20. Less for shorter trips.
You would usually tip the driver 10 - 15% of the fare.
Hope this helps

Do you tip bell services for doing this for you?

No we didn't. We didn't feel it was necessary since all they did was wave their arms or pick up the telephone.

Oh we most definitely tipped the cab drivers! Actually... we OVERtipped the cab drivers! They work VERY long days to make a little amount of money.

We just did not tip the bell services guy that just asked where we were going and put up his hand to wave a cab over. :) Didn't seem like a tippable service IMHO.

how much would it cost to get a taxi from the all star music to the closest grocery store????? Or from this hotel to Sea world. We are trying to figure out if we should rent a car for a few days or take a taxi to the closest grocery store and maybe going to Sea World for a day. Any info will be apprecaited!

If you're a large group, they'll call you a taxi-van instead. But yes you can sit up front with the cab driver.

I don't believe so but Im not 100% sure. On our previous trip in 2005 we went with another couple and a couple of times they called us a van instead. I don't remember it being expensive. Just make sure you have some cash on you every day just in case we decided to skip the long bus wait and get a taxi instead. I'd throw a $20 in my purse whenever we went out of the room.

to answer any taxi questions you have about rates, capacity, etc. go to: www.mearstransportation.com

there you can find a taxi fare estimator, to give you approx. rates, you need to have addresses though for any destination that is not a major park or hotel.
