Taxi service inside WDW?

On our first night at WDW, I'd like to take the busses from ASMu to MK and then ride the monorail loop(s) and do dinner (8:15 at CM), but another member cautioned me that the busses only run so long after MK closes - at 6 pm. I really don't want to rush or cancel my PS, but I also don't want to stand around at DtD for hours waiting for a later bus (there'll be 2 small kids and a senior citizen). Hence my questions:

- How much would it cost to get a taxi back to ASMu if we miss the last bus?

- Where is the best place to call for such a taxi? I don't typically use pay phones, and didn't notice them on my last trip (long ago).

Any other tips or suggestions? Thanks.

There are taxi stands in the parking lots for each park. At MK the taxis are to the right as you exit the park, over toward the Poly. You can go anywhere on Disney property for $10 to $15.

You can still get back to ASMu using Disney transportation if you prefer. The monorail will be running to Epcot until at least an hour after Epcot closes. You could catch your ASMu bus there.

Note also you can easily get a taxi right out front at any resort there (including Contemporary where you will be dining) and the resort's valet CM's who are always out front will get one for you.

derusha, how long would you say the wait for a taxi is from the AK, boardwalk or from the gf? 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes? thanks in advance.

I had wondered that myself. (How long it would take for a taxi.)
For our experience, the bus service at POR was terrible. Had there been taxis, we would have taken them instead. But I figured by the time I have someone get a taxi there, a bus may finally show up anyway.
It's too bad taxis weren't there at the resort already. They probabaly would have had a good business! Or maybe they had been and other guests took them!
