Does anyone out there know if there are taxis in Cocoa Beach area? We will probably book a hotel with a shuttle to port, BUT want to be sure we are early getting to the port and don't want to get held up if the shuttle decides to run late.

We haven't booked yet for out March 27th cruise. Are we cutting it close for getting a room? Has anyone NOT been able to get a room in the area prior to their cruise. We are in the process of deciding where to stay and what our transportation will be, but I am starting to get a little nervous.

Any help would be appreciated!

Maureen, I don't know if it will apply to you or not but when we tried to book a room at the Radisson for May 14 they actually told us they only had smoking rooms left. Maybe you will have better luck.
I also inquired about shuttles and was told all the hotels have info on the shuttles that run through Cocoa Beach to Port. They are appox. $3.00 per person and start around 11:00 AM.

Tink5697, do have the names/numbers for the shuttles?

I already know Art's Shuttle, but they seem to be the main "shuttlers" for the hotels whether it is a part of a package or just scheduled. I've spoken with them (art's) and they said they do not pick up before 12:00. Now this was in Aug. when they were not boarding until 12:15. Maybe they will pick up earlier now that they are boarding earlier?

I would love to find out about any other shuttle or taxi that will definitely pick up around 10:30-11.

Thanks, Lorie

I also spoke to Art's, they would pick us up around 12:00. The one I think we will go with was COCOA BEACH SHUTTLE. They would pick us up around 11:00 from the Hotel, that was the earliest I could get. I found the list here:

Click on the Limo/Taxi/Shuttle list on the left side. It must be an old list because about 6 companies on the shuttle list were disconnected #'s. I'm sorry I didn't write down which ones those were.

Thanks for all your help. I think we are going to forgo the Radisson and opt for a hotel on or near the Beach! Being from Wisconsin, we look forward to everyday on vacation near the ocean. I am leaning toward the Comfort Suites or the Quality Suites. I will check the shuttle site that you gave above. Thanks for all the help.

Still open for suggestions and info!

Well, Dave's site helped us tremendously! It has the links to the sites and comparisons. He also has a map of Cocoa Beach with all the htoels listed to see exactly where everything is. In the past week while we were booking the hotel, I refered to his site at least 2 times a day. Thanks again Dave! :)

If the beach is important to you, you might want to try the Hamptons or the Marriott. They are basically on the beach and go for around $100. There is a short path from the hotels to the beach.

The Marriott has a shuttle service. The Hampton uses the same shuttle service, but you have to arrange for it. It's $3 pp per way.

We stayed at the Marriott last June for $99 which included the shuttle.

This June we'll be staying at the Hampton for $89 which includes breakfast and we will be setting up a shuttle that will hopefully pick us up early.

I've heard of some really great hotel prices, but it seems like they are not very close to the beach. There are some hotels closer than the 2 above right on the beach, but they quoted me pretty high prices.

Unfortunately, I am not lucky enough to have points from any rewards program, so I have to go with what I can get!

Well, some people don't like it, but we stayed at the Doubletree on the beach, and it had the best beach access! There were even lounge chairs on the beach and the bartender made our drinks to go! It was $85 a night!! We sat on the beach and watched the cruise ships heading out to sea!

Thanks so much for all the info. I am not so much worried about price as I am having the hotel at least NEAR the beach and probably with a pool and bar! Sounds like you've mentioned a few that will work. Thanks.

Can we get back to the taxi question?

We will be staying at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach. It is a free room using rewards both day before and day after.

Will there be a taxi nearby the hotel to take to the port and one near the port for return to the hotel?

Are taxi's plentiful and willing to take you for such a short trip.

Hey Maureen, we are on the same cruise as you.

Hi Lampy, Nice to meet you. We are 2 couples in late 30's/early 40's and 1 girl - 9. This will not be our first cruise, but first with Disney. What kind of group are you traveling with?

I may be in trouble. I just did a search for Hotels in Cocoa Beach and they are almost all BOOKED! Yikes! I'd better get our stuff together and try and get a couple of rooms in one of the two that still has some. One was the Radisson which I didn't really want to stay in because I'd like to be near the beach.

I'd better make some calls!

Can anyone answer my taxi question, please.

TIA

Maureen, it will be Me, DW 39 and holding, DS -11 and DD -9. We are staying in a SPH, looking forward to the trip. Our 2nd Disney cruise.

Jeff

Can't you just have the hotel call a taxi for you when you are ready to leave for the port? I've never heard that a hotel can't do this. And since Cocoa Beach is a tourist destination, I'm sure there are many taxi companies available.

And how much would a cab cost from one of the Cocoa Beach hotels? It couln't possibly be too much.

I don't know. That's the big question. I can't even find any solid evidence of a cab service........So, last night I booked rooms at Comfort In & Suites in Cocoa Beach AND rented a minivan as well. I just wasn't satisified that we'd be able to get to the port when we wanted and I wanted it in OUR hand, not those of a shuttle service.

Thanks for all you help on everything. We can't wait to go!

Maureen
