If you file your taxes online - who has best price? Planned to use TurboTax, but to do Fed and State it was $90. I already have to pay in - so certainly looking for the cheapest, but credible tax option. thanks,

I use TaxAct for my federal taxes only - that's free.

Then I use the state website to file my state taxes for free - CA started this a few years ago, not sure any other states have. It's not the best interface - you have to enter everything all at once, you can't save and come back later to finish - but if you have your Federal forms in front of you it's really not a big deal.

I use Tax Slayer, for us it was 19.90 for both, depending on your income it could be free. Think the cap was around 32 or 33k. Military and if qualified for EIC it's also free.

First off - now is not the time to buy TurboTax. I got mine in January for $40 which includes the efile for Federal but not state. It calculates the state but I just print it off and send it in the old fashion snail mail.

Check out you bank's website. A lot will offer discounts on turbotax.

TaxAct is free for Federal and less then $10 for state. You can save if you don't want to finish all at once. You can also print files a year after submission. They do try to sell stuff you don't need along the way but just push "no Thanks." I have used it for years.
