Do you guys have any idea of what it would cost to take a taxi to the nearest Walmart to Disneyworld. The taxi would have to wait while we did some intense grocery shopping and take us back to the condo (OKW). Any ideas????

Thanks

It's going to run you at least $20, probably more.

I would recommend a shopping service instead. There are several good ones that charge a fee much less than a taxi would cost you.

Check out:

Gardengrocer.com
Wegoshop.com
Goodings.com

Basically, you contact them ahead of time with a list of what you want, they go purchase it at the store of your choice (except Goodings, that is at their store only), then deliver it. The fee will probably be less than a taxi, and the time saving well worth it!!

You will save the taxi price by going to Walmart than using the shopping service, plus you will get a chance to check out everything than you might have left off the list. Also if you forget something with a shopping service you have to call back and set up another delivery. You can view choices at the Walmart. It is much nicer to see the vegetables at the store than to look at them when they are delivered. Prices at a shopping service are more and there are threads on the boards that show it. Do not use the Goodings unless you have a lot of money to spend.

Have the taxi drop you off and call Mears Transportation 407-422-2222 just before you are ready to leave the store.

I agree with Edd, if you really want to make the trip yourself. Don't leave the meter running -- there are so many taxis in the area you could have one pick you up to go back to OKW.

thanks guys. That probably is the best thing to be dropped off and just call another one when we are ready to leave. I have wanted to try the shopping service, but I will be getting groceries for 7 days for 9 people, so I think WalMart is my best bet. Thanks again.

Gardengrocer.com and WeGoShop.com will shop at Super Wal-Mart for you!!!

Another option other than a taxi is checking out 24 hour car rentals from Alamo/National at the Dolphin or Car Care Center. I've gotten a compact for as low as $30 all inclusive.

How do you get to the car care center from your hotel? I was thinking of renting a car for one day to shop.

Call them from your resort and they will send a shuttle. Also, when you drop off the care, they will return you to anywhere on Disney property you need.
