Taxi from LongBeach

Beware of the cab fares!!! The taxi fee is regulated $36 from LongBeach to Anaheim (we flew in on Jet Blue). But the fee back to the airport was quoted as about $45. We watched the meter keep climbing all the way to $55. The driver said he was shock it was so high. The ride was on a Sunday afternoon so traffic was busy but not bad. I think we were scammed. Anyone else have such a high return fare?

I've read on other boards that its about $45 for the return trip. That is one of the reasons I went with the car rental. I had a car for 3-4 days, for $45- the cost of one way in a cab.
