Taxi fare to go .63 miles?

friend and I are staying at Sheraton at Airport but she is attending a conference at the Marriott Renaissance. better hotel deal at Sheraton. we wont have a car the first day and dont want her walking(involves crossing over a freeway, looks like on the map anyway).

any idea how much taxi fare would be for this short trip?

Mears charges 2.20 for the first .25 mile and then .55 per .25 mile so a 1 mile trip costs $3.55 plus tip. Mears runs Checker Cab and Yellow Taxi.

There is no Marriott Renaissance. There is a Renaissance right across the street from the Sheraton. The highway you will cross is 436 or Semoran Blvd. There is a light and crosswalks that can be used. The price on a taxi meter will be about 3.00 - 4.00 if you can get a taxi to pick you up. More than likely independents will be sitting at the hotel and want to charge you about $10.00 flat rate to go across the street. The walk is about the same walk you might do, from the plane to the baggage floor. About a 10 to 15 minute walk.

For what its worth there appears to be a crosswalk she could use to cross the street (it isn't a highway) should she want to walk.

I agree.

Semoran Blvd. is not a freeway. Walking from the Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport to the Renaissance Hotel Orlando Airport would mean crossing Semoran Blvd. at an intersection with crosswalks and traffic signals.

There's a third option in addition to walking or taking a taxi. The Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport has complimentary local shuttle service to the airport and other local locations (arranged through bell services) -- or it did last time I stayed there. Especially if it's hot or raining, the shuttle could be the least expensive, most convenient option. Of course, the shuttle driver welcomes tips.
