Hi...Being the Disney Crazed person that I am, as soon as I heard yesterday about the tax rebate being sent out this summer (May and June I believe) my first thought was to pay off my credit card, but I quickly came to my senses and decided the best way to "stimulate the economy" is to add two days onto my june-july 2008 vacation. Would you add two days to an existing vacation ressie or should I do something wild (at least for me) and split my stay and choose another resort to stay for two nights? What would you do??? Add to WL, switch resorts or....pay off my credit card (the no fun option!!!);)

Thanks

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Well thats definitely what the feds want you to do. How about splitting your refund. 1/2 to your cc and add only 1 more day. this way your conscious is happy, the government is happy (because your stimulating the economy) and your happy because hey, it's one more day in the mouse world. One word of warning, fellow jersey girl. Your gonna get all kinds of post say your an evil, evil person causing the downfall of civilization because your going to disney world with CC debt. :scared1: Be ready.

I am in the exact same boat! The wise thing to do would be to pay off the card... so we are doing the opposite and adding more days onto our August vacation! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I would pay off the credit card. You are already going to WDW so why carry around that debt longer if you do not have to? Just my opinion. :rolleyes1

Oh no!!! I hate conflict and love to be loved!!!!:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc. Thank you for the fair warning, us Jersians must stick together!!! Your response makes me reconsider the c.c pay off....perhaps that is a good idea too!!!! One day is a good compromise and then I still get one more day till I go back to reality! :wizard:

I would say that if you are ok with adding on to Disney-than do it!
If you feel you can pay off the card fairly soon after you get back, it's at a good int. rate, that's your only cc debt, the balance is not to high compared to your standards, and you don't feel bogged down by it--than go for Disney!

I think that's why they are coming the time they are--for family vacations!

That's why we are paying our stuff now and not spending extra $--to have fun this summer!

It's funny because the same thought crossed my mind. I would LOVE to take a cruise and have never been on one. When I heard of the refund, my natural instinct was to pay off my daughter's catholic school tuiton for 2nd grade ($2000---We'll be getting back $1800)...But, then I thought "Hmm...what about that Disney Cruise...." LOL

OMG.....we are arriving at disney on Feb. 11th, we have not even checked in yet for this upcoming trip and I was thinking the exact same thing, to book yet another trip to disney for the end of the year with the money. I guess all great Jersey minds think alike. We are DVC members, but if I can squeeze another disney trip in this year it is worth it!

I am seriously thinking about upgrading to concierge level on our next trip with ours:thumbsup2

It's an unexpected treat so I plan to use it as such;)

or you could use it as a deposit on some DVC points :rolleyes1

I am saving my refund and putting it toward my trip in 2009. Since I have already priced my trip for 7 nights to WL at $7,000 (with DH, DS10, DS4, and me) I need as much "extra" money as I can get.

The best thing you can do for yourself is pay down your credit card. If that's too boring and you want to "do your part" spend the money locally. Disney is not in the part of the economy that needs stimulation!

i am giving it all to disney...but then again we dont have any debt except for our home and a small car payment soooo i will be paying off our trip...and then our tax refund will go to savings.

It's so funny that this thread popped up. I was just talking to my mom and she said what am I going to do with mine. We booked for August and my final payment is due June so if we get it in May that's where it will go to. We were not going to go to WDW this year put we got a 40% off so I booked at Pop and now we are getting a bonus.
So I think out of pocket for our trip will be $350.00 plus the flights.

This Jersey Girl is going to pay off her CCs before I even go (tax refund) that way when I get the tax relief check I can do what I want with it. Like drink heavily.

We are in the process of planning and I plan on *stimulating* the economy by using it in disney!! :D

Funny, the first thing I thought when I heard about the checks is "Oooh, we could go to WDW again!" (At least I'm not the only one thinking along these lines). I guess, in reality though, paying off credit card debt is probably a necessity :sad2: We'll see.

So many of us have been struggling just to get by. Heck, we been saying we were going to go to Disney the last 3 yrs now but never have the $$. We are using our tax refund and the extra cash will go toward the lean months when my husband (road worker) is layed off. Bills.....The extra $$ just makes me feel not as guilty taking our kids to Disney when we really should be sticking it toward things we need You need not justify yourself to us or the gov. That's what is so great about our country....choices! Have fun.

If the govt chooses to give me some fun money $$$, I will certainly give my portion to WDW!!! There is nothing more that I would like to do with it! I say spend the entire thing at WDW if that's what you want to do!!!
