Taxis at the Parks?

Does anyone know how hard it is to get a taxi from the parks? My father in law is on dialysis and will be coming when we go to WDW in May. He'll need to get to a nearby hospital for treatment at least twice while we're there and since we won't have a rental car, I was trying to figure out the most hassle-free way for him to go. Is there a place where a CM can call a taxi for you in the parks, or would it be better for him to go back to the resort and call a taxi from there? Any input would be great.

We have caught Taxi's from our resort... and from DTD. Not sure about the parks but I would think you could call in the morning and schedule a pick up at a certain time & place and they would be there. That's what we did when we left our resort... they were right there on time.

We've used taxi's in the past, picked them up at all of the parks, there's usually more of them around at closing time. I'd get a few numbers of local ones and program them in your cell phone. One time we called for one and took only 5 or 10 minutes to get there.

You can normally catch a taxi outside all WDW resorts. They are ususally waiting, but if one is not available a Cast Member will get one for you right away.
I have read that taxis are available outside the theme parks, ususally past the Disney buses. Keep in mind this is not the case for the Magic Kingdom since only Disney buses are allowed near the park entrance. All other traffic must go to the TTC. From the Magic Kingdom you can monorail to any of the MK resorts (Poly, Contemporary, Grand Floridian) and get a taxi from there. Note also that you can walk to the Contemporary from the MK entrance in about ten minutes.

We went carless approx. 2 years ago and hoped to get a taxi back from DS one morning. None was there and, as it so often seems to work out, the bus took a bit longer than we hoped it would.

I recall seeing them at the resorts, but not too regularly near the parks -- anyone know the deal or how one might call for one?
