Can anyone tell me if the taxi's take credit cards for payment or only cash? I haven't used a taxi in years. Also does bell services call them for you or is there a specific number to call?

Thanks.

Taxis are usually staged at or near the resorts, so they are easy to get. If one isn't immediately available, a cast member can summon one for you and it will get there in literally minutes.

Sorry I can't answer your question about credit cards- we always used cash for our taxi rides.

. . . some do and some do not, but it is becoming more common
. . . you don't know until the cab comes for you

. . . it is based upon the resort
. . . at some resorts, they are standing by at the resort (eg. Boardwalk)
. . . in most cases, they are called
. . . calls can be done by Front Desk, Lobby Concierge, Bell Services *

* If there are not cabs standing by, let the Concierge call one for you
so he/she can earn the referral fee
.

All taxis at Disney resorts are Mears Checker Cabs, and they all take credit cards (at least according to the sign on the window.)

I can't think of a Disney resort that does not have Checker Cabs standing by. At most resorts, they stage in a parking lot not far from the Port Cochere until called, so they may not be immediately visible if you don't know where to look.

The Swan & Dolphin (which technically are not Disney resorts) have Mears Town Cars instead of taxis.

You can also call Mears and schedule a taxi. We did this when there were 5 of us, and we needed a taxi van instead is a sedan t, to go from SSR to GF for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. We called the day before and at the scheduled time they picked us up right at our building.

Thanks everyone.

I never thought of pre-arranging the taxi, that is a great idea. :)

I tried checking Mears website for the credit card info but couldn't find anything. I guess I will just make sure to bring cash and if they take cards even better.

For those needing a cab at the Swolphin, be aware that if you just ask for a cab they will try to put you into a Town Car, which will cost more. If you really want just a cab there, be firm and they will call one for you. They will probably try to tell you that you will have to wait a while for one, but we've found its only a couple of minutes.

Can I get a taxi van from YC to Hard rock Hotel for 5 easily. Does anyone know how much roughly?should we tip the person who phones a taxi for us?

There are always taxis at YC. Just walk outside and they will whistle one up for you. Don't know about the price. Its customary to tip the doorman a buck or two when you get into the cab.

Thanks its really hard to know who and how much
to tip!(from UK) we reckon for our trip we will need to take $600 for tipping!but then we've always found the service to be good and staff friendly.
