:wave2:We'll be staying @ both AOA & SSR for a split stay. Does anyone know how much a cab fare will be to get to a grocery store from either Resort? Was this EZ or a pain for you? Does the cab give you 15 min or so to run in w/o an extra charge? [no cabs or bus system in the suburbs where I'm from. So,sry if it seems like a silly Q.] THANX!

Publix would be the closest to AOA, and Winn-Dixie the closest to SSR.
There is a Goodings closer to SSR but their prices are generally higher.

From AOA to the Publix on S International Dr, a taxi would be approx $11-$12 plus tip each way. Not sure if they allow a free waiting period, but I doubt it.

From SSR to the Winn-Dixie on rt 535 the fare would be about the same.
To the Goodings a couple of bucks less.

We went to Publix last fall........$17.00 each way plus tip......so about $40 round trip.

The driver dropped us off and I told him to come back in 1 hour, and he was right there.

Goodings is very expensive, I would really look into a company like Green Grocer, which we are doing next fall.

Have done both the supertarget and the superwalmart from SSR. All were less than $20,- each way incl. a good tip.

As for the trip back, you can ask the driver to come back in x-amount of time. If not sure when you will be done, you can use the option of calling Mears or going to the service desk and have them call. This option did result in another company that was a bit more expensive when we used it, but again still below $20,- incl. tip.

I would just order them from a delivery service like wegoshop.com or gardengrcer.com

I agree with Alesia. After paying for the taxi (and tip), it's pretty much going to be a wash cost-wise between going to a supermarket yourself and using a delivery service like Garden Grocer. We've done it both ways and we'll never go to a grocery store again while at WDW.
To our thinking, we're paying plenty for our WDW trip, so why spend any of our valuable vacation time in a grocery store?

This is what I did our March trip. Wonderful, no worry, rushing. I ordered online, our water, carpi suns, english muffins, bread, turkey ham, tub of butter, carrot sticks, not sure what else. It was there in the morning, and brought up to the room for me. Kept me from making impulse buys.

I actually took my toaster, and water pot. both unpluged and shelved before leaving for the day.

When I packed, I took. squeeze jelly, squeeze mayo, packets of mustard and ketcup, zip lock baggies and also gal size baggies.

I ordered Pappa Johns pizza delivery off site, on the Internet is a coupon for $2 off. They will bring the plates, napkins extras. I liked this as an alternative to the onsite value pizza p/u. The menu was more varied, and included a bottle of soda for the meal too.

The Garden Grocer order came to about $49. with the cost added I think it was a total of $62, but not all the aggrivation and cost of a taxi.
