I'm embarrassed to say I've never ridden in a taxi. :confused3 So here are my dumb taxi questions:

How does it work with a 2yo? Do they have car seats? Or is it legal or safe (ie; non-crazy drivers, seatbelts, etc) if there are no car seats? (I'm not talking about to and from the airport, just from one resort to another for an ADR)

Also, how much $ would one plan on, say from the Caribbean to the Grand Floridian? And, do they take debit/credit cards, or cash only? What about tips?

Thanks for any light you can shed for me!

I have never seen a carseat in a cab before, however, some in the Disney area may have them. You would have to check with the cab company.

I also have never been in a cab that took credit or debit cards, usually just cash. Again, there may be some that do, but I believe they are mostly a cash business. As far as tips, I generally give 20%, but 15% is acceptable too. In November we took a cab from AKL to Coronado Springs and the driver said it would be about $8-$10, but it only came to $7. The driver or someone at your hotel could give you an approximate price.

If you are only going to use taxis within WDW the cost will be small. I took a taxi from the Boardwalk in June that did take credit cards. But I don't think you will need that option to travel locally within WDW. FYI, all Disney resorts have taxis normally waiting outside the main entrance. If one is not there a Cast Member will get one for you right away.

The valet or guest services people can call you a cab and request one with a car seat, but they don't all have them, and I've seen a couple in cabs that were filthy. They will all have seatbelts. Cabs are excluded from car seat requirements. And I hate to say it, but I've seen a LOT of crazy driving at WDW--especially in the earlier morning hours when CM's are late for work.

Plan on $13-18 for that trip, plus a 20% tip. I've never been in one that took credit/debit cards, only cash.
