Has anyone taken a taxi from Orange County Airport to the Grand Californian? If so how much does it cost? How long did it take to wait and get a taxi? And about how long of a drive was it? Thank you in advance for any information you could give!

We did on our trip last month. No wait at all - there were TONS of taxis waiting outside the airport. Cost us about $25 and took 20 minutes.

We stayed at the Carousel Inn but would be the same distance.

Thank you Maxie for the quick response. We didn't want to hassle with a car rental or shuttles so we thought this would be a quick option. Did you also use a car seat to strap in the taxi. I know how some taxi drivers don't like to wait while you strap the thing in.

yup we took our car seat along and than strapped it in. Only took a few minutes and my DH did it while the driver loaded up the luggage. We did rent a car later in the trip to drive down to San Diego so used the car seat than.

OC was a great airport to fly into. It's very small.

Thanks again Maxie for the response. My dd will be over 3 years old by the time we arrive for our trip, so I wasn't sure if we could just strap her in the cab with the lap belt between my husband and I. She is now almost as tall as a 4 year old, so the car seats are getting to small for her. I suppose we could look into a booster seat to bring, since I am not sure if the taxi's will let you strap a 40 month old in without a booster.

A year or so ago, we shared a cab from DLH to John Wayne with another couple and I thought it ran around $35+tip. We had planned on taking Supershuttle at $11/person, but this was slightly cheaper and we didn't have to wait for the shuttle. It's possible that the rates are cheaper going to the hotels since there can be a lot of competition at the airport.

I believe calif. law requires booster seats till 6 or 60 lbs. We are going in two weeks and have been told by the shuttle co. that I need a booster for my almost 5 year old.

cost: $32 + tip
time spent waiting for cab: 5 minutes; would have been much less but we had too many in our party to take a regular cab and needed a taxi van
time spent driving: 20 minutes
