taxi - true they don't require carseats?

When we were there last, we had a late reservation at Cali Grill. When we asked the best way to get back, we (my stepdad) were told by Cali Grill staff that there would be a bus going back to Wilderness Lodge, since the boats were done for the night. (FTR, I thought this sounded really strange, since I'd never heard of or seen a bus that went between the two, but I just went with it.) We waited for ages before asking again about it and we were told (of course) that bus didn't exist. Since we'd waited so long based on misinformation, they called (and paid for) a cab from Mears. We had a 6-month-old, and so we had to wait an extra long time for one to show up because they said that they were waiting on one with a car seat for us.

It was too big for my son, and I wasn't exactly sure how to adjust it - and it was kinda too dark to try to figure it out - and we were so so tired at that point, I just locked him in and held him tight. Since it was such a short ride, I didn't worry too much - if we were going to another resort I may have taken more time to adjust it. It was a very basic convertible-style seat.

So...just be aware of all that. We had to wait a pretty long time to get one that had a car seat at that hour (past Midnight).

It always freaked me out when we flew into MCO and took ME and they kids were riding without car seats or seat belts. They are also not in car seats when you are on the Disney busses. Again, freaks me out, but there is nothing I can do once on property.
When we have flown into Sanford and used a car service, we just brought our own seat and stored it in the room.
I would use a car service with a seat for the airport to the resort (if you aren't using ME) and just forgo the seat once on property and use regular seat belts in the taxi. Not my favorite idea, but I also wouldn't want to lug 2 seats around when going to meals or the parks.
Like I said, if you were taking the bus there would be no car seats.

A bus is different than a car though- for a bus it's safer for people to not be restrained in the event of an accident.

So, we ended up not bringing a car seat but working something out with the VIP guide service. As a point of reference, all large vans that showed up as our cab (any time we were more than 5 folks) had car seats available. No cabs did.

Also, if anyone is heading down soon, we had an interesting experience with stroller rental. We brought our single but contemplated a double when we got there. Found a place called Apple Stroller. They were offering strollers for "free". Of course, must be a catch?

Not much. They charged us $23 for 5 days to cover delivery and pickup. Said they are doing it through the end of the year to try and impress Disney for the next stroller bid. No idea if it was true, but stroller was pristine (liner was washed before we got it). Easy to pickup and drop off at bell stand.
