Anyone actually done this or know how much it will roughly cost?

My friends have a lot of luggage and don't really want to have to trek around on Public Transport and they are staying at The Champs Elysee before our trip.

Thanks in advance

Hi Sam and welcome to the DLP DIS board :wave2:
Hopefully someone will come in tomorrow to help since it is 22.45hrs here now.

Wow - really... that high? - it looked closer on the map than CdG airport and I have a book that says that is around 50 euros.

Hi Reid, thanks for the welcome -I've only stayed at DLP once at Santa Fe for 48 hours but now I'm staying at Sequoia Lodge with some friends, hee-hee I was aware of the time as I also live in the UK, did you think I was from over the pond? Kaylee would tell you I may as well be the amount of time I spend over there ;)

Anyway I hope to get some more tips on my DLP stay from here, there's so much to know. I'm already a fan of DLP from my first visit, I was so ready to be disappointed that I was really pleasantly surprised and am so glad to be going back for longer this time, 4 nights :Pinkbounc

CDG to DLRP is almost all motorway whereas comming in or out of the city will be very busy and take longer.
The RER is really ok. You would need to take the metro to Chatelet then the RER to the Disney station Marne la vallee.

Thanks for that I told them originall all about the RER etc, but as my friends are from America and would have been touring a little of London and Paris, they're going to have 2 big suitcases each plus hand luggage and laptop - so maybe they could get a taxi to Chatelet but then what do they do at the other end with all that luggage to get to Sequoia Lodge?

I just want to make this as easy for them as possible for first-timers to Europe.

LOL no worries Reid :teeth:

At the train station there are bus lines for each of the disney hotels.

Your map is off a bit :) It's 15 miles to CDG and 26 miles to Disney from central Paris. The Champs-Elysees is on the opposite side of Paris from Disney adding even more time. I could be on the high side, maybe its 90 to 100 euros. One of the problems is that Disney is in Zone C for the taxis whereas CDG is metered at zone B (except sundays and nights). In zone C the meter moves the fastest. Also so they arent surprised, the taxi driver will add (in his head) 1 euro per bag to the metered fare.

If they decide to take a taxi part of the way only, why not take it to "Etoile" (Arch de Triomphe) ? They can catch the RER there directly to Disney. If they are close to the Arch then they might not even need a taxi. There are escalators at some of the entrances so they dont have to drag their luggage down the stairs.

If Etoile is a problem I would suggest taking a taxi to Gare de Lyon rather than Chatelet. Chatelet has about 25 entrances and some are litterally blocks away from where they need to be. They could end up walking quite a bit in the subway. If they go in the front of the Gare de Lyon they go strait in until they see the train tracks and then they can turn to the right past the movie rental place and they will see a glass elevator. Or there are escalators right after they come in as well.

The biggest challenge is getting through the turnstile, heres what they need to do. Ask at the ticket window if they can open the door next to the turnsitiles for them. They would then run their RER ticket through the vaildator at the turnstile but not go through, then push the door open, paying attention to close it behind them. If the ticket window person doesnt speak english just have them point at their bags then the door (or gate). Keep those tickets handy, they will need them again to get out when they get to Disney.

Oh wow I guess my map was a bit deceiving on the eye, thanks for that Morgan and thanks for all that invaluable advice, we really appreciate it.

I'm the one Sam was posting for. What about a car service? Any recommendations?

TIA

Rachael

Keep in mind that, in case you take a taxi, you are sure everything is going to fit in the trunk! European cars are smaller than American cars, and especially the trunk is smaller!!!

Rachael nice to see you over on the DLP boards :wave2:
Have a look at this thread as there are a number of transport companies listed.

Hopefully someone can comment on personnal experience. If not we'll have a look to see if anyone has given any recommendation in a trip report :)
