Trying to figure my food costs for the next trip wondering what the tax is on food at the world? also I booked a ressie at ohanas however my son will not eat anything they have to offer can we pick up something from the counter service for him and bring it in?

I don't know what the tax is, but our waiter at O'Hana offered my DD a peanut butter and jelly sandwich when she didn't like any of the food.

Even if you don't eat the food at Ohanas or bring some in, you'll still be charged the set price

so if they do give him a peanut butter and jelly I will be charged the adult buffet price, and then if he don't eat anything I will be charged the buffet price also?

Yes, probably, because you are also paying for the entertainment there.

Looks like 6.5% I have a bill from Via Napoli from April and we were charged $2.86 on a $44.00 bill.

The basic Sales Tax rate in Florida is 6.0% and is on most goods and services. The counties have an option, by vote of their residents, to add a surtax of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0% or 1.5% to the state rate.

Orange County, which is most of WDW, has a surtax of 0.5% so purchases (including meals) are taxed at 6.5%.

Osceola County, which has the All-Stars Resorts and Wide World of Sports in it, has a 1.0% surtax so purchases at those locations are subject to a 7.0% tax.

In addition, counties are allowed to have a tax on transient lodging. In both Orange and Osceola Counties it is 6.0%, so all lodging except the All Stars is 12.5% while the All Stars, in Osceola County, is 13.0%.

At Ohana, there is a kid's menu if you ask for it. I think it's the kid's menu from Kona, but I'm not totally sure. They always bring my daughter chicken fingers and fries when we go there.

No matter if you bring something in for your son to eat or not, if he is at the table they will charge for him. (we learned from experience)
They are more than happy to make him something else...but they will charge you for that as well. (again we learned by experience)
