Tax Relief Money....Should I Give it to Disney???

Wow, so much irresponsible behavior. No wonder so many Americans are in a financial mess right now. If you have cc debt, that is obviously the thing to do with it. Fun or not, carrying a cc balance is just plain dumb. Look at how muc money you are losing in interest each month. Pay it off an you could take a vacation with the savings! Personally I'd feel sick if DH wanted to be that irresponsible. I could never enjoy a vacation if I knew I had cc debt.

While I do plan on using my money (IF we get it) to pay on my cc's, I think it is a bit of a stretch to basically tell people to not take a vacation if they have any cc debt. Your comments are coming off rather superior sounding, and I'm hoping that is not your intention.

I would pay off the credit card. You are already going to WDW so why carry around that debt longer if you do not have to? Just my opinion. :rolleyes1

I agree. To be honest, it seems kind of silly to add more days to a trip yet lose the money to pay off the credit card... just my $0.02...

So many opinions on how to spend other peoples money.....with a family of 4 you are talking about 1800.00 not really enough money to change anybodys life or life style. Sure it could make it a little easyier for a few months but that will be it. Personally, i woiuld rather squeez in one more trip to disney and pay for it with cash, rather then a CC. The whole point of this money is to spend it to stimulate the economy not pay off old debt or put it in your savings. That would defeat the whole purpose.

My own personal advice is to spend it, spend it fast, spend it on something you don't need..........Have fun with it. pay off your CC debt with your tax refund or don't that is your own personal business. I do know:thanks: one thing, we will be at POP on 12/1-12/6 thanks to Mr. Bush.......God Bless America.......:thanks:

Wow, if I had to wait until I had no CC debt in order to have a vacation, I would die never having taken one. I put all of our vacation as well as our other large expenses on our Disney or other VISA and then pay as much as I can when I can. So if we do get the rebate, it will just go into the checking account like everything else and then whatever I have at the end of the month will go to the credit cards just like always. I usually find a way to keep our interest rates down to less than 3% or zero with special offers.

 :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We have about $50K in credit card debt....I'm thinkin' we'll take a Disney cruise with our tax rebate.....maybe a week long one.....;)

CC debt? GET RID OF IT!!!! Why in the world would you want to keep PAYING someone else for things you've already purchased!!! This one's a no-brainer for me.

I refuse to give a penny more than what I bought to the CC companies! I use a Discover card only to get the cash back perks, but it is paid off in full every time. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I was thousands of dollars in debt. There is actually not one penny of credit debit in my whole family (parents, siblings, nieces/nephews). We are definitely in the minority in this country (and all saying "DUH" that now the gov't has realized that this might be a problem!)!

That being said - guess you can tell my advise is to pay down the cc debt. You already have a trip planned. If you are set on stimulating the economy at WDW, use the money to pay for things in this trip that you probably would have put on the credit card instead of adding more days ...by doing that atleast you won't be adding to your cc & interest!

JMHO :)

I am saving my refund and putting it toward my trip in 2009.

That's what I'm planning to do to with mine. Some friends are already planning Oct 2009 to celebrate their anniversary and inviting others along in the celebration! :woohoo:

Wow, if I had to wait until I had no CC debt in order to have a vacation, I would die never having taken one.

Isn't that the truth!!! So I say live life and enjoy the Mouse!!

I know with my debt level (about the same level as an earlier poster wrote), I'd never get back to Disney if I died, was resurrected, died, resurrected again and wash and repeat......

You only live once, so LIVE IT UP WHILE YOU STILLCAN!!!!! :cheer2:

...is to do what you want to do.

Stimulate the economy, pay off your credit cards, put it in a piggy bank, give it to me.

Just don't tell me your choice is better than mine. That reeks.

I will be using my relief money for my trip to Disney World. It is making me that much happier to know that I really won't need to worry about costs because of it.

We're going to Disney's Hilton Head resort. I already made the reservation and was going to pay cash that I would save from now until then....now, I'll just use that savings for something else and stimulate the economy on the government's dime!

We figure a vacation is a great way to "contribute" to the economy because we'll spread those dollars around (gas, hotels, restaurants, etc).

Everyone has to do their part you know!!

No CC debt here, so ours will go into our savings. Part will pay for our Myrtle Beach trip in June, the rest will go toward the June 2009 WDW trip I'll be booking in August or September!!!:goodvibes

It's your money--do what you like with it! Just don't second-guess your decision once it'e made!

We will be saving the money for when we got to Disney World from Dec. 26th-Jan. 4th this year. We will have already paid for the trip by the time the money arrives, and I can do more with 1200 that has earned interest, for a few months, than with just 1200 dollars. I know this isn't what the Feds want you to do, but we spend too much as it is in this country, we need to cut back a little as a whole.
