Thinking of hitting a concert at hard rock orlando the night we arrive (we get in early AM so that's not the issue) thought about doing a town car or taxi.. if a town car, has anyone been to a concert there? it starts at 8, any idea when they would be over? 3 bands playing.. Need to figure out when to tell them i need a ride back to BWI.. or if we decide on taxi, is mears the preferred at universal / hard rock area? And getting a taxi at midnight, how big of a deal to get back to BWI. This will be sat the 15th of dec.

I really dont want to rent a car a) because I dont want to deal with it, but more b) good chance a few adult beverages may be involved.. I like having stuff taken care of before hand, so would love the towncar, but not sure on the timing..

Because I wouldn't want to be held to a pick up time, I would just grab a cab. There will be plenty available at the transportation area of City Walk at night/closing. You can always save the # for Mears in your phone. They will dispatch one for you if you call.

Mears website should have a fare calculator if you are interested.

I guess that's my other question. Where IS the hard rock? ie: will the cab be able to drop us off right at the front or will it have to drop us off in some other area and then we walk? Have never been to the US area so totally, totally clueless :)

The cab can drop you off and pick you up ight in front of the Hard Rock Hotel - it has it's own entrance just like any other hotel :)

I have been at the HR during a concert and the cabs and towncars are plentiful - when your ready to leave the valet will hail one for you.

Last time we moved from HRH to the Dolphin a cab was about $40 plus tip. I did make sure that the driver was aware that I knew the route and approximate cost as I was taken the "long way" on a prior trip.

sweet.. what should I figure as actual drive time, under normal conditions.. Not taking into account actually getting the cab. 1/2 hour?

And looking at the route they should pretty much take Buena Vista Dr to epcot center dr to I4 then off on univ blvd? or sand lake and turkey lake?

Is the concert at the hotel? I would have thought you would be dropped off at Citywalk and then walk in to the cafe, not go to the actual hotel.

Yes the Hard Rock Hotel has a concert series and it is actually at the hotel itself not the Hard Rock Cafe or citiwalk. So the best place to be dropped off is at the hotel !

I don't remember the actual route, sorry haven't done it enough times but 30 minutes sounds about right.

They might want to double-check or even triple-check the exact location. If this is the Jäegermeister Presents tour, with Halestorm, it's at the Hard Rock Live. Best of my recollection, that's the concert hall attached to the Hard Rock Café.

You'd get dropped at The Hub, take the escalator up, turn left, walk through the tunnel, head toward Islands of Adventure, and Hard Rock Live/Hard Rock Café should just require a slight right past the lake.

I was just coming back to post this - OP double check your event and venue as the Hard Rock Hotel does have a concert scheduled for the 14th of December but I didn't see anything on the website for the 15th?

Either if it were me I would have the cab take me to the Hard Rock hotel and walk through the hotel out to the back where there is a clearly marked path to the park area. There will also be rickshaw drivers that will bike you to the Hard Rock Cafe for tips if you don't feel like walking. IMHO this would be closer than getting dropped off at the Universal main entrance to city walk as the HRC is at the back close to the parks. It "may" also be easier to grab a cab from the hotel for the return to WDW than from the Citiwalk/Universal exit.

they have the velvet lounge concerts on the last thursday of each month.
other than that, i'm not aware of any concert series they hold at other times of the month.

check their website for more details/information on their concerts that are held in the hotel velvet lounge.

yes, it's halestorm / in this moment.. it's at HR live... so i request to be dropped off at 'the hub' and i guess taxi drivers will know where this is??
