If we are staying at POR and want to spend a day at Universal or Holy Land is the best transportation option a taxi? We've always rented a car, but this time we were told "no need for a car when you stay on disney property", then I realized we'd like to do a few non-disney parks....oops! Suggestions? Will this be a really expensive trip?

I usually take Mears when I go to Universal. It costs about $13 per person round trip.

If I remember correctly, a towncar service is around $40. If you have 3 or more people in your group, that might be a good way to go.

great, thanks for the tips. Do I need to reserve one of these before we leave I assume?

The taxi cost is about right. Two years ago we took a taxi to Universal from ASM and it was around $50/one way. That happened to be the only time we went off-site. That's $100 dollars just in travel costs for one day. Be careful, the more you travel off-site the more money you are going to spend, and so you could of rented a car for the same or less money.
