We have used several Town Car services in the past when we have come to Orlando with our entire family. This time it is just DH & me, we are attending a conference at the Rosen Centre Hotel first and then going to CSR for a few days. We don't want to rent a car. Have never just grabbed a taxi, any experiences with that - and would it cost less?

In my experience its actually cheaper to hire a town car because of the r/t discount. For example a TC cost about $100 r/t to a WDW resort. We once needed a taxi from CR to MCO (long story) and the cost was $57.00 plus tip.

I've used cabs a couple times, but I didn't like the uncertain feeling of watching the meter tick away while we were stuck in traffic or the driver seemed to be lollygagging along. I like knowing up front what the towncar cost will be. Turns out that the cab and the towncar were comparable in total price including tips, but the towncar is obviously much nicer. I also like the free grocery stop that was included in the towncar service. Since you're going to a conference, maybe a grocery stop isn't necessary. Or maybe it would be helpful for snacks, bottled water, whatever.

Whenever I don't rent a car, I'll always choose a towncar service instead of a cab in the future. ::yes::
