Taxi from AKL to Hoop Dee Doo???

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my travelling party (consisting of 4 families....14 total) from AKL to Fort Wilderness for a 7:15 Hoop Dee Doo PS. We will be without a rental car.

Is it possible to get two or three cabs to get us from AKL to Fort Wilderness? What would the cost be?

We have six kids in the party (incl. a 1-year-old), and I would like to minimize the wait time....it seems that taking a bus to MK or DTD to catch a boat or another bus to Fort Wilderness is time consuming.

Any thoughts?

I am going to take a guess at maybe $15.00 from AKL to the Fort Wilderness. I'm sure someone will have a more definite answer.
You should not have any problems getting taxis at the AKL. All the Disney resorts have cabs waiting outside the main hotel entrance. The Cast Member at the podium will take care of it for you. Since you will need more than one taxi you may want to inquire at the podium ahead of time. This way the CM will make sure the taxis are ready for you when you want to leave.

A taxi will cost you a fortune! That is on the other end of WDW. My suggestion is to take the bus to MK and take the boat over to FW from there. I would leave AKL an hour before hand to be safe. You can reverse the process on the way back.

When I took a cab by myself from AKL to the spa at what was then Disney Institute, I was picked up by a van....lots of room. I'm guessing it seated at least nine. My cab fare was covered by WDW by voucher so I don't know how much the fare would have been but just wanted to let you know that there are larger cabs out there.

However, a cab would not be able to drop you off right at HoopDeeDoo but rather at the Outpost and then you would take an internal bus to the Settlement.

I can't imagine a taxi costing a "fortune"...especially if we could get two taxi vans that accomodate up to 7 people. According to mousesavers, the cost is the same as a regular taxi. Each taxi fare would be shared by two families.

Is having to use an internal bus at Fort Wilderness that big of a deal? Maybe I'm missing something, but you can arrange a taxi to be at your hotel at whatever time you'd like....a straight shot to FW. At that point, it's a matter of waiting for the right internal bus to get to close to Hoop Dee Doo.

If we do the Disney transportation from AKL....there is potentially a longer wait to get to MK, then another wait to get a boat to FW. While the marina at FW is next to Hoop Dee Doo, there are two wait times for Disney transportation.

Is the second scenario that bad? Could it really take one hour to get from AKL to Hoop Dee Doo?
