Tax refunds

We got all of our stuff early too. Nothing too complicated. We did get married last year, so it changed our filing status. Other than that we are pretty standard - 3 w-2's, one rental property, one house, student loans. I was more worried about the state and that one has been accepted. Not sure what is taking federal so long, but the longer it takes the more worried I get.

It may have to do with the rental property. If you depreciate the property the IRS may not accept your return until late Feb/early March.

Thank you! That is good information.

My Federal return was accepted on 1/31; my refund is scheduled to be deposited on 2/7.

I checked the day after we filed and it said 21 days. I went back today and it says I must have entered my information wrong as they have no info?? is that a bad sign

Mine is all of a sudden saying that today as well.

I'm not in a huge hurry for the refund, but it's a little unsettling that for the last 4 days it has said that it was accepted, and today it says they never received it.
Hopefully just a glitch. :confused3

I wouldn't worry about that. It has done that off and on but will go back to your regular status.

Submitted mine 2/1, still hasn't been accepted.. Pretty easy return, but did have a schedule C that showed a loss after we started a little side business last year.. Maybe that has something to do with the delay?

I did mine 2/1 and it was accepted 3 hrs later, I bet your schedule C is the hold up.

I don't think I used any forms that the IRS said would be delayed.. Just deducted a few expenses, wrote off a little mileage and took deduction for using a small part of the house for business expenses, the schedule C showed a loss of about $4K, nothing I thought would throw up a red flag..

Our federal is held up for education credits. I not sure what you were claiming for your student loans but that could also be the hold up.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Ours is held up because when I took a deduction for use of the house, for some reason I don't understand, used a 4562 for a depreciation deduction of a whopping $182... Oh well

I figured out why ours is still pending. It is because of the rental as a passive activity. I forget the form number. But now that I know what it is I will stop worrying about it. Thanks for posting that link!

Add me to the list of held up by education credits. My question, any chance that my refund will go up once they "update"?

Thanks. :)
Today it is back to saying that it has been received, but still does not say approved. I did have to file a 1098-T, so that may hold us up.

So that's what I don't understand.. I have already filed it, but the IRS software isn't ready.. So what happens now? Is the Taxact software I used not accurate??

Is there a number to call to make sure everything is okay? Or is there a way to look on Turbo Tax to tell me the exact forms we used? Ours still says received this morning, and I would love some peace of mind. I can handle knowing that it will be delayed because of a certain reason; I just want to know why, and I can feel better about it.

I filed through Turbotax on 1/29, return was accepted the same day. Turbotax refund tracker would only say that my refund will be deposited before 2/20. IRS Where's My Refund was updated a few days ago stating return was processed and expected deposit date was 2/6. I just checked our account and it was deposited this morning! Keep checking!
