Taxi service in WDW?

Hi,

I'm planning our first trip to WDW, and we're flying and don't want to rent a car (it's more relaxing to us to not have to navigate, etc). We plan to use Disney transportation (still unsure about ME, though). How costly is it (and I'm assuming it's available) to take a taxi every so often within WDW? I'm thinking it would be more convenient for the times we're going to other resorts to eat. For instance, we're taking a boat from MK to Hoop-de-doo one evening, but coming back (to POR), I thought it would be faster and easier to get a taxi than to take a bus to DTD and a boat to POR. A few other times it might be easier too.

Appoximately how much would that cost, and are there van-type taxis for our party of 7? Thanks!

The front desk at your resort will call a cab for you, just let them know you need a van. I took a cab from WL to BW and it was $17.00 and 15 min. Well worth the money because the night before I took the bus from WL to MGM and then the boat to BW and it took 1 hour 15 min. At night, I took the bus from BW to DTD and then switched to a bus to WL and it took almost an hour and 45 min. to get home. The cab is the way to go!

In October we decided to use DME instead of either renting a car or using a Town Car service. I budgeted using taxis within WDW as desired, and still felt we would save money. We did. We did not use taxis as often as I thought we would.
From what I have read, I think your specific question about the HDDR may not be necessary. I have read that at the conclusion of the HDDR there is a bus for each resort in Fort Wilderness.
That said, I think it is fair to say that the average taxi fare from point to point is between $10 and $20. I do not know the answer about a 7 person van. HTH
