Tax Free week did end on August 5th. We just returned and noticed many problems with this promotion because some places were honoring this, and some were not. Some places thought it was this week, and even when shown other receipts from other stores where clothing was purchased without tax, they did not honour it. My DH and were frustrated with this because it is a big promotion throughout the state of Florida, but even so, we still had problems. Our biggest problem was at the Hard Rock Hotel. The sales clerk questioned the manager, as well as my DH and myself and he insisted that the promotion was over. All three of us said "absolutely not," but he said we were wrong. I contemplated not buying the sweatshirt, not because of the tax (it was only $2.00), but because of his rudeness to us, as well as his assistant. I did end of purchasing the sweatshirt, and am going to email Hard Rock in regards to the terrible customer service we received at this store.

You are correct - tax free is not available in the theme parks nor at Downtown Disney. But, CityWalk at Universal Studios was honouring the discount because as the cashier told us, it is outside of the theme park itself. Every store we purchased at in CityWalk did not charge tax, we even received no tax on my DH's Coca-Cola blanket (this I think was a mistake). Also, the Disney Character Premiere outlets were also honouring no tax because they were outside of the theme parks as well. Tiger
Does anyone know where we could get more info regarding the Tax Free Week in Florida that just ended. As I wrote in several of my other posts, my DH and I noticed great discrepancies in who was honouring this, and who wasn't. Do all stores have to follow this, or is it something that individual stores can opt out of? There were several stores at CityWalk that were giving no tax on toys, blankets, books, etc... and this was a nice surprise. Just curious as to what the actual parameters are surrounding this promotion (besides the fact that it is only offered on clothes under $50.00). I tried doing a search on the web, and could not find anything relating to this promotion, although while we were there last week, we do recall seeing many t.v. commercials promoting Tax Free Week.
