Taxi and rental car question

How much would it cost to get a Taxi from WDW to Universal City Walk?
Or how much would it cost to rent a car for one day? Can you get a rental car from the front desk of the Pop Century?

No you can't rent a car at the front desk of POP. They do rent them at the Car Care Center outside MK. There is a shuttle that can pickup/dropoff.

I would guess cab fare ROUND TRIP to Universal (plus tips)would be more expensive than renting a small car for the day...but with the car rental you will need to factor in parking costs at Universal and the hassle/time spent getting and returning the car. I just used ALamo from the WDW Car Care Center and it was pretty easy but i think next trip I will just use cabs.

Okay, a taxi from Travelodge Maingate East (by Old Town) to Universal Studios ran up a fare of about $38 on the meter. The hotel'sshuttle service was paying for it (long story) but I'd guess maybe $3-$5 less from Pop?

You could take the bus from Pop to MK, monorail to TTC, Lynx to SeaWorld ($1.50 per person), free shuttle from SeaWorld to Universal.

Hey there...one day in a compact rental car in January was $55 with taxes when I priced it out.

I priced it from National Car Service that has a car location in the Dolphin with a drop off in Ft. Lauderdale. It might be cheaper if you return to the same location.

What's the Lynx? Is it $1.50 each way? Have you done this? What are the shuttle times?

A co-worker of mine took a taxi from POP to Sea World and it was $23.00 one way, not including tip.
Lynx is the public bus system you can pick up the bus from the TTC, their website is www.golynx.com.
You can also consider Mears, they have a shuttle that will pick you up at your resort and take you to Universal, I think the cost is $14 per person. You can contact them (407) 423-5566 for reservations or inquiries.

I went on the Lynx site and found out that there are bus stops at all four parks, water parks and Downtown Disney and they have a stop at City Walk but you have to get a transfer, it seems confusing and I don't want to end up getting lost and taking a taxi after all that confusion, can someone give me some clairification, I don't even use public transportation at home.
