Question for all you experts.
Is there a grocery store close to WDW Beach Club so that I can take a cab to pick up some supplies? If so, which store should I go to and how much is the taxi? I'm trying to figure out which would be cheaper: taxi to store or delivery service. I'm leaving early Friday. The delivery service quoted $68 for some breakfast items, cold cuts and case of water. What do you recommend?
Thank you for advice.

Here's what I've done for the past few years ... maybe it will help you decide what's best for you. I've never had anything delivered. I pack breakfast items in our luggage (cereal, pop tarts, bagels, granola bars). There is a Hess station within walking distance across the street from the Boardwalk. Last year we rented a car and made our first trip out of the Disney bubble. We ventured to the store near DTD, I think it's Goodings. In addition to it being the nastiest store I've ever been in I didn't think their prices on milk and such were any better than the resort stores! I would not waste the money on a cab to go there, especially judging from the fact that it cost $5 to cab from WL to the Poly! I look at it as buying a few items at the resort may be worth it because you can buy just what you need and not feel the urge to overbuy just to make a delivery worth it. Again, just my 2cents.

Beach Club is very centrally located. It would cost at least $15 (plus tip) each way to the closest grocery store. And that would be Goodings, known for its high prices, in the Crossroads Shopping Center.

I assume you are flying in. What if you took a cab from the airport and then have them stop at the grocery store on the way. We have done this almost every trip.

Yes I am flying, but we're taking ME to the resort. I am packing cereal and other non-perishables. What I am looking for are organic milk and baby items. But I guess if it'll be $15 each way plus tip - I may as well use the delivery service and save time. This way I have more time at the parks. Thank you all for such a quick response!

Many years ago, before ME, we used a town car service to pick us up from MCO. The town car service allowed a fast grocery stop on the way to the resort. We had to make sure to let the company know when we made our reservation, and reminded the driver. I don't know if a town car service allows this anymore, but if so, this may be an option.

I would rent a car for the day. You can usually get rates at low as $30 for a one day rental from Alamo located at the Dolphin hotel. Gives you a full 24hours to go where ever you want.

If you eat one meal offsite it would save you almost enough to pay for the car rental. Compared to dinning at Disney.

On vacation, the last thing I want to do is carve out time to go grocery shopping. We get the delivery service (Garden Grocer) and it's nice to have our groceries brought right to our room.

There is a Winn Dixie right down the street from Goodings (left out of Disney - on the right). I would never Goodings store as it is intentionally overpriced to gouge Disney vacatoiners. There is a Walmart about 5 miles away as well (right out of Disney - on the right).

I used to use wegoshop and have wonderful experiences with it. It is a set fee over the cost of the groceries and they wil bring you the receipt for your groceries so you know EXACTLY what they sent. I think Garden Grocer is very expensive when I compared the two services.

I have also heard a lot of people that have been using Walmart.com to deliver pre-ordered items to the resorts. Obviously it cannot be things that will spoil, but if you can get almost everything via Walmart.com and then spend the extra at the resort for eggs, milk, etc. I think that is a viable option.

I would and do use the delivery service. Yes, the prices are higher but by the time you take a taxi and/or rent a car, you will have spent just as much if not more money and used some of your vacation time. I just always have stuff delivered from Garden Grocer. In the alternative, you could buy stuff on WDW property, but those prices are even higher.
